Statement from (Iowa) Secretary of State Paul Pate Regarding Misleading Mailer from Cruz
Oskaloosa News ^

Posted on 01/30/2016 1:07:24 PM PST by springwater13

Today I was shown a piece of literature from the Cruz for President campaign that misrepresents the role of my office, and worse, misrepresents Iowa election law. Accusing citizens of Iowa of a "voting violation" based on Iowa Caucus participation, or lack thereof, is false representation of an official act. There is no such thing as an election violation related to frequency of voting. Any insinuation or statement to the contrary is wrong and I believe it is not in keeping in the spirit of the Iowa Caucuses.

Additionally, the Iowa Secretary of State’s Office never "grades" voters. Nor does the Secretary of State maintain records related to Iowa Caucus participation. Caucuses are organized and directed by the state political parties, not the Secretary of State, nor local elections officials. Also, the Iowa Secretary of State does not "distribute" voter records. They are available for purchase for political purposes only, under Iowa Code." - Paul D. Pate, Iowa Secretary of State

The debate is a good thing when the candidate shows up. When the candidate expects to do badly under the pressure and just stays home instead, it’s not so good.

Trump’s long-held New York Values are a clear and present danger to the conservative movement and Cruz was right to bring it up.

Nobody brought that up but you.

I suggest you preach to yourself about what is legal or honest.

Oh, maybe you are. It is the Edenic folly: [private] knowledge of good and evil.

Gee Rita, it wouldn’t surprise me at all if you were to vote more than once.

Trumpet morality raises its ugly head.

Where did he ever bring up “VOTING TWICE”

This was about frequency of participation in a number of sequential primaries... and how Cruz made a VERY misleading and disrespectful mailer out of it...

Someone is drinking Kool Aid here and it is not me.

Your answer to being caught is just to keep reiterating the presumptuous error.

No arguing with that, only “GOD REBUKE YOU!”

Seriously Jim, how can he be wrong?

How can multiple voting be legal?

See, I was right: it was pointless to post anything rational to you? But I DO have a special song just for you. It's just your speed and might be something you can understand:

Okay, dance on an ambiguity of wording all you like. God, who knew what he meant, will still prevail.

God is funny that way, Satan.

I’ve picked showed my ID, shown about 10 different blank ballots to pick from, poked holes in them, and shoved into a giant box full of hundreds of others. How do they track which one was me?

You are babbling nonsense again.

Explain how multiple votes in the same contest is legal.

(it obviously is not)

They don’t. But when you signed at the table to get one, they know you DID vote.

That’s what this was about. I don’t know what has drawn this latest wave of kooks who are purposely misinterpreting things.

The “honest” Cruz needs to face up to honest criticism and not hide behind excuse makers. And excuse makers should be VERY ashamed!

“The Secretary of State is a Trump backer.”

That doesn’t make what Cruz did any better or change the SOS’s statement. It sounded quite professional and fair, unlike the mailings.

I know far more of God than your superficial prancing around. YOU need to stay on the subject, which is that YOU misinterpreted the SoS, maliciously! And YOU need to fess up before GOD and APOLOGIZE! (But I bet you never will.)

In my best Cruz Unstable voice (sarcasm level set to full):

"How dare he say something bad about Ted Cruz, he must be a liberal RINO who doesn't care about the constitution. This is a brilliant idea and besides, Trump is a RINO. The idiots who got this mailer must vote for him or else they are ignorant. Cruz or lose!! Pass the lithium darts"

Time for me to get a shower

Therefore, do not interpret the SoS that way. Interpret him the way that he meant, i.e. the relative participation in primaries.

Simple to stay on context, no? But Satan refuses!

SoS Pate is hoping for a surge in the Christie campaign. Definitely not a Trump guy.
