This is a shortened and edited version of FBI footage showing the joint FBI and Oregon State Police traffic stop and OSP officer-involved shooting of Robert âLaVoyâ Finicum on the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge.
Youâll note that Finicum was shot by an Oregon State Police Trooper at relatively close range as he appeared to be reaching into his coat in a manner consistent with attempting to draw a handgun.
Flash bangs were then deployed in an effort to get the other occupants of the vehicle to surrender.

I had the same response. And, I just don’t understand what any of these men did to warrant this response from the government?
Really, chase him down the road with vans full of swat officers?
Yeah - them tossing the hat off like that was pretty disgusting. I imagine that cowboy hat; like mine and most others, could tell a lot of stories.
May he rest in peace.
With the cheering by the left we can expect LEOs to employ this new lower threshold to justify future shootings.
Mostly in the inner city.
“He was reaching for his pocket”
As the white truck approaches the roadblock, there is a spike strip across the road but it appears Finicum missed it as he attempted to drive around the roadblock. He nearly hits an FBI agent as he maneuvers to the left. The truck gets stuck in the snowbank.
Finicum leaves the truck and steps through the snow. Agents and troopers on scene had information that Finicum and others would be armed. On at least two occasions, Finicum reaches his right hand toward a pocket on the left inside portion of his jacket. He did have a loaded 9 mm semi-automatic handgun in that pocket.
At this time, OSP troopers shot Finicum.

Because the truck he was driving wasn't stuck. I'm sure he considered dying his last option ( he already made it clear by own statements he considered it an option), and once the truck was stuck and he was surrounded he exercised the option he saw available. I don't consider it unreasonable to consider him a man of his word, who died by it.
Use this site to download and save the video. I just did and it works for this video.

I just watched it on media player zoomed in 200% and it clearly shows him going for both his shoulder holster gun and his right hip gun. Even looks like he got one out. Sorry to say this was a clean shoot on the part of the LEO’s.
He didn’t want to be taken alive.
How is there enough information in the video to draw a definite conclusion? When, exactly, was LEO's first shot fired? There's no audio. We don't know what, if anything, any of them were speaking, yelling, etc.
Cordially,
Thanks for this link.
He didn't want to be taken alive.
He didn't want to be taken with audio.
The feds need to release the audio.
They released the video so their supporters can fan out over the Internet and say "Good Shoot!".
There's a guy 25 feet from the action with a video camera. So, like - why didn't they release that?
BECAUSE IT HAS STUFF ON IT THEY DON"T WANT OUT THERE.
This drone video was to muddy the waters.
Bundy, Finicum and the rest had the temerity to exercise their 2nd amendment rights and to expect that the 5th amendment guarantee of “life, liberty and property” meant something.
If we here on FR fit the FBI’s profile: white, middle-aged and armed—and I do—should we be concerned that we might also be in their sights?
Yes, we should.
As far as I can see, if this drone video is all they’ve got, then their claim that this was a `good shoot’ is unconvincing.
Maybe they thought it might become another Miami shootout, remember where the FBI was outgunned and shot up? If so, they should produce the forensic evidence. I’ll believe their spokesman like I trust Josh Earnest.
At the end of the day it’s just a dead cowboy who refused to roll over for the feds `higher and best’ planned use for their ranches.
So ... back to the FBI’s Holder, Lerner and Clinton “investigations” and business-as-usual.
“Man said he’d rather die than go to jail, are you calling him a liar?”
What a stupid response...you aren’t a gunslinger...you are a fraud... :)
What's you response to his statement and his actions? Do you think he didn't really mean it when he said he'd rather die than go to prison?
“What’s you response to his statement and his actions? Do you think he didn’t really mean it when he said he’d rather die than go to prison?”
Maybe you didn’t see the video...he clearly was trying to surrender. He got out of the vehicle to distance himself from his friends...to protect them... and was clearly trying to surrender.
I see someone who tried to flee from law enforcement, and then upon exiting the vehicle after it got stuck reached for his waistband (plenty of pictures of him wearing a handgun can be found online) and got shot. If he simply done what the others did he’d be alive like them, but he said he’d rather die than go to jail...
I agree with you he got out of the truck to distance himself from the others, because he intended to out guns blazing as a man of his word. If he wanted to surrender he wouldn’t have fled.

So, you are an idiot...no sense in continuing the conversation...
After reviewing the video a few more times; I can’t say if he was shot first then went for his gun, as I probably would have, or not. We do need audio to determine what happened conclusively.
