I now realize Trump is much deeper than I'd realized.

He read 2000+ pages, constantly looking for reasons to dislike the author of the 2000+ pages?
What a fool.
My guess: He didn’t read more than 10 pages. He already had his conclusion typed up, so why bother reading??

Would have been better off reading right books about Trump, not by him.

I never doubted his drive and wealth motivation. I just want to know if he will be a strong strict constitutionalist, appoint conservative justices and surround himself with constitution loving conservatives on his cabinet, flush the State Department, DOJ, and now Pentagon leftist /communists.
Will he do what is right or will he reach across the isle to work with Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid?

The best book on Trump is the unauthorized biography from the mid 1980’s. It was not anti Trump but left you read between the lines. I read it a few weeks ago and have shared it grequently since then.

I might be following in your footsteps, Hombre. Just ordered Art of the Deal a few days ago. Will go from there.

... Over the course of 2,212 pages, I encountered a world where bragging is breathing and insulting is talking, where repetition and contradiction come standard, where vengefulness and insecurity erupt at random.
I can’t argue with that - I see it with my own eyes. But he has sold 30% or so that he is the GREATEST based on his insulting, contradictions and vengefulness.

I found ... well, is there a single word that combines revulsion, amusement, respect and confusion? That is how it feels, sometimes by turns, often all at once, to binge on Trump's writings. Over the course of 2,212 pages, I encountered a world where bragging is breathing and insulting is talking, where repetition and contradiction come standard, where vengefulness and insecurity erupt at random. Does not surprise me.

Say what you want the article pretty much nails it on Trump.
Explains why he is so popular with many, but why he shouldn’t be.

Trump: The Saga of America's Most Powerful Real Estate Baron

From the article:
As president, he would appoint himself U.S. trade representative, for example, and ''take personal charge of negotiations with the Japanese, the French, the Germans, and the Saudis,'' he writes in ''The America We Deserve'' (2000).
I am puzzled as to why he would want to be president when all he really wants to do is make the deals.
LBJ was real good at making the deals, president - not so much.

I just finished reading Art of the Deal. It was written thirty years ago, but could have been written yesterday as far as Trump’s operating philosophy is concerned. The man hasn’t varied from those principles in all that time. He is authentic. What you see is what you will get.
I’m sure that sends a thrill down the leg of some,
and a trickle down the leg of others.

It is a pity that the author has chosen the superficial and frankly unchallenging task of exposing Trump for the egoist he is while neglecting to explore the sleazy episodes in Trump's career which expose him as a man unworthy of the office.
