Former Texas Gov. Rick Perry is endorsing Ted Cruz in the Republican presidential primary, Perry told POLITICO in an interview Sunday night.
Perry, who also sought the GOP nomination before dropping out in September, said he now sees the race as one that is between Cruz, a fellow Texan, and Donald Trump. Through phone calls and during a December day spent driving around his Round Top, Texas, home in his truck with Cruz, Perry said he found the senator to be a good listener who respects the Tenth Amendment, "knows what he does not know" and is more conservative than Trump.
"Of those individuals who have a chance to win the Republican primary, at this juncture, from my perspective, Ted Cruz is by far the most consistent conservative in that crowd," Perry said. "And that appears to be down to two people."
Perry, who is famously skilled at retail politics, will campaign with Cruz Tuesday across Iowa, and will join Iowa GOP Rep. Steve King to stump for Cruz again Wednesday. Perry and King will both join Cruz at a Des Moines rally Wednesday night.
The endorsement gives Cruz the blessing of the longest-serving governor in Texas history, just as the senator faces intensifying heat from other veteran politicians, including from his colleagues in Washington, Iowa Gov. Terry Branstad and former Senate Majority Leader Bob Dole.

Poor Rick Perry... so insignificant these days.
Who is Rick Perry? The guy who forget his own policies.
From your mouth to his ears!
I was surprised Walker didn't do better after his great record in WI.
As the primary voting actually begins I'm praying conservatives wake up and swing to the one consistent conservative in the field, CRUZ!
A couple of questions:
1) Who appoints electors for President?
2) By whom, when, and where are the votes counted, and why?
3) If there is no majority, who elects the President, and how?
4) What does any of this have to do with the Judicial Power of the United States as outlined in Article III?
You are spot on!
FWIW, the rude crass NY behavior is what first got me thinking about my willingness to support Trump if Cruz didn't get the nomination. Then I began to think about his finessing the Planned Parenthood issue and asking when did he become a conservative. I'm now convinced he's not a conservative and never has been. His supporters seem to be driven by emotion, mainly anger, to the point that they don't care about his life long support of govt control over individuals.
Nice try. But Trump publicly stated that he believed Cruz was qualified to run for president and that he came to that conclusion after consulting his âbest in the worldâ lawyers.

As much as I like Trump, its really not up to him. You do realize there are other candidates and their campaigns that may not agree. A lawsuit has been filed to keep Ted off the ballot in Illinois. More to come.
Donald Trump "I don't know many evangelicals to come out of Cuba - I'm just saying.".
Interviewer "Do you ever ask God for forgiveness?" Trump "Well I don't really think I have done anything to ask forgiveness for".
Interviewer "What does it mean to you to be conservative?". Trump "Well, we conserve things."
What was Trump in 2008, 2009, 2010, 2012, 2013?
When did Trump become a conservative?
Rick Perry became Texas’ first Republican lieutenant governor since Reconstruction, taking office on January 19, 1999.
This is good! No doubt Trump cultish people will say it`s a bad thing
agreed
yesterday I was told on the Sunday Shows thread, that I was wrong to mention what Trump said about Laurence Tribe on Fox Media Buzz (a Sunday Show)
Trump said...exact words “Tribe is a Wonderful Professor from Harvard”
The Trumpsters did not appreciate me bringing it up
Sarah Palin has back slid, pains me to say that but yes she has
Jesus is for Cruz, not even debatable.
Yeah, Perry was SO GODLY that he wanted to have little girls injected with Gardasil against their parents wishes.
I support Trump and I’m a Bible-believing Christian Conservative.
Who are you to judge me?
The Bible teaches us that God can work through people who aren’t saved...King Cryus, David, Paul, to name a few.
I pray that Trump comes to know Christ as His Lord and Savior. You, as a Christian, should too.
Jesus doesn’t vote, nor does he pick candidates.
Anyone claiming otherwise must be talking to some other guy.
“...we have so many Godless so-called Conservatives supporting Trump that we are in trouble.”
As a thankful Catholic who supports Trump I find your comment without merit.
Like Trump & Reagan before him I used to be liberal, pro-abortion pretty much right up until 2005 or so. Thankfully, I have been changed through the Peace of Our Lord, Jesus Christ.
I also know that if we do not elect a Pro America president this cycle we lose the country. Go Trump!!!
If Trump should get this job, you can bet with the mess this country is in he is DEFINATELY going to be looking to a higher force for insight and help!!! We all in turn will also be praying very hard for his success!!!
Amen! God can work through Trump just like he worked through others who did not know Him.
