Krauthammer: Cruz walked into Trump's trap
(Excerpt) Read more at msn.com ...
I think you’re right. Over the last year, I’ve felt I can trust him less and less. Honestly, I feel kind of silly having once supported him at this point.
Yes indeed there are and have been some good and solid folks in NY. But the majority is what elected a carpet bagger for Senator and a communist for mayor. How people reacted to 9/11 as a human response was splendid. While the event was much more of a shock and got world wide attention, I don't think it any different than people sand bagging flooding rivers or cleaning up after tornadoes.
Like Cruz said, "people know what NY values are". And we do, just like we know what SF values and Idaho panhandle values are. Trump's response was just as valid. But, they are talking apples and oranges.
This is the truest statement I've seen since the debate.
CA would be so much better off if the majority votes were allowed stand without the court interfering!
The NYC mayor TheCommio hates conservatives and told them to stay away. This is story about the vanity and fragile egos of the Elite in the NE Establishment getting there ego's stroked.
That is my thought as well. The establishment and the media are lined up firmly against both of them and they cannot resist reporting on any conflict between the two so they are milking it for all it's worth. It is free publicity and the discussion helps to allay peoples’ reservations about both candidates. Trump has been portrayed as a loose cannon and Cruz has been portrayed as a nasty extremist. Cruz has been able to play the victim card and Trump has been able to look more presidential while he has honed his message.
The other day I sold one of our cars. The car had been well maintained and was in great condition but it was nine years old and had 123,600 miles on it. I had it priced very low compared to what was available from the dealers. The first guy that came admitted that he does no automobile maintenance himself but he literally picked the car to pieces. He ran his finger across the bottom of the oil pan and said that the grime that it picked up indicated to him that there had was an oil leak somewhere. Then he examined the automatic transmission fluid and claimed he could see microscopic pieces of metal floating around in it. In reality there was no oil leak and the transmission oil was not burned and had no characteristics that indicated any problems at all.
He actually was a sincere person but I found him to be annoying, but his nitpicking caused me to spend an extra couple hours detailing the engine compartment and under the car. The next guy that came along was actually equally fussy but much more knowledgeable. I have sold a lot of our used cars over the years and have never run into two people in a row who were so picky. The second guy bought the car. From some of what the second guy said I realized that if the first guy hadn't come by and caused me to do a little more detailing I never would have sold the car to the second guy.
Cruz's biggest challenge is that he needs to come across more like-able. We are a country made up of people who instinctively come to the aid of those we perceive are being picked on. The questions of his eligibility which are a little like the grime that was on my car's oil pan need to be addressed but they are also helping him look like he is being picked on and so more sympathetic.
Trump needs to appear more presidential and less like a stereotypical obnoxious liberal New Yorker so the softball Cruz tossed him allowed him to do both. It was theater and the supposed “conflict” between the two sucked much of the oxygen away from the other candidates. I don't know if the two camps are working together but it worked out as if the were.
You’re so right - the entire country, not just CA, would be totally different today if it had been allowed to stand.
The point of what DO posted, and I linked to, is that Cruz didn’t support 187.
no trump fell into his own trap when he OPENED his yap!
here let me help...
this from the same interview
â¦I am pro-choice in every respect as far as it goes, but I just hate it. DJT
NOW JUST what sort of GENIUS makes self conflicting statements like that??
bring the tweets donnie...bring the tweets
I would be interested in hearing what you saw in that video that disturbed you.
It didn’t bother you to hear a real estate investor address a real estate industry with absolutely no real estate building in a place like New York City?
Do you have any idea how many people that indicates are unemployed, and how the ripple effect of cash flow from building, salaries, the ripple effect purchases of all those people and suppliers would mean?
I’m not sure what you saw there that was wrong?
Trump has set the pace in this election season.
Curz benefits from it in a way, because Trump has addressed important issues and allowed Cruz to fallow along in his wake.
Cruzers will say that at times Trump addressed thing second. That may be true. The thing is, nobody heard it when Ted said it. When Trump said it they did. Then when Ted said it again, it didn’t meet as much resistance.
That was a good thing for Ted.
This dynamic is how I see it across the board. Without Trump in there, Ted would not have gotten the acceptance he has obtained.
IMO < Trump is so far ahead of the pack, folks don’t realize his value to the Conservative cause. He makes it look easy, and folks think, you know he stole X’s thunder.
No, Trump brought the thunder. Without him there would have been none.
People are obsessed with bringing down the man that brought the thunder. He’s not done yet. He’s going to win and bring the thunder for four or eight years.
Thank goodness someone finally is, from our side of the isle.
Good point. In the repository are many articles that point out Trumps softer side and history. By being a public figure he is fully vetted. To the point that i completely through out any thing that appears tabloid.
There isn’t as much material on Cruz and that actually is a problem for him. The earlier he addresses the issues the sooner he gets it behind him.
Presidents don’t choose their nominees by themselves.
Trump will have a good team around him. He will do better than you think.
Do you think everyone in Manhattan disagrees with our growing national debt?
Do you think everyone in Manhattan thinks we need to rebuild our military?
Do you think everyone in Manhattan thinks we should repeal Obamacare?
Do you think everyone in Manhattan thinks we should treat our Veterans better?
Do you think everyone in Manhattan thinks the Department of Education is out of control?
Think about it.
Which is a total puzzle to me!
Well that explains a lot. So you were against Reagan’s tax reform of 1986. Trump is calling it stupid that top rates were reduced from 50% to 28% and that “incentives” AKA tax shelters were removed from the tax code. Trump hugely benefited from the tax code before the reform because the tax code was funneling money into big developers as the only alternative to paying the top rate. Regarding the stand still in NY there was a stand still all over the place in commercial real estate because it had been over built. Building were built as tax shelters. Actually using them was secondary.
Yet you think that’s just fine economic policy. I see why you support Trump now. It has nothing to do with being conservative.
I also love the part about the interest deduction on home mortgages being an incentive for debt... Never mind that before Reagan’s tax reforms interest on cars, credit cards, whatever was deductible...
Now I see why we disagree so often. My mistake.
marker bump
These two are highly intelligent, politically sophisticated in their own ways-Trump needs to be politically astute in pursuing his business ventures and Cruz in being a very good Constitutional lawyer and senator. Either, and both, can and will dismantle Hildebeast or Comrade Bernie in any debates. If I were the Dems, I’d be scared.
Do we really want someone who is appealing across party lines at this point? Typically we call those people RINOs
Trump is the lesser of two evils to the GOPE. That means Cruz is the guy we should vote for, if we truly want the GOPE out.
