Trump: Cruz 'pummeled' in GOP debate
The Hill ^ | 1/29/16 | Ben Kamisar

Donald Trump believes Ted Cruz got "pummeled" in Thursday night's GOP debate, which he chose to skip in response to a spat with Fox News.

"I'm glad I wasn't there, he got pummeled," Trump said at a town hall in New Hampshire Friday's debate performance for Cruz, whom he called "an anchor baby in Canada."

"And they didn't even mention that he was born in Canada. When you were born in Canada you aren't supposed to be running for president of the United States."

Seriously, Trump needs to stop with this Canada stuff, it’s starting to look petty.

When you are born in Canada, of an American Citizen, you are automatically given DUEL Citianeship - For those too blind to understand - he was given American citizenship at birth. His mother also moved BACK to the US when he was vey young - well withing the the limit to MAINTAIN their US Citizenship. Go ahead - follow/push this Pied Piper Huckster - the Trumpster - into the WH - and then cry in your beer a couple years from now as you realize you've been had - and helped finish off our country.

Cruz was pummeled; in the absence of Trump, Cruz goes back to being the one that has to be taken down.

Cruz handled himself well.

And Trump was vindicated. Fox News was back to its embarrassing level of childishness in the way it conducted the debates. The remaining candidates did alright, they mostly ignored the stupid questions asked and answered the questions they wished they had been asked.

But out of all the debates, in my opinion the best has been by Fox Business and the worst, silliest, have been by Fox News. Wallace and Kelly, insufferable. They can’t get it through their heads that the debates are not supposed to be about them; their job is to let the candidates debate one another on topics they consider important.

When you were born in Canada you aren't supposed to be running for president of the United States.

That is not true. One of the best references to the original understanding and intent of "natural born citizen" is the 1790 Naturalization Act passed by many of the same people who were involved in ratifying the Constitution three years earlier.

"...the children of citizens of the United States that may be born beyond Sea, or out of the limits of the United States, shall be considered as natural born Citizens..."

This is a confirmation that the original understanding of "natural born citizen" included one who is born outside of the U.S. may in fact be a natural born citizen.

He had the VP slot tied up, some vets then emailed Donald telling him that the VP had to be a natural born citizen, and that they had questions about Cruz.

So Donald asked Cruz to get a court to determine if he was NB or not, Cruz instead of complying, instead treated Donald as if he were a taxi driver.

Now Cruz will be luck to get re-elected to the Senate.

That’s not Trump’s problem. Trump has nothing to do with this.

Why didn’t Ted get this settled BEFORE he ran- not just for president, but before he ran for senator?

If you say ‘’He didn’t know’’ or ‘’He didn’t think . . .’’, then he’s not as ‘’smart’’ as he’s touted to be. And he sure isn’t smart/ detail oriented/ ‘’constitutionalist’’ enough to be president.
This man is reckless & sloppy or lazy. He is not wise.

Trump is too unstable of a man to waste a vote on. He backed out of this debate for flimsy reasons. Who knows if he would pull out of the race before November? The guy is unreliable.

No I wouldn’t. I had a childhood friend who was born in Germany and he was told he was ineligible to be President.
Natural born citizen is only required for President.
Read the founders and you will see that they meant born here of citizen parents, no other possible citizenships, naturally a US citizen.

How can we expect “expert debater” Ted Cruz to handle Hillary if he can’t even handle Rand Paul?

The birttherism continues, precisely because Trump knows there is no way to clear it up until after the election.

Wrong, the SCOTUS would hear it in a matter of days, Cruz is a US Senator and Candidate for POTUS.

They would clear their schedules to hear this. And Cruz knows it, that's why he won't do it.

Trump may do better highlighting the specific unethical setups from the mods. That may give Cruz a small boost, but reinforces why Trump stepped out of the debate.

1790 Naturalization Act

Even with that law which was repealed and rewritten in 1795 by "the father of the constitution" James Madison so as to replace shall be considered natural born citizen with shall be considered a citizen, Cruz still would not have even been considered a citizen of the USA. In 1790 citizenship was derived by the husband/father. If an American woman married a Cuban she became a citizen of Cuba. The child of a Cuban father was a Cuban citizen. It was the Naturalization Act of 1934 which granted women the ability to pass her citizenship to her child. So if we go with original intent, your argument does not work.

If a Naturalization Act makes you a citizen, you are by definition, a naturalized citizen. Ted Cruz is a naturalized citizen, not a natural born citizen.

Frankly, I don't want someone noble as President. I want someone Putin won't provoke, someone China won't ignore, and someone the Muslims will fear.

I want some people in this world to sleep with one eye open in the fear that the President of the USA will choose that night to end their lives.

And I want our allies, like Israel, to sleep better knowing that this President won't sell them out to the barbarians because of some noble principle.
