The racial dogwhistle has been an important political technique in recent decades-- a carefully coded message, designed to tap into racial prejudices without the unwitting target realizing that this is what is happening. Tali Mendelberg has argued that such techniques gain their force from twinned but countervailing forces: there is a Norm of Racial Egalitarianism, which brands outright expression of racism unacceptable. But there is also, in most white people, a high level of what is called 'racial resentment', simmering unacknowledged and unarticulated. A dogwhistle utterance exploits this: by talking about 'the culture of the inner city' or 'welfare' a politician may avoid mentioning race, while still causing voters to bring their racial resentment to bear on their voting decisions

The MSM media is employing the Big Lie technique against Trump. They repeat the lie that he and his supporters are racist.

Neither Muslims or Hispanics are a race. When people refer to Muslims as a race they generally mean Arabs who are also not a race. When people refer to Hispanics they mean mestizos or a mix of European and Native Indian, also not races. For example my wife could be called Hispanic, but she is Italian, Spanish and Basque by heritage, she is Peruvian and refers to mixed European and Indian as Cholos.

This is all a dodge by the left. It wouldn't make any difference if Trump was for or against illegal immigration. The left would still call us racists. If you are not for every little unconstitutional policy concerning race, then you are a racist according to the left. Might as well smile and live with it.
