Trump: “Let’s get to be a little establishment. We’ve got to get things done folks, OK?”

He's not going to get fully pregnant, just a little bit pregnant. What's the harm in that?

"I think they're warming up. I want to be honest, I have received so many phone calls from people that you would call establishment, from people -- generally speaking ... conservatives, Republicans -- that want to come onto our team," Trump told reporters in Las Vegas before an appearance at the Outdoor Sportsman Awards...

At an earlier rally, Trump painted himself as a pragmatic dealmaker capable of working with lawmakers, in contrast with Cruz, his top rival in the Feb. 1 Iowa caucuses...

"You know what? There's a point at which: Let's get to be a little establishment," Trump told the crowd at the South Point resort and casino. "We've got to get things done folks, OK? Believe me, don't worry. We're going to make such great deals."

A fine soundbite for a general election candidate, which I think is the point of him talking like this. He's not puffing either when he says that establishmentarians are cozying up to him. They are, and some of them aren't shy about admitting their preference for him over Cruz.

"Exactly. Trump is for Trump and he makes no attempt to conceal it. That's why his endless reversals over the past 15 years don't damage him the way Romney's considerably fewer flip-flops did: Trump barely makes a pretense of standing for something beyond his own success. The goal is to win. If muttering about "Mexican rapists" helps him win the primary, okay. If pivoting and presenting himself as a dealmaker who can build a centrist consensus helps him win the general election, okay. If and when he's president, he'll figure out whatever he needs to say to "win" at that point. One way he could "win" is by surprising his relatively small base of hardcore fans and signing a comprehensive immigration deal, which would earn him all sorts of Strange New Respect from his critics and signal that he's capital-s Serious about governing. He's an opportunist down to his bones. And he's so confident that he's going to win the primaries now that he's not even afraid of lending a bit of credence to Cruz's attacks that he's a phony populist who'll play ball with Mitch McConnell if given the chance. Maybe I will, says Trump. McConnell and Chuck Schumer know much more about how to "get things done" in Washington than Trump does. If you want to make America great again, they're indispensable aides in that task, right?"

"Never mind Trump. He can count on his cult of personality to forgive him anything, and the rest of the primary electorate has already priced his opportunism into his stock..."

Donald Trump is reverting to his real crony capitalist self a little early. No wonder the GOPe establishment is flocking to him with their hands out!

As you might remember, days ago I was still defending Trump. Most of my posts have been sympathetic to Trump over Cruz. Not anymore. This shows it all. They know Donald will make deals and Cruz will not. The secret is out! Trump’s tactics were done to take air out of Cruz’s sails.

"We're going to make such great deals"

Speaking of "let's make a deal", what kind of deals has Trump made with scumbag Andrew Cuomo, and the NY Cuomo Family DynastyTM

I agree. I’m pretty sure he will tack left from here until the election. Slowly eyes will be open but by then it will probably be too late.

Trump is the battlefield surgeon. He will stop the bleeding and stabilize the patient. We can work on rehabilitation after.

I'm afraid that a large number of conservatives, tired of the establishment, are allowing themselves to be duped by Trump.

Imagine waking up two years from now with President Trump reverted to his true, liberal self, and realizing that we had a chance to put a real anti-GOPe president into office, but didn't.

Believe me, don't worry. We're going to make such great deals."

I learned the hard way decades ago that whenever someone I was going to do a deal with said: "Believe me, don't worry," that always meant it was time to worry." I always learned to regret the times I didn't worry and take action.

I have been a Cruz supporter, but was feeling OK at the prospect of Trump winning the nomination.

But watching Trump in the last few weeks has soured me on him.

I don't think Trump has any principles at all regarding policy, and now I don't trust him to do what he says he'll do.

That’s the bottom line. I am still not convinced he will fool enough people to win the nomination. Gotta see the votes first. To thinking people his cheap shots make him look really small.

I agree.

And his biggest swing left to who he really is, won't happen till after he has the Republican nomination. And that swing will be - " Building an ACTUAL wall, is stupid. There are other ways to do it. I will make an agreement with Congress to enforce the laws more. It will be a great agreement. I will win. "

And the MAIN reason for people originally supporting him will be gone. But they will be invested in him already, and that will be that.

You want to talk about Cruz making deals?

Putting Congress in Charge on Trade
‘Fast track’ authority will give lawmakers more say over agreements that are vital for economic growth.
By PAUL RYAN And TED CRUZ
April 21, 2015 7:36 p.m. ET
The United States is making headway on two historic trade agreements, one with 11 countries on the Pacific Rim and another with America’s friends in Europe. These two agreements alone would mean greater access to a billion customers for American manufacturers, farmers and ranchers.

Shade of Obama in his thinking for sure.

Obama TOLD everyone exactly what he was going to do while he was campaigning the first time......., people poo pooed it and/or did not care to discern what he meant.

Well 8 years later........he succeeded.., and people are now disturbed??? If only they had known???
