Donald Trump was on Fox and Friends this morning siding with the GOP establishment, suggesting that everybody in Washington hates Ted Cruz and that he is very unpopular there and because of that he won't be able to get 'deals done' as president:

I hope so. I certainly think that America is ready for a strong leader. So sick of the mamby pambies that we have running in the Republican campaign. Finally get a guy that is going kick butt and take names later. The fact that his in not PC is a bonus.

I don’t think he is going to pick Palin as VP. I really don’t.

Doesn't matter. Still the same window dressing on a guy without a single Conservative principle. Wrap it in the flag and call it conservatism, but it surely ain't.

I want Trump because like Reagan he was sinful and believed in issues that were not good but has seen the light and because an even better conservative because of it.

Cruz we are finding out is not the conservative he presents himself as. I knew if from day one. It is so nice to see people waking up to the fraud. I just thank God it is being noticed before it would have been too late.

Platitudes. largely without evidence. Too hopey-changey for me.

Cruz we are finding out is not the conservative he presents himself as. I knew if from day one.

Again. no evidence. His record is tremendous and consistent, all the way beck to his high school days. Heller, and the 10-commandment fight in Texas alone are more proof than 90% of the Republican party.

For me it is all about character, and always will be. That character is judged by Conservative principles which are derived from the record, more than from promises on the election trail.

Trump's record is flatly void of such principles. He isn't even on my radar. Now, let him PROVE his so called Conservatism - then I'll listen.

Trump’s record

Well that is your first mistake. He does not have a record. Never voted for anything. So unless you are lying or trying to make things up then really you should support Trump.

And yes Reagan was a baby killer until he saw the light.....can’t get worse then that. Now you would have not supported him. I of course did not vote for him. My first vote was Bush since I was so young.

Of course he has a record - His entire life has been in the spotlight, and he votes with his money. His record is decidedly liberal in terms of his associates, what he supports, and in terms of his past comments, and certainly his lifestyle.

And no, I really will never support Trump. As I said, I require a Conservative character... One which he has never demonstrated in all his years... Until he gets on the campaign stump, that is.

And yes Reagan was a baby killer until he saw the light.....can’t get worse then that.

No. That is false. Luckily this meme has been going around, so I had this handy:

Nat'lReview:Reagan’s Darkest Hour

And in Reagan, by the time of his presidency, his two full terms as Governor more than established his Conservative credz. I have no such evidence with Trump... primarily, his 'conservatism' is about 3 years old, by reason of his statements, with little to show by way of actions.

Now you would have not supported him. I of course did not vote for him. My first vote was Bush since I was so young.

As I have said before, my votes for Ronald Reagan are considered the only time my endorsement was freely given, without reserve. Had Hunter (or Tanc) made it, they would have counted as such also, and now Cruz. It is that rare. Why would I throw away a Conservative of such caliber for a liberal NY Yankee?

I read your link. Horrible. He signed it because his veto would be overridden. Big Woop. It is easy to say, Oops....sorry.....same with being the only President to sign Amnesty. Look I like the guy but he made two mistakes in his offices. And trust me it would be heavily discussed here today if things were the same and Reagan was running.

Trump is not perfect. In fact, I don’t want a perfect president. I also don’t want a person who wanted to be President since birth (Cruz).....it is weird. We already had that in JFK and Clinton. So Trump will make our country better through heavy hand which we need right now. Also, we have the Supreme Court to think about and I want Trump to be in charge because I don’t trust Cruz to pick the conservatives. Today was perfect example of the Senate passing the Michigan Lawyer getting a life time term. Where was Cruz? No where! He didn’t care. That is more important then anything.

It was by no means 'oops, sorry' - What he set up was an extremely narrow exception - trying to head off full blown abortion. It caught him by surprise that his 'panel of doctors' would so egregiously abuse the allowance by way of rubber-stamping. Not to mention that he was rather inexperienced as a governor at the time (5 mos.into his first term).

