Trump is at the top of the polls, and that may not change. Nevertheless, he will not receive my support. I am rather tired of a screeching establishment requiring that we support whomever is the current frontunner, and telling us we need to "get in line", like robots. That kind of talk is groupthink, much like Obamamania. It has no place in conservatism.
Trump is the kind of candidate who appeals to base emotions and the thirst for popular appeal. We should never treat candidates as celebrities. But increasingly, we do. I once thought that those on our side of the aisle were better than liberals in that we don't vote based on mindless, superficial reasons that got the similarly resume-challenged disaster known as Barack Obama into office. But unsurprisingly, we're just as capable of the same failure to treat the election process seriously.

Be pure. Demand a cloned combination of William F. Buckley and Barry Goldwater. I would LOVE that, but it isn’t going to happen. In my estimation, Trump would accomplish two things that NO ONE ELSE would do. Curtail Mexican illegal immigration, and slow down the Muslimification of America. Okay, so maybe the EPA would not be eliminated, or abortions continue unabated. Take the HALF A LOAF. No one else is getting rid of the EPA either. Maybe Trump is full of $h!t. I am sure that is pretty much the state of affairs with politicians. Pretty much every other option will be worse than what Trump offers. Flame away, I can take it (or turn off the computer).
PAIN is electing a majority in the house has gotten us nothing because they'r too big a COWARDS to use the power of the purse.
Now it's time for something completely different
So if you can't lead, you need to either follow of get the Hell out of the way, or yes, there will be PAIN.
I swear RedState has hired a bunch of interns to file Trump hit pieces, 24/7.
Sure seems like it :(
Red State and Eric Erickson...good bye!

Thank you
Who created the vacuum that allowed Trump to gain a foothold?
The Republicans thought conservatives were going to go through the motions and hold their noses again for whatever POS nominee the establishment put up, and got completely burned.
Now all of a sudden we're getting treated to articles about Trump's past liberal statements - FROM THE SAME CLOWNS THAT DID NOTHING ABOUT THE DOLES, MCCAINS, ROMNEYS AND TONS OF OTHER REPUBLICANS WHO AIDED AND ABETTED THE DEMOCRAT PARTY IN CONGRESS.
My vote goes to Trump, or Cruz if he somehow makes it. I am NOT voting for anyone else, and that includes Republicans on down-ticket races.
We didn't before the invention of the television camera. After that, politicians became ugly movie stars. And politics is now an alias for stardom. They perform for the camera just like and athlete, preacher or porn star.
Just sick of the GOPe mouthpieces arranging for Trump & Cruz supporters to fight each other.
Bottom line is they want someone who they control and only benefit from the bloodletting.
Well.....that's concerning
Whoa - summary judgment ... sort of.
I don’t get to listen to Rush al the time but when I hear him he does what he has always done, analyze the current situation.
He is by far the most neutral, objective, commenter there is.
If Trump wins the nomination, I will be voting for the most conservative candidate on the ballot, who will definitely not be Trump.
“Ding ding ding...we have a winner”.
Hey ERIC after Mitt Romney YOUR PICK we have already had some pain!!! STICK A SOCK IN IT, furthermore GO TO HELL !!!!
Yeb! And Hillary would show we have learned nothing. I want someone who I believe will and can stand-up to the GOPe, Dems and media.
Have fun at Redstate.com.
Chalk it up to yet another miracle of the Trump campaign... Of course, that is if they maintain this viewpoint going forward - and not simply drop it come another 4 years and they're pimping for yet another RudyMcRomney candidate and telling us to hold our noses and vote for the good of our country...
As I have repeatedly said, my vote is no longer freely given. If a candidate wants my vote, he has to campaign for it, not just in the primaries but in the general as well. I'm no longer going to hold my nose and blindly vote. I've tried it that way, and honestly, my nose is still bruised from Romney.
Both Cruz and Trump have campaigned for my vote; the two percenters have not. I won't be voting for any of the two percenters should some admittedly fantastic turns of event happen and they reach the nomination.
I know!
