Wrong, your video link proves exactly the opposite. He says halfway through EXACTLY what he’s doing. That’s the part Fox cut out sneakily. Cruz said here the committee is expected by everybody to reject his amendment. And he says if they do reject it, it proves they don’t want any “coming out of the shadows,” or any of the other nice things they tried to sell the bill on. It proves they only want full citizenship and that they would the illegals they pretend to care so much about back into the shadows just because they wouldn’t settle for less than full citizenship with voting rights. That is what he was trying to expose, which, at the time, was not publically said by Democrats that much. He exposed that Democrats don’t want to help people, they want to help themselves by getting more undocumented Democrats to vote.
Megyn Kelly even admitted in her interview after the debate with Cruz that she believes he has been perfectly consistent on his immigration positions. She said she agrees what he was doing was a poison pill. She all but admitted that they used the clips because it would be something voters “wouldn’t understand.” They wanted to put him in a tough position but using the edited clips was an incredibly dishonest way to do so. There’s no way anything Cruz could say to explain away those snippets wouldn’t sound like lying. This is perhaps where he should have unloaded his slamming of the media attack, for using these edited clips out of context.
