A pair of pro-Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX)Super PACs just offered $1.5 million for veterans if Donald Trump will debate Cruz one-on-one in Iowa before Sunday evening. Keep The Promise I and Keep The Promise II offered up the sizable donation for America's veterans on Wednesday evening. The principal donors of Keep the Promise I, the Mercer family, and Keep the Promise II, the Neugebauer family, in a joint statement released Wednesday evening said:
Senator Cruz and Mr. Trump both respect the veterans and hold them in the highest regard but Senator Cruz respects the process and we are calling on Mr. Trump to do the same and debates are the purest form of democracy. Iowans - and Americans - deserve to hear from the frontrunners in this 'two-man race' one last time. Not only would this be a heck of a debate, but it would also be a terrific opportunity to generate millions of dollars for the veterans.
The press release made clear the parameters of the pro-Cruz Super PACs' offer: The debate must be between just Trump and Cruz, must take place on or before Sunday Jan. 31 in Iowa, must be one-hour long, and the candidates can pick a jointly-agreed-to moderator themselves.
The two organizations said in a press release:
In response to Senator Ted Cruz's challenge of a one-on-one debate, the principal donors of the Keep the Promise I and II super PACs are offering presidential candidate Donald Trump a truly fantastic deal, pledging to donate $1.5 million to charities committed to helping veterans if Mr. Trump agrees to debate Senator Cruz in Iowa. This money is in addition to the millions of proceeds available to the veterans as a share of the revenues that this debate could secure from a host network.

PING
Donald will run the clock out. Why dick around with Ted. Fourth quarter with 3 minutes on the clock with a 9 point lead. See ya Ted.
Trump ran.
Cruz wants/needs a lot more camera time. The problem for Cruz is that people won’t tune in just to watch him.He desperately needs Trump there to draw a crowd.
Cruz can't let it go. Before Trump came in the race Cruz couldn't get 5 minutes total press a week. Then Bush was all news all the time. Then Cruz sank his claws into Trump and has been along on the ride since. If Cruz lets Trump go, it's over.
The worst thing Trump will have to do is to make sure some worthy vet group gets better than $1.5 million. Why should he really give Ted a chance to move up at this date? I wouldn’t do it... take a knee and run it out.
Bad headline. Shows Ted’s backers are willing to give to a worthy cause only if it satisfies certain political conditions. This is not good.
That's a pretty apt comparison.
Go Broncos!
If Ted’s super PACs are so concerned about the vets, why don’t they just donate the 1.5 million right now?
This whole thing reeks of desperation.
Are the candidates and their PAC suppose to stay separate? Sure doesn’t seem they are in this situation. Shame if someone turned them in!

Good point
The Boss is the one calling the shots sir, get back in line.
Trump should say “Make it $50 million and you’re on!”
$1.5 million ain’t enough and Trump walks away from bad deals.
I think the establishment, and even Ted, are trying to shame Trump into playing their game. It is a shame that Trump’s alternative to benefit some veterans has been politicized and jockeyed to support other motives by Cruz and company.
I like Ted. I was for him for months and months until recently I decided Cruz supporters here (mainly) are completely intransigent to goals that don’t necessarily result in Cruz being the only option. I still like Ted, and I will vote for him in a general election - gladly and proudly, but this just smacks of desperation and somewhat underhanded.
Correct.
LOL! Trump stomped his feet, then ran for cover. Very perplexing. :)
BTW, fascinating spin on O’Reilly last night. Trump is projecting his own ego-defense mechanism on his potential role as President, i.e., the way he defends himself is the way he will defend America, paraphrasing what he said last night. This is so brilliant. He takes what would ordinarily go down as a disabling personal sensitivity to insult and spins it into, this isn’t really about me, but about America. Pure genius. Right up there with the famous Marx brothers quip, “Who you gonna believe? Me or your lying eyes?”
Peace,
SR
Yep. All the way 'running the table' to the nomination.
Cruz following Trump around like a sad puppy again.
Texas money pacs set up for contributions of $10 million or so per donor.
One of the four had a $15 million donation via several family members.
