Of all the many things said about Donald Trump, what was said by Roger Ailes, head of the Fox News Channel, said it all in just two words: "Grow up!"
It is amazing how many people have been oblivious to this middle-aged man's spoiled brat behavior, his childish boastfulness about things he says he is going to do, and his petulant response to every criticism with ad hominem replies.
He has boasted that his followers would stick by him even if he committed murder. But is that something to boast about? Is it not an insult to his followers, if it is true? Moreover, his cockiness is misplaced, because he still does not have a majority among Republican voters, while you need a majority of all the voters to win any state in the general election.
Trump has a showman's talent for telling people what they want to hear. But you can listen in vain for a coherent argument from him, based on facts and logic, much less an understanding of the inherent limitations of the office of president.
More than two centuries ago, Edmund Burke said: "Constitute government how you please, infinitely the greater part of it must depend upon the exercise of the powers which are left at large to the prudence and uprightness of ministers of state."
In other words, the personal character of the people to whom you entrust the powers of government matters even more than what kinds of government institutions there are. There have been some good kings and some bad presidents, as well as vice versa.

Riiiight, which means if he controls the media narrative, he controls the media. It’s one in the same.
The reason you don't get what is going on is that you are in denial. When one refuses to see what is going on because one doesn't like the outcome, one is dumbfounded by events.
You are not alone. You can see the same confusion in guys like Krauthammer, Hume, Sowell, and others...so you are in good company.
He has influence re: the narrative, but not control of media actions.
I was trying to be polite. I get that there’s a cult of personality around Trump where people are worshiping him like a cult figure and instead of expecting him to represent them and do what they say, they’re prepared to do whatever he says.
Constitutional Conservatives have been backstabbed so often that I wonder if we'll ever fully trust anyone, except perhaps Jeff Sessions and Dave Brat, again.
What I see in Donald Trump who is expressing the same sort of things we do. I look at him as a creative problem solvers, analytical, and as someone who keeps his word.
I don't think we're being had.
We're learning to look for who wants what's best to restore the US. Trump does.
FWIW, Rubio seems to possess that more than the rest of the establishment faves. Huckabee, Santorum, even Rand Paul seem to have that in them. Maybe even Christie. But the rest of them seem to belong to others and their priorities.
JMHO
That would be the support for Donald Trump. Checkmate.
I guess I am your worse nightmare.
Deal with it.
‘That was a sleazy comment!
And you support Trump - the king of sleaze, the sharp put-down clown, the braggadocio with elastic ideology and multiple marriages?
Excuse me while I laugh.”
Hear aear! âRudeness is the weak man’s imitation of strength.â (Eric Hoffer) They’re True Believers, just like the Obamabots of 2008. Trump is going to be our Great Savior, didn’t you know that? And if you don’t agree 100% you’re a loser. Trump’s crassness gives his follows license to do the same to those who don’t agree with them. A wise man once said “Don’t follow leaders, watch the parking meters.” I’m a Cruz girl but don’t hate Trump. I’d vote for him. I just think it’s juvenile to trash those who don’t agree with you. The level of discouse on FR has definitely degenerated lately to about third grade...or maybe kindergarten level.
Trump!?
A commander in chief that belittles U.S. prisoners of war?
A commander in chief that likes and defends Putin - a KGP goon that shoots down domestic airliners?
A commander in chief that is in awe of Kim Jung-Un and how, at such a young age, he took charge - in such a commanding way - the brutal family dictatorship of North Korea (that closed society of starving people)?
That Trump?
I described Trump to a “t.”
Yes you did.
Now that’s what I call vetting. I might be pro-Trump, but not a koolaid drinker for anyone.
It would be good to make link lists, or make links off of some of Yosemitest’s research. You are both doing some of the best counter-Trump research I’ve seen yet.
Truth win out!
Doing a far better job than Thomas Sowell.
FRegards ....
“Too late. They drank the kool aid,”
âThe quality of ideas seems to play a minor role in mass movement leadership. What counts is the arrogant gesture, the complete disregard of the opinion of others, the singlehanded defiance of the world.â

I don’t need advice from Ailed or anyone else in the spineless establishment
“The quality of ideas seems to play a minor role in mass movement leadership. What counts is the arrogant gesture, the complete disregard of the opinion of others, the singlehanded defiance of the world.”
So apt.
And to think I once had respect for Thomas Sowell
The cries or lamentations of the DC whores and anal remoras are deafening.
I love it. Smoke all these bed-wetting check pant demoncrat fluffers out into the open.
Too bad there wasn't this kind of angst amongst the beltway pimps and whores when the Demoncrats nominated Ogabe.
This is disgraceful!!
“Ted Cruz Campaign Sends Out Personal ‘Shaming Letters’ To Iowa Voters”
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3390550/posts
He’s said that his personal wealth has made him beholden to no one. Including the voters?
We know from the hard lessons of history, that sometimes, events happen, right before our eyes, that are so unimaginable that we have no way to assess its impact. That is what is happening right now. England is all giddy over Chamberlain and Churchill is a “grumpy old has been”. We would do well to consider his words: “You had the choice between war and dishonor. You chose dishonor, and you will have war.” Trump is no more capable than Chamberlain to save America. His ruthless bloviating get will not bring the country together, and, l’m afraid, we will all pay the price when he finds out that administering the federal enterprise is more than trying to save a failing Atlantic Casino by putting an all nude Strip Club in it.
