Trump Hits Cruz on Loans, Citizenship: ‘Did He Borrow Unreported Loans From Canadian Banks?’
The Blaze ^ | 1/16/2016 | Kaitlyn Schallhorn

Even as GOP presidential contender Ted Cruz faces scrutiny over failing to disclose certain loans used in a previous Senate race, Donald Trump did not miss an opportunity to bring the Texas senator's Canadian birth into the mix.

As the New York Times reported, not only did Cruz fail to disclose a Goldman Sachs loan used for his 2012 Senate campaign, he also apparently failed to disclose a loan from Citibank for the same race. In a series of tweets Saturday morning, Trump, the Republican presidential frontrunner, eviscerated his fellow candidate and raised more questions regarding his citizenship.

"Based on the fact that Ted Cruz was born in Canada and is therefore a 'natural born Canadian,' did he borrow unreported loans from [Canadian] banks," Trump tweeted.

Since Cruz has crept closer to Trump in polls, the business mogul has repeatedly raised questions over Cruz's eligibility to hold the office of president as he was born in Canada to an American mother and a Cuban father.

"Ted Cruz said he 'didn't know' that he was a Canadian Citizen. He also FORGOT to file his Goldman Sachs Million $ loan papers. Not believable," Trump said in another tweet Saturday morning.

"Oh no, just reported that Ted Cruz didn't report another loan, this one from Citi. Wow, no wonder banks do so well in the U.S. Senate," Trump continued.

Trump also continued to criticized Cruz for comments he's made about "New York values" on the campaign trail and during Fox Business' Republican presidential debate Thursday.

"The Ted Cruz wiseguy apology to the people of New York is a disgrace. Remember, his wife's employer, and his lender, is located there!" Trump tweeted Saturday.

Cruz's wife, Heidi, announced last year that she was taking an unpaid leave of absence from Goldman Sachs...

Sorry to hear that. Cruzers usually do cower away when they are proved wrong. But I never thought you would.

Have a great night.......talk with you on another thread sometime.

He has such a childish temperment. I do not think i have ever seen a candidate or a sucessful businessman spew such immature accusations.

What next? Cruz sleeps in long johns. Cruz wears a wig. Oh wait, maybe he shouldn’t bring that one up.

The trumpettes have invaded FR.

I know most of us expect the politician to lie like Cruz did filling out his paperwork..

He disclosed it on his Senate disclosure requirement and failed to report it on this other FEC requirement. Hmm, that doesn't sound like he was on purpose being deceptive to me. And you prefer the Donald who doesn't pay back his loans - OK it was legal bankruptcy of a corporation set up.

Trump’s mother was a citizen when Trump was born. There is no constitutional question regarding Trump’s constitutional eligibility... Questions on IF he will govern IF elected Constitutionally sure. But it was NOT an answer to Cruz’s own standing.

I am exhausted by the claim of some of keeping in tact the Constitution that when followed protects ‘we the people’. Sure not interested in tearing it up further.

It is pretty sad that people are willing to sell themselves out because some man can sell himself as a grand Constitutional Scholar.... Mass deception abounds.

Maybe not. This is not the same forum I signed onto 15 years ago.

It is sad that we have come to this.

“During the remainder of 2012, the Cruz campaign repaid Mr. Cruz for about half of the money he lent. His Senate disclosures show that he and his wife paid off the Citibank loan that same year. As for the Goldman Sachs loan, it remains outstanding, though the balance”

I don't hate Cruz and we gave him hundreds of dollars when he first announced.

If you think Trump is not ‘fighting fairly,’ then wait until the Clintons go after him. Who do you think will get the most support from the media when that time comes, Cruz or Clinton?

Cruz does not attract the GOPe, any Dems, and only some independents. Trump has polling he can attract 20% of “Reagan Democrats” and has mobilized many who haven't voted in years. On top of this, he has an incredibly large lead among all Republicans.

Cruz is definitely more demonstrably conservative, but Trump is definitely more willing to bash key liberal/GOPe with a hammer Cruz can't wield. Trump is not afraid to take it to the Clintons and club them senseless. Cruz just won't have the same effect.

Trump is late to the conservative-leaning game, but he has put his name and credibility on the line during this past year.

I do believe we will be bothered by some things Trump would encourage as president, but we will have some things moved forward we haven't seen credible action on in many decades.

My wife and I now believe Trump is the best choice for the most conservative person to win in the general. Sad, but true. All the others won't make it or won't stand for anything once they do get in office.

I will support either. Period.

I agree. This is just heat of the battle stuff for both Cruz and Trump. It's a little hard to watch, but at some point, it had to come down to this.

Cruz needs Iowa to move on as the No. 1 challenger to Trump. Trump wants to win Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina so that he becomes the presumptive nominee going into Super Tuesday.

The infighting here has gotten a little too much. Either Trump or Cruz is superior to any GOP-e RINO and way better than the criminal and the socialist on the other side of the aisle.

I was not expecting to see the Cruz I saw in the last debate. I up until I saw for myself, realized, he knows he is NOT constitutionally eligible. Else he would not have needed to muddy the eligibility waters. It was a shock!!!!

Cruz has a solid record of being a politician. He says he has a record of being a solid conservative - what is it?

Cruz has a very long record of being a conservative. He supported TARP, stimulus 1, stimulus 2, bailouts, the Kelo decision, abortion, gun control, nationalized healthcare, nationalized banks, he gave large donations to the Clintons, Pelosi, Reid, Schumer...

Oh wait, that wasn’t Cruz. Who was that again? That’s right. The very conservative Donald Trump.

While Trump was being an extreme left Democrat, what was Cruz doing? Winning landmark cases protecting the Constitution and our God given rights of religious freedom and to keep and bear arms. He also preserved state’s rights and US sovereignty.

Who is the conservative again? What has Trump done for America again?

I am beginning to think that Trump has decided that he can win this election without Cruz supporters. Perhaps he should have had a chat with Romney.

Trump/de Blasio - 2016............ It’s about NYC Values, STUPID.

Just so you know, I don’t hate Ted Cruz. He’d still be my 2nd choice to be honest except I don’t think we’ll get a 2nd chance if they take out Trump.

Like they said in the Hunger Games, “Remember who the real enemy is”

It’s the establishment, the Democrats, GOPe, and media.

So this is all over his senate campaign? His first campaign that was virtually unfunded except for this in the beginning? So, how many millions does donnie owe? Does he pay back loans?

I guess next all you trumpers are going to find out he borrowed money to buy a house? Or was it a car?

There’s a difference between fearing someone and immensely disliking them - in this case - it’s the latter.

What has Trump done for America again?

He's running for President. And he sure in hell didn't need to put up with the sultans of sham in D.C. who've already done quite enough thank you.
