Will Smith will be joining his wife Jada Pinkett Smith in boycotting the 88th Academy Awards over this year’s all-white acting nominees, the actor said on Thursday’s Good Morning America on ABC.
“My wife’s not going. It would be awkward for me to show up with Charlize [Theron],†Smith joked to Robin Roberts. “No, we’ve discussed it, and we’re a part of this community, but at this current time, we’re uncomfortable to stand there and say this is okay.â€
Pinkett Smith posted a video online last Sunday, in which she lamented the treatment of black actors in entertainment.
“Maybe it is time that we pull back our resources, and we put them back into our communities, into our programs, and we make programs for ourselves that acknowledge us in ways that we see fit that are just as good as the so-called mainstream ones,†she said.
The actress’s statement came following an announcement by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) that all 20 Oscar nominations in the four major acting categories had gone to white actors for the second consecutive year.
Smith, who many believed would pick up a nomination this year for his role in Concussion, was among those left off the ballot.

Smith was raised in a Baptist household and went to a Catholic school, but he no longer identifies himself as religious. Though he is not a Scientologist and has denied rumors claiming him as a member of the Church of Scientology, he has spoken favorably about it, saying “I just think a lot of the ideas in Scientology are brilliant and revolutionary and non-religious.”
Smith gave $1.3 million to charities in 2007, of which $450,000 went to two Christian ministries, and $122,500 went to three Scientology organizations; the remaining beneficiaries included “a Los Angeles mosque, other Christian-based schools and churches, and [.....] the Yitzhak Rabin Memorial Center in Israel.” Smith and his wife have also founded a private elementary school in Calabasas, California, the New Village Leadership Academy. Federal tax filing showed that Will Smith donated $1.2 million to the school in 2010.

But hey, what they need is Affirmative Oscar Equality -Give out the awards strictly based on ethnicity of the people involved with a film. Never mind if it's the best film. This is the only way to insure fairness and diversity.
The liberals must really be struggling with this. Competition is so cruel. Maybe they should give an Oscar to everyone nominated? But wait, then the people not nominated will have their feelings hurt.

Remember the year before the 2002 Oscars when this same kind of crap came up so the next year (in 2002), they gave the best actress award to Halle Berry and the best actor to Denzel Washington. Same thing will happen next year.

No offense intended. My wife is 5’2” and she’s the most attractive woman in pretty much whatever room she walks into. I am only 5’11”, though, so we kind of go together as a couple. Yeb! is about 6’4” and his wife is about 4’10”. They look ridiculous together.
I don’t have much sympathy for protestations RE: racism by a group of people who self-segregate via BET, United Negro College Fund, Black Congressional Caucuses, Black Chambers of Commerce etc...

So I’m watching that new Ray Liotta/J Lo corrupt cop show, I was enjoying it till Liotta kissed a dude out of nowhere. Then in the next scene Liotta was standing there alone and you could hear the shower in the background, ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwww. Do they have to put faggotry in EVERYTHING?
