Trump looks well-positioned to become the Republican nominee; Sanders is at least poised to give Hillary Clinton weeks of heartburn, if not make her completely relive her 2008 campaign nightmare.
On the Republican side, thereâs a limp, last-gasp effort to quash The Donald. Conservative magazine National Review published a special issue and editorial this week calling Trump a âmenace to American conservatismâ and asking those on the right to oppose his candidacy. But itâs probably a move that comes too late.
It remains a mystery as to why a concerted anti-Trump movement didnât blossom earlier. All of the other campaigns assumed someone else would take up the task so they didnât have to do the dirty work â and yet the anti-Trump cavalry never came. As a result, Marco Rubio, Chris Christie, John Kasich and Jeb Bush are left fighting for scraps and with each other. Theyâre in a circular firing squad, squabbling over particular votes and gubernatorial decisions, hoping to score just a pittance of the New Hampshire primary electorate to stay relevant. Remarkably, theyâve essentially conceded that beating Trump there isnât possible. Second and third place will do just fine, their thinking goes.
Trump isnât playing it safe, though, not that anyone would expect him to.
He unleashed a scathing television ad Friday against his primary rival, Ted Cruz, replaying a jittery interview the Texas senator gave on Fox News about immigration.
A stuttering Cruz tries to explain an amendment to immigration legislation he says was designed to remove a path to citizenship, but which Trump slyly frames as âpro-immigrationâ and âpro-amnesty.â

Can’t be. Hillary said she’s winning.
I would love to see Bernie not only win in Iowa, but win by a considerable margin. The Clinton campaign would then be in full panic mode. (Warming up in the bullpen: Joe Biden.)
Sanders hacked Clinton’s campaign strategy from her server.
GO TRUMP!
DITTO!
Stick a Fork in Ted, his election chances are Dead Dead Dead
Obama could rescue Hillary from the FBI investigations.
after cruz marinates in the senate and learns how to be part of the senate rather than egotistical lone wolf, he can have another shot
his chances will be enhanced if he grows
Yes he could, but the question is: does he really want to? If the F.B.I. recommends that she be indicted, he will have a tough time justifying shielding Hillary from an indictment. Does his own reputation mean more to him than Hillary's? He just might turn to Joe Biden and say, "Warm up, Joe, I'm putting you in the game."
Nothing says loser like letting Glenn Beck swear you in on a Mormon compass at your rally. :-)
it is no win for Obama now. if he gets rid of Hillary he is in trouble, if he doesn’t he is in trouble. the country remains divided.
Camp Cruz has 2,000 volunteers sleeping over. True coolaid drinkers.
I know Cruz org. is great, but Trump rallies turn away thousands every place he goes. Cruz people say Trumps people won’t take the time to show up. Meanwhile they show up hours ahead of events so they will get into the venue rather than be turned away. This means standing in the freezing cold, snow or rain. Trump’s people haven’t cared about all the Me Gyn Kelly’s, Rich Lowry’s, Erik Dickhead Dickmeson nasty anti Trump stuff, Trumps just keeps going up in the polls. Trump’s people are loyal.
I say they mostly show up, Iowa has by far the biggest turnout, and that gives Trump a kind of a mandate to breeze to the nomination. If Trump get the 1,000 or so delegate to sow this up the GOP Elite Establishment can’t have a brokered convention or do what Boss Hogg Barbour did rob an election.
One more week and one more chance for HO Me Gyn Crowley Kelly to try to damage Trump. I am sure Trump has 2 dozen different answers for Me Gyn The HO.
Hildabeast better hope Trump doesn’t get elected. Even if the corrupt Obama DOJ declines to indict the witch, Trump will have his Attorney Gen. reopen the case.
I think it’s too late for Biden to get in. If Hillary destructs that leaves Bernie and Martin O’Malley on the ballot. I actually thought O’Malley would be doing better now, but he could still be the beneficiary as the only alternative to Sanders on the ballot.
I also expected O'Malley to do better. He's certainly liberal enough for the Democrat base. O'Malley's no kid, but when the three of them are on the debate stage together, Sanders and Clinton look old enough to be his parents.
If Trump takes it pay more for junk at the gas pump.
What really sealed it for me was when Businessman deal maker Trump who also owns Goldman Sachs stock

Sided with the GOPES and even advocates expanded mandated Ethanol because he thinks it will help him carry IOWA . Which also begs the question of Just how heavily invested is he in Ethanol.
