Trump is at the top of the polls, and that may not change. Nevertheless, he will not receive my support. I am rather tired of a screeching establishment requiring that we support whomever is the current frontunner, and telling us we need to "get in line", like robots. That kind of talk is groupthink, much like Obamamania. It has no place in conservatism.
Trump is the kind of candidate who appeals to base emotions and the thirst for popular appeal. We should never treat candidates as celebrities. But increasingly, we do. I once thought that those on our side of the aisle were better than liberals in that we don't vote based on mindless, superficial reasons that got the similarly resume-challenged disaster known as Barack Obama into office. But unsurprisingly, we're just as capable of the same failure to treat the election process seriously.

Too many variables at this time to make predictions. Ask me again after the primaries. Thanks.
Good post.......Just finished sending in a donation. ;>)
Thank you for your reply.
Thank you very much. Gator!!
My gut tells me the same thing. The first election I ever paid attention to was in 1960. I was only a wee lad, but I remember that the contest captured the whole nation's attention.
The same was true for 1968 and 1972, when I finally cast my first vote.
As you say, the 1980 election was even more dramatic that those of the prior 20 years. What unfolded over the next eight years was nothing short of the rebirth of the American Promise.
I'm guardedly optimistic (in my old age), but I'm getting a similar feeling as what I had in 1980. I feel that something wonderful is coming.
Trump is not perfect but I will refuse to shrink away and sit on my hands and let that lesbian harpy win.
When I saw her step forward to pitch for her son, I almost chocked. Bless her heart.
It’s good to see you too. I miss seeing my FRiends.
I read something, here on FR, sometime ago, about the people still running with low percentages. They all have a super PAC funding them. In the end, after the nominee has been selected, the losing PACees divvy up the money. Did I read that right?
LOL!
Admitted Cruz supporter, but you can be DAM sure i’ll vote for our nominee, Trump or no Trump (TV Star i call him).
well, not sure about Kaisch...???!!! heeehehee
Agree wholeheartedly with the ZOTZ for those willing to LOSE at any cost (Hellery, the Queen of Bengazi anyone?!)
I sincerely understand the logic catfish. But for the sake of argument, let’s try this out. Suppose DT gets the nod and whilst in the WH, he flips and flops like a fish outta water. Do you think the uproar from us conservatives will be MORE or LESS than if Hellery was doin’ her thang?
My considered opinion is that in masse, all conservatives and anyone putting trust in DT will be FURIOUS! And the press would LOVE to print and “Breaking News” that noticeable fact daylight to dawn.
And we know the DEM will get by just as the last 8 years of this SOB, no ‘hit pieces’ on that POS.
think about it.
These Repubbies who say they will vote for Hildebeest or Slanders if Trump is our candidate -- well, doesn't that about sum it all up? ...they were Democrap socialists all along!
Calluvdubya, I WALKED your walk from 1975 until 2012 -- that's 37 years of applying the same strategy that you STILL apply, of voting for liberal Republicans in order to "stop" liberal Democrats.
{^) And I had the gall to criticize the Republican party for being such a leftist mess! What the hell -- I VOTED FOR IT!!!
I love Mark Levin but turn him off the instant I hear him say, "I'll vote for Trump in the general." It means he is willing to continue voting to turn the Republican party left, and then Levin will be the FIRST to complain about getting what he voted for!!!!! It boggles the mind.
In 2012, I decided to STOP voting for what I want to lose and to START voting for what I want to win.
Your "brilliant plan" would have us four years into a Republican administration whose leader would advance leftism on all fronts. And I bet you would be one of the folks complaining the loudest about getting what you voted for. Just like I used to do.
Wake the hell up.
Just like Trump promises to be.
Just out of curiosity, if Donald Trump had not entered the race, who would everybody be supporting now?
I haven’t met a single conservative Trump person on FR who won’t vote Cruz if he’s the nominee.
I’ve met plenty of moderate people off of FR who won’t vote at all if Trump isn’t on the ballot.
Trump is hawking the most important conservative issues that face this generation, period. If we can catch them with security and get them with the crowd, we’ll have a chance to talk with them about other things.
But SOME people, like the esteemed gentlemen who rode the lightning today, are either paid trolls or morons or crybabies.
“demonstrated long term conservative principles like Cruz”
Raphael Edward is a construct. Or is it Ted who is the construct?
Fake prayers, fake man.
YOU wake the hell up. And for that matter, GROW the hell up.
If Trump is the nominee, and he will be, then he’s also the only shot that we have to save this country short of a civil war. Because if Hillary or Bernie get in, there will be enough fraudulent votes to wipe out electoral conservatism for a generation if not longer.
Hell, Trump is better than Romney was. At least Trump is talking conservative during the campaign. I know you don’t believe him, but at least he’s talking like it. You’re not voting for a guy who’s campaigning like a liberal like Romney did; you’re voting for an unknown factor. On the other hand, if Hillary gets in? You KNOW what she’s going to do. At least there’s a chance that Trump will do the right thing. Better than Bush, Rubio, Hillary, Bernie, and everyone else in the race.
What you’re doing is akin to chowing down on a lump of rat poison because you don’t trust the loaf of bread to not be poisoned.
So my opinion is to invite you to stop all this holier than thou nonsense. I know you won’t, but I have to write this anyways because I’m just a masochist like that.
I second that motion! Jane rocks!!
BTTT!
Ah, Operation Zotback. Very good.
That should keep the “others” lying low for a while.
Unless, of course they to, want to be banned along with their Amigos.
Adios Trolls!
