Statement from (Iowa) Secretary of State Paul Pate Regarding Misleading Mailer from Cruz
Oskaloosa News ^

Posted on 01/30/2016 1:07:24 PM PST by springwater13

Today I was shown a piece of literature from the Cruz for President campaign that misrepresents the role of my office, and worse, misrepresents Iowa election law. Accusing citizens of Iowa of a "voting violation" based on Iowa Caucus participation, or lack thereof, is false representation of an official act. There is no such thing as an election violation related to frequency of voting. Any insinuation or statement to the contrary is wrong and I believe it is not in keeping in the spirit of the Iowa Caucuses.

Additionally, the Iowa Secretary of State’s Office never "grades" voters. Nor does the Secretary of State maintain records related to Iowa Caucus participation. Caucuses are organized and directed by the state political parties, not the Secretary of State, nor local elections officials. Also, the Iowa Secretary of State does not "distribute" voter records. They are available for purchase for political purposes only, under Iowa Code." - Paul D. Pate, Iowa Secretary of State

Don’t get caught with a live boy or dead girl in your bed is a primary rule for politics. This is not the kind of ‘any PR is good PR’ way of doing things. It’s a campaign that just shot itself in the head and we’re watching the bloody aftermath.

Or again, look at what he is doing with the resources he has?

Maybe if we projected Trump’s actions up from Trump’s level of faith to the level of faith that Cruz supposedly has... we’d be seeing something that looked like Mother Teresa? Just sayin’?

Just because a pretender is bigger doesn’t make him better.

It is similar to the 'culture' excuse used to hit at those in the IRS who blocked conservative organizations from getting tax exemptions. They didn't have overt, direct instructions, so they did it because of the 'culture'. Numerous other examples claim the blame goes directly to the Oval Office -- whether by the FBI or IRS or DOJ.

This is no different. If Cruz did NOT know specifically, then his underlings let him down or they thought it okay because of the 'culture' of their campaign.

It is not so different from the excuses that came out about the bridge closing in NJ shortly after Christie was elected. He still claims he had no idea, but several of him immediately staff were the culprits.

You talk of judgement day while judging others?

How hypocritical Linda.

We have ONE judge, and it isn’t you. Please claim to the world that you are perfect, and without sin.

Go ahead. Try.

I really am speechless. Can’t believe how badly Cruz’s campaign has been run.

Unless you were already a committed Cruz supporter, I can't imagine this mailer motivating anybody else to go out and vote for the man. In fact, it might even give committed Cruz voters pause. I'm sure the original intent of the mailer was to have a little fun but it comes across to the average voter as chilling and "big brother" as it implies that your voting record is open to scrutiny of others.

A major turnoff and a major fail by the Cruz campaign in my opinion.

Meet Don Trump, an event hosted by Paul Pate, Iowa SOS

Aha! Good find! Secretary of State Pate is not so neutral, is he?

Boy do you have your head in the sand. The Cruz campaign stated they were responsible for the mailings. Wow - the naivete of the Cruzbots is overwhelming.

“Obama didn’t know until he read about it in the paper.”

$30+ billion a year in intelligence for the President and a local hack had to print it for him to know.

We have The Hill article. Where are the other 250 that should have been written and circulated (and posted here) by now?

“Nobody in the LSM is on this”

Give ‘em time. It’s gonna blow up in the next 24 hours now that Iowa SecState statement was published in an MSM outlet. That gives the rest of the MSM outlets a free pass to run wild with this.

And yet look at that mailer, look at the contents.

Tell us personally how that strikes you.

Then your suspicions are wrong. It was authorized by the Cruz campaign.

This is a terrible mistake.

Ted Cruz is the anti-establishment candidate sending out a government like document reporting on your voting record. Very bad. It undermines his whole campaign.
