Trump bungles Bible reference at Liberty University
POLITICO ^ | 01/18/2016 | Blake Hounshell

Donald Trump, speaking to a religious crowd at Virginia's Liberty University on Monday, turned to scripture.

"We're going to protect Christianity. I can say that. I don't have to be politically correct," he said. "Two Corinthians, 3:17, that's the whole ballgame ... is that the one you like?"

I’m not saying you have to be the entertainer all the time, and I think Trump knows this as well, and as the campaign progresses he will take different approaches. But so far, it’s what has gotten him to where he is.

If I thought Trump believed this, he'd be a much stronger second choice behind Ted Cruz. I'm certain Cruz believes this.

As for Obama, he'd be more likely to think: "Now Allah is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of Satan is, there is submission". Having been raised in a Muslim environment, and as a believer is government's absolute power, our communist leader prefers submission over freedom.

Oh for crying out loud, his humanitarian contributions have nothing to do with his claiming he a a Christian, being on stage waving his Bible around and reading passages out of it. He is an Elmer Gantry if I ever saw one.

I am for Trump if he understands that only Christisnity is compatible with Individualism and Natural Rights from God (Our Constitution).. Our Justice System-—to be just—has to be based on Right Reason (science/Natural Law which includes God’s Law) which is ONLY aligned to Christian Ethics.

There is NO other “Just” System on earth which gives individual dignity and worth to ALL people equally-—None. We have a satanic cabal controlling the SCOTUS and it is entirely unconstitutional and removed from Reality (Right Reason/Natural Law)l.

I want a return to a true Justice System——the only Constitutional kind. A Justice System only promotes “public virtue”—nothing else is Just.

But so far, it’s what has gotten him to where he is.

Where he is: which is he's got tons of attention for himself, but done nothing to advance conservatism.

His biggest political victory so far in his life was using his media to help legalize gay marriage, and putting his gay activist judge to attack a Christian girl. Is that something you support?

Why would you write something so asinine?

“Liberty” is a goal, not a call for God’s kingdom on earth.

And as for not caring about governments, have you read the Bible? Your statement is so erroneous it’s embarrassing.

To: dfwgator; All

.

I’d love to support either Ted Cruz or Donald Trump for POTUS ... and I’m a staunch Ted Cruz campaigner.

Why ?

We all want a BIG Wall with Mexico.

We all want to cancel ObamaCare.

We all want to scrap the Iran Deal.

We all want to rebuild the U.S. Military.

We all want to ship Syrian Islamic Terrorist Refugees back to the Middle East.

We all want to protect the Second Amendment.

We all want to fix the Veteran’s Admin health care system.

We all want to delete Common Core.

We all want to exterminate ISIS.

We all want to stop Islamic Visas into America until we get a better handle on accurate screening processes.

Need I continue ?

The acrimony between political camps at Free Republic is downright assinine (sp) and stupid.

How about we just let the Iowa and New Hampshire voters do their primaries ?

Thank GOD that neither Jeb Bush, Marco Rubio, Lindsay Graham, or John Kasisch will win ANY 2016 GOP state primaries.

.

My husband DOES refer to the second/third books as SECOND and THIRD. I do not, but he does.

“We’re all just passionate about our candidates and we get a little over the top sometimes.”

Yeh like you intimating Trump is showing signs of early alzheimers. LOL!

Sorry, I mean to say, my husband is the one who calls them: TWO and THREE, but I do refer to them as second and third. Time for another cup of coffee!

Oddly enough it does not remind me of that.

This is pretty much a non-issue. The only thing that even made it worthy of a thread is that it kinda seemed like Trump was pandering a week bit to the Religious Right and, in so doing, he managed to sound a little phony.

Money quote: "The Art of the Deal is second to the Bible," Trump said magnanimously. As for other books, "The Bible blows them away. There’s nothing like it, the Bible."

Let's all breathe easier. Trump says there is nothing like the Bible. That is, until there is.

Ban all speech?

Look st this thread and tell me something positive came from it.

2 vs 2nd is the focus here, and that is evidently so enlightening a topic the usual characters are here trying to destroy Trump over it.

If you don’t see that as evil, what then, an example of righteousness?

It seems as of all rational thought has left the building...

BTW: I appreciate that you spoke out on the British issue. I seldom do that for Cruz anymore. Did you do it on this thread by calling it for what it is?

Hold up a mirror to your candidate for a look at the Elmer Gantry man.

Turning that silly statement around was easy.

Our constitution which makes us unique in the world is all about God and Freedom. I call that the whole ballgame as far as the US goes. You might also read Vattel for a better understanding of “Nature’s God.”

Pope John Paul II, put it best, “Freedom consists not in doing what we like, but in having the right to do what we ought.”

And that’s all we should demand from our government, to have that freedom. Government shouldn’t coerce people to do what they ought, merely to grant them the freedom to do so.