What you said though is: 'And yes Reagan was a baby killer until he saw the light.....can’t get worse then that'. That article and many more deny your claim. Reagan was always pro-life. He was NEVER Pro-choice. That early mistake (which he fully admitted, and it grieved him) simply galvanized him against all treachery in the matter, and he remains the father of the modern Pro-Life movement today. No president has ever been as unabashedly pro-life as he.

same with being the only President to sign Amnesty. Look I like the guy but he made two mistakes in his offices. And trust me it would be heavily discussed here today if things were the same and Reagan was running.

Your 'amnesty' comment is another whole kettle of fish - and Reagan made more mistakes than those - Usually by being too trusting of his opponents. The salient point is this: He was a devout and principled man, who tried mightily to do the right thing according to principle. And his presidency, for all it's flaws, was the greatest time in modern history because of his principled stand. Rather than criticizing his mistakes, imagine if those principles had not been there to govern him.

And the comparison is without merit because, as I have stated before, Trump has no indication that he adheres to Conservative principles at all. Nary a one.

So Trump will make our country better through heavy hand which we need right now.

By what criteria? By what proof? He's a blowhard and changes positions like the wind. Even within the last week, you are now supporting King Corn, the very thing that Trump accused Cruz of doing, while Cruz's position (even in dire straits) has never changed.

And now you are supporting touch-back amnesty - right along the lines of the Gang of Eight bill that Cruz fought so hard against (only to be accused of being for it by Trump) - Even while Cruz's position has not changed a whit.

No, trump is a big government liberal. He is not going to do anything about Life. He is not going to do anything to protect marriage. He likes single-payer insurance, Yet you trust him to dismantle Obamacare? He's already moved on immigration. He's already moved on subsidies. He's a deal maker. That's what he does. That means compromise. Without Conservative principle, what won't be on the table, open to negotiation?

You are being played. How much more big gov is going to be acceptable to you? Where's your tipping point?

Also, we have the Supreme Court to think about and I want Trump to be in charge because I don’t trust Cruz to pick the conservatives.

Riiight. Conservatives like Trump's whacko left sister whom he has endorsed as an example. How could Cruz possibly do worse than that?

There isn't any sense in talking about this, man. I respect you, but for the life of me, I cannot get a bearing on what you see in the man. How you can possibly expect a NY liberal Yankee to deliver up the Conservative solutions we so desperately need is wholly beyond my ken. It's simple math. Look to the record. That's what Conservatives do.

I understand your Reagan points and it probably did happen that way and I appreciate all the great things he did to our country. He was a very strong leader at a time that we needed badly.

Corn ethanol never caused me any worry. Could care less about it but think we should not have different types of gas anyway. The Democrats did that silliness back in the day.

The only reason I am 100 percent for Trump is because of Strength. We need a strong president after Obama. He is going to take care of terrorism and immigration. If nothing else, that is the two most important thing that is facing our demise. If we don’t handle those two things we have no country.

The Supreme Court is important also and I’d truth Trump over Hillary or Bernie.

Cruz is just not ready to be President. I don’t think he is strong enough on immigration or Terrorism. He’d be great on Supreme Court nominees, but our countries future is based on defeating terrorism mostly.

That is really the bottom line for me. If Cruz is our nominee, I am voting for him. So it is a win/win for all of us no matter who wins.

I have to admit that the Sarah endorsement and her staying in Iowa will pretty much make this race over as Trump will most likely win Iowa now.

But again, time to tell. Another debate January 28 and that could change EVERYTHING!

Strength is purpose. Purpose is principle. Trump is not strong. Trump is weak.

He is going to take care of terrorism and immigration.

No he's not. His position on terrorism will change, just as his immigration stance has become touch-back amnesty.

If nothing else, that is the two most important thing that is facing our demise.

Totally disagree, The problem is government, and the enemy within: Liberalism, as always. Without liberalism, there would be no terror problem or immigration problem, because American Conservatism and the rule of law would allow neither.

I'm done. I've got a crappy freezer pizza in the oven, and then I'm heading for the crib.

Take care.
