In the ‘80s when the holiday was being considered, there was quite a debate over combining Washington’s and Lincoln’s birthdays to make room on the federal holiday calendar for King.
We had a local DJ, The Greaseman, a shock jock ‘way more clever than Howard Stern ever though of being. His schtick was to play a character filled with false bravado.
At the height of the debate, he came on the air one morning in a quiet, reflective mood; very much out of character for him. He said he regretted the controversy and offered his solution:
Shoot four more and take the whole damn week off.

At least think how ironic this is, and with what Dr. King stood for, it is actually a very good lesson to what he valued.
The writer states “all” whites killed Dr. King. He then goes on to validate his prejudice for the rest of the article.
Think about what Dr. King stood against. That “all” them or “all” those had some trait or where guilty of some event. Some are good attributes but most are bad.
He was fighting a thinking that said:
All blacks are shiftless and lazy.
All Jews are money-grubbing Christ killers.
All Italians are mobsters.
All Poles and Swedes are dumb retards.
All Africans are just barely up from apes.
All Asians are good at math.
All whites have privilege.
All Indians are noble lovers of nature.
All Scots are angry, drunken fighters.
All women are “biotches”.
All good doctors and lawyers are Jews.
All whites killed Dr. King.

I think Oliver Thomas should talk to his fellow white leftists in South Africa and see how well the self flagellation worked for them. The way I hear it the ANC party elites are singing songs about killing whites.
Fine with me. Maybe substitute Richard Henry Lee, who introduced the proposal in the Continental Congress to declare independence. His birthday is Jan. 20.
