Presidential candidate Donald Trump told ABC's George Stephanopoulos that he'll consider filing a lawsuit against Ted Cruz regarding his U.S. citizenship. Trump made the comments after Stephanopoulos asked whether he'd sue.

Best summary I’ve seen. Thanks!
There is no need for us to correspond. Anybody with the handle "Nero Germanicus" is capable of doing their own homework.
Every time there is a contentious public issue, FR bifurcates. A person can’t get to the truth by reading FR, this place is schizo, insane, irrational. Dig to original source material, and viola, issue resolves one way or the other. But guess what, FR is still nuts. That’s just the way it is, and has always been.
How has SCOTUS been damaged by Cruz’ candidacy?
Standing is not what you think it is...
I think Cruz had an excellent week last week and Trump had a very bad one. Trump was even booed at one of his huge rallies when he started in on Cruz.
People don’t like that. It is hurting him.
That's not going to happen. Trump's birther strategy may hurt Cruz's campaign but Trump's slimy campaign is making more enemies than friends. Maybe Trump can win the presidency without much conservative support, but I doubt it. He has lost any chance of getting the votes of anybody in my household. Maybe his many liberal friends will put him over the top,
Re: “For the 1000th time, a natural born citizen means a citizen from birth”
Since when?
Sorry, Trump will not file suit nor does he want anyone to file suit.
He wants to be able to push this issue ... it’s about the only one he has.
I agree. It must be love. And it’s hard to give up a loved one. I guess it’s why some women cling to abusive husbands.
Trump hit the ground running, entrancing us with his slashing through the PC crowd, saying what we’d been longing to hear, and because of his celebrity status, every word being reported by the press.
But he’s not wearing well. There is a better candidate out there and he’s not PC either.
There’s a lot of denial going on in the Trump bunch ... don’t know how long they can keep it up but ...
A half truth is still a lie.
I supported Cruz in the beginning so believe me, I have vetted Trump. I did not switch lightly.
In fact, I still supported and donated to Cruz hoping he would be the VP.
After the constant Trump bashing here at FR and being called everything from a Nazi supporter to chimpanzee I decided to take a closer look at Cruz. It became evident that his supporters, including me, had not really vetted him.
I came to the conclusion that I could no longer support him.
His votes for TPA, the Corker bill, his refusal to say the word deport (saying we would have a “conversation” about it after the election), and his weasily, lawyer-speak finally sank in. If you notice, he does not answer a question directly. Instead he attacks the source of the question.
Anyway, my choice is to support someone I know is not perfect but is honest about it over someone who tries to pass himself off as the perfect conservative but who’s votes don’t match.
I have read Trump’s books, watched every speech I could, read all of the articles good and bad, and everyone’s opinion of him.
I came to the conclusion that, while he is not the perfect conservative, neither is he an ideologue. He simply loves this country the way I do.
He is experienced at business, he is a leader, and in all of my reading I have found NO ONE who knows him that speaks ill of him.
I will take open-book Trump, warts and all, over any lawyer promising to be something he has not proven himself to be.
I would respect Trump more if he were to sue than what he’s doing now. He’s hiding behind others with his accusations. If there are issues to be addressed, then raise them personally without hedging. The “attorneys have told me...” disclaimer with the NBC issue and “I’ve been told it is a serious issue...” disclaimer with the FEC issue are cowardly, IMO.
Right ... it’s everything you say here, but I’m enjoying it.
Since British common law early 18th century. The founding fathers were all aware of it, that’s why the Constitution says naturally born, not native born.
Okay, but be prepared for lots of warts. Back when I was for Trump, I remember defending him from what I thought was a ridiculous charge that he might be prone to Alzheimer’s ... his father had it.
I said that he was young at 69 and that even if he got it later, he could be a good president for 8 years.
But reading those tweets he put out...I got a little queasy about his mindset.
Not sayin’... just sayin’
Two things stand out from this. First of all, it shows Trump was totally checked out from national affairs during the 70s and 80s. Secondly, it is revealing that the press did not eviscerate Trump for this. If any other Republican candidate had given such a stupid answer, the press would have kept it on the front page for weeks. But Trump got a free pass. Instead, the front page is reserved for Cruz and his accurate comments on New York values (as told by Donald Trump). One would think that the press actually wants Trump to be the GOP nominee.
This is the second time I have caught you pimping the Alzheimer’s scare about Donald Trump. I’m a little worried about you have Alzheimers. :-)
That's because it is up to the States. People don't elect Presidents. States do. So it is up to each State to decide which candidates are allowed on the state ballot. If a State denies Cruz's place on the ballot, Cruz sues that State.
Well, prove that ... you need to do so if you make accusations.
I plainly said that I responded to other posters about the Alzheimer’s thing and that I ridiculed it.
You have caught nothing except a certain form of worship that makes you irrational.
I don’t like this kind of lie being said about me.
I will not put up with it. I will get out my marbles. I will tweet twenty deranged tweets.
You will be sorry.
