20 Eagle Forum leaders endorse Ted Cruz for President
HOUSTON, Texas - In a letter today, 20 Eagle Forum state leaders and activists endorsed Ted Cruz for President, naming Cruz as the leader America needs and the best of the candidates competing for the Republican nomination.
"I am honored to have the support of so many Eagles, at the grassroots and all across this nation," Cruz said. "Phyllis Schlafly has given me much good advice over the years, and I admire the courageous grassroots activists who are carrying on her great work. Our nation is indebted to Eagle Forum for their conservative leadership, now in its fifth decade. Eagle Forum understands the unequaled power of the American people when they rise up against the Washington cartel and in defense of our nation's founding freedoms."
Full text of the letter appears below.
In the conservative trenches, Eagle Forum activists have been shaping American policy and electing conservative leaders for nearly 45 years. We know the urgency of this presidential election, and we have weighed the candidates seriously and thoroughly.
Among the Republican candidates, Ted Cruz stands out. His courageous conservatism is indisputable. As Solicitor General of Texas, he successfully protected the Ten Commandments and the Pledge of Allegiance. He stood up for veterans' free speech rights. Ted Cruz defended religious liberty in public schools, the workplace, and the church. Ted Cruz' resume is just as remarkable as his courage: Cruz does not simply choose the right side in the battles that matter: he leads the battle to victory.
As a United States Senator, Ted Cruz has led the fight against Planned Parenthood and Obamacare. He has defended marriage, opposed judicial activism, exposed Common Core, and worked to secure our border. He has eloquently defended our freedom of speech and 2nd Amendment rights.
The Washington cartel has betrayed the American people. Too many Republicans have abused the trust of conservatives. It is time for conservatives to claim our nation for liberty and to restore opportunity: as Ted Cruz says, to reignite the promise of America.
Ted Cruz embodies Eagle Forum's mission: "to enable conservative and pro-family men and women to participate in the process of self-government and public policy making so that America will continue to be a land of individual liberty, respect for family integrity, public and private virtue, and private enterprise."
Ted Cruz is the Reaganesque leader our country needs in 2016. While establishment Republicans led the charge for amnesty and betrayed the trust of those who elected them, Ted Cruz fought to uphold the law and defend our borders. Ted Cruz has demonstrated steadfastness, character, and intelligence in Washington.
50 years ago, during another strategic election, Phyllis Schlafly reminded America that ultimately, the people do not serve the government: government must serve the people. Now once more, it is time for a law-abiding, truth-telling president in the Oval Office.
With this in mind, we, the undersigned Eagle Forum state leaders, enthusiastically endorse Ted Cruz for President of the United States. From the grassroots up, we will work to ensure his victory: Ted Cruz is our choice, and we refuse to be an echo.
Faithfully,

She has been a leading Conservative for decades. She’d run circles around me even at her age.
Don’t demean the women. She’s been a very well respected Conservative for a long long time.
Looks like schafley has not convinced all Eagle Forum activists to support the pro-abort clinton donor!

see my post #23
Grace, for me it’s best explained like this.
If you don’t want TPP, don’t for TPA the support legislation.
Don’t ever do one single thing that brings defeat one step closer.
That’s my take on it for what it’s worth.
Do you make a good argument. It has merit. Is it as safe as avoiding the problem up front? I’m not sold on it.
I know but she is wrong this time
Your link is taking folks back to the top of the thread.
I believe you made an inadvertent error.
re: Post #23
No, when all is said and done, she’s right.
There are many things to consider, and once folks committed to Ted they lost the ability to reason.
I know you folks think that can only apply to Trump because of his colorful past, but it’s not true.
There are leadership qualities, economics and other issues, as well as the ability to drive things home against Congress and people who disagree with him across the nation.
Phyllis has considered the broad strokes and made a wise choice.
This isn’t as simply as you think, and she is not a shallow woman.
I appreciate the respectful response.
Tedâs catching fire like the Hindenburg.
LOL
I’ve noticed that a lot of the Trump “endorsements” leave an avenue of retreat.
But Phyllis herself endorsed Donald Trump.
I posted an article on this forum about a month ago where Shaffly directly and explicitly endorsed Trump for POTUS.
If you want to dig back, back, back into my postings you will find said article.
I have no energy for it.
This sleight-of-hand is like 'Stolen Valor'....something folks don't like.
Phyllis, 91, is a friend of mine from the old anti-ERA door-to-door bell-ringing, street-trudging days in Illinois. I saw her again when she attended as an honored guest and strong FR supporter at the Freeper-sponsored Manager's Banquet in DC a number of years ago.
She is one of conservatism's revered founding mothers and doesn't deserve Cruz's crude and opportunistic ploy to steal her name.

I too think he was too cute by half here.
There are some people you don’t treat this way, and Schlafley is one of them.
If Reagan were alive today, would we try to go around him to try to discredit his endorsement?
Ted should be ashamed of himself for doing this.

Phyllis Schlafly: Trump Is ‘Last Hope For America
Long-time conservative leader and publicist Phyllis Schlafly believes that the only
person who can save America from the precipice of disaster is Donald J. Trump.
In a weekend interview with WND, Schlafly said of the GOP front-runner, “He does look like he’s
the last hope [for America]. We don’t hear anybody saying what he’s saying. In fact, most of the
people who ought to be lining up with him are attacking him.”
Phyllis Schlafly: Trump Is ‘Last Hope For America’

Ted can’t let stand the fact that she endorsed Trump. He has to make it sound like he was the one endorsed.
?
I was OK with Trump until he viciously attacked Cruz. Hey for all any of us know Phyllis Schlafley could be having second thoughts as well.
Would not say much for her if she approved of Trumps attacks on Cruz.
Hey Mark Levin agrees with me, Rush perhaps to a much lesser degree
Phyllis did not endorse Cruz.
It’s also disrespectful to not take someone at their word, and speculate that they may be changing their mind.
What is it with you and not being able to accept Schlafley’s decision?
Does she have to approve of Trump’s actions toward Cruz to back him? No.
As for Mark, Trump came out with a great policy paper in support of the Second Amendment. He is a CCW permit holder and uses it. He has encouraged other CCW holders to use theirs. He has touch on the subject of creating a national CCW.
Despite this, Levin has a that chart out there that Isara has been posting for three months that dings Trump on the Second Amendment.
When Mark Can’t even be truthful about serious issues, his opinion means very little to me.
