using the emergency "Mayday" channel in the belief they were not being monitored ??? I thought that channel was always monitored. If not, what's the use?

The king called up his jet fighters
He said you better earn your pay
Drop your bombs between the minarets
Down the Casbah way
As soon as the Shareef was
Chauffeured outta there
The jet pilots tuned to
The cockpit radio blare
As soon as the Shareef was
Outta their hair
The jet pilots wailed
The Shareef don’t like it
Rock the Casbah
Rock the Casbah
The Shareef don’t like it
Rock the Casbah
Rock the Casbah

Why in Sam Hell do we insist on telling everyone on this earth the methods we use to catch terrorists? Is it so they won’t make the same mistakes next time?

I’m sorry, but ANY Muslim pilot should be on every watch list available, and under close surveillance.

but the two foreign pilots, one of whom was flying for an airline A bit frightening to think about. I guess this is bound to happen when the government makes it illegal to do background checks while hiring.
I notice they didn't mention the airline.

In this case it just doesn’t ring true to my ear. Story sets my BS detector off, particularly about the Mayday channel and thinking it’s not being monitored.
It’s just not a reasonable story or perhaps it was just psyops from radical Islamic terrorists. Like Clock boy.

Mayday Channel - otherwise known as Guard channel in US (VHF 121.5 and UHF 243.0). In the military the UHF guard channel is always monitored along with any other frequency you are talking on so that if someone is in distress (and transmitting on the emergency channel) then any military aircraft in range can hear them and contact the appropriate air traffic control (or rescue) facility. Many commercial aircraft also monitor the VHF emergency channel (mayday/guard channel) along with air traffic control facilities. So it is rather stupid to think that you can carry on a conversation over guard channel and not expect many ears to be listening. And if you are transmitting over guard (mayday) and are not talking about an emergency of some sort, then either people are going to tell you to shut up because you are interrupting normal air traffic control conversations, or they are going to be naturally suspicious.

Did they catch them? Are they prosecuting them? Are they executing them?
Or is this another catch and release operation?

Agree it is not a well written story. But there have been several instances in the last decade of Muslim commerical airline pilots going off the deep end.

Several months ago there was a poster on FreeRepublic whose husband was a pilot for a commercial airline here in America. He had a muslim, middle eastern first officer who seemed to be anti American, if I’m remembering correctly, and badmouthed America to the extent that the captain refused to leave the cockpit with him in control. They are here and they are just waiting for their chance, I firmly believe
