Former Texas Gov. Rick Perry is endorsing Ted Cruz in the Republican presidential primary, Perry told POLITICO in an interview Sunday night.
Perry, who also sought the GOP nomination before dropping out in September, said he now sees the race as one that is between Cruz, a fellow Texan, and Donald Trump. Through phone calls and during a December day spent driving around his Round Top, Texas, home in his truck with Cruz, Perry said he found the senator to be a good listener who respects the Tenth Amendment, "knows what he does not know" and is more conservative than Trump.
"Of those individuals who have a chance to win the Republican primary, at this juncture, from my perspective, Ted Cruz is by far the most consistent conservative in that crowd," Perry said. "And that appears to be down to two people."
Perry, who is famously skilled at retail politics, will campaign with Cruz Tuesday across Iowa, and will join Iowa GOP Rep. Steve King to stump for Cruz again Wednesday. Perry and King will both join Cruz at a Des Moines rally Wednesday night.
The endorsement gives Cruz the blessing of the longest-serving governor in Texas history, just as the senator faces intensifying heat from other veteran politicians, including from his colleagues in Washington, Iowa Gov. Terry Branstad and former Senate Majority Leader Bob Dole.

I'm as big a birther as any, but I find CW's request here to be totally appropriate at this time, and in this thread. There are other issues, Trump has baggage too, and it's good to air out or vet all the candidates on all the issues. There are plenty of threads where the birther question is debated. All the posters here have landed on one side or the other.
Not saying your point of view isn't valid. I think it is, I share it. But time and place, time and place.
Your mileage may vary.
Try to make sense when you comment please.
Cogent, cohesive comments will elicit a response.
lol!!!
“Hopefully, Scott Walker will too.”
Who’s Scott Walker? :)
Can’t be - Cruz is ‘heartless’, you know being for border security, or at least so I thought...
This would have been a better reply.
“you’re right, and it is rude for me to slander people for just supporting another candidate.”
Who was the first foreign born first lady?
: )
Gov Scott Walker is the fellow who, right out of the box in his first term (2011), revoked instate tuition for illegal aliens (only gov who has), the conservative who clipped the wings of unions and the university tenure system, and cut taxes (winning 3 elections in 4 years while under a secret John Doe witch hunt investigation ).
You betcha. If Trump loses, your dreams will come true with the amnesty candidates increasing the invasion of Syrian Muslim refugees and ISIS terrorists.
I didn’t bring it up and resent being included in your chastisement.
John Quincy Adams’ wife was the only first lady born in a foreign countryâEngland. She played the harp, wrote satirical plays and raised silkworms. Andrew Jackson’s wife was a bigamist, having married Jackson before she was divorced from her first husband...
i figured i’d dump the whole paragraph.
have NO IDEA what one has to do with the other lol.

To be inclusive, I included everyone who was starting to do the “dance” and catch everyone who might keep that “thread hijacking” ball in the air - those who felt compelled to respond to a provocation.
I apologize if you felt I was admonishing you when I was only alerting you.
I agree. And I've posted birther stuff in those threads but only when she advanced it as an issue, argued the point. She's politely attempted to "nip it in the bud" on this thread, and even though she's "in an opposing camp," there is value in at least a pretense of keeping the peace.
Plus, the Perry endorsement is an interesting angle all of its own.
Just tossing in my two cents. It's early in the morning for me, and maybe composing remarks is intemperate. I'm not criticizing you, BTW. Just sharing my mind.
