The battle between Texas Sen. Ted Cruz and Donald Trump over âNew York valuesâ turned into all-out war Friday when leading New York Democrats and Republicans blasted Cruz and the candidate issued a sneering âapologyâ ratcheting up his attacks on the Big Apple.
âYouâre right. Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton and Andrew Cuomo and Bill de Blasioâ have asked him to apologize, Cruz told reporters.
âI apologize to the millions of New Yorkers whoâve been let down by liberal politicians,â he needled.

Ref:”I donât follow why he would apologize for this....”
From the article: “I apologize to the millions of New Yorkers who’ve been let down by liberal politicians,... to those “denied jobs because Governor Cuomo won’t allow fracking....to “African-American children who Mayor de Blasio tried to throw out of their charter schools that were providing a pipeline to the American Dream.... New York law enforcement and first responders deserve an apology because de Blasio stands with looters and criminals...”
this is the gift that keeps on giving for Cruz. This will be in the news with him being opposed by De Blasio, Cuomo, Bloomberg.. and Trump.
Yes, Austin and Houston are morally polluted by transplants from NY, CA and other Leftist places. We are sorry that we have carpetbagger companies that come in to take advantage of our low taxes and bring their rotten politics along.
Knock knock?
You mean to tell me that what you know of the world, is limited to the spin of the headlines?
He turned what was meant to be a humble pie moment into a well-slung insult on liberal leadership. Above the belt, a righteous blow. Not some low crap like, "But you were born in Canada!" And outright lies about changing position on ethanol when Cruz has steadily held the same position for years. Trump fibbed to his audience in order to "win" people to his side.
Don't look now, but Trump lies. A guy who has to lie to win is a loser. Even when he wins.
But that’s not what he said the other night in front of a nationwide audience.
I’m just sayin...
But he didn't and now he can milk the free air time as he continues to speak his message to Iowa.
Brilliant? We will find out soon.
"I apologize to the millions of New Yorkers who've been let down by liberal politicians, he needled."
"Then he blasted top New York Democrats by apologizing to those denied jobs because Governor Cuomo wont allow fracking."
"He apologized to African-American children who Mayor de Blasio tried to throw out of their charter schools that were providing a pipeline to the American Dream."
"And in a final dig at the mayor, Cruz said New York law enforcement and first responders deserve an apology because de Blasio stands with looters and criminals."
Last time I checked Cruz was still saying he proposed amendments to the (Gang of 8) bill solely so he could kill it.
One of those tenets was changing the yearly quota of H1-B visas to 500% of what it had been. Strange thing is, he was still hawking that two years later.
Seems like a bit of a lie to me.
We made a mistake ever letting any lib scum within our borders. Should have burned the bastards out when they first showed their faces. It’s a notion I still haven’t entirely ruled out.
Yes, he tried to turn it into something else. An old liberal trick: If you can’t make any headway, change the subject.
I wonder what the name of that debate trick is.
Is Chuck Schumer a Senator in Texas? Hillary Clinton? Do you go to jail for having a magazine in Texas that holds 20 rounds? Are you taxed out of existence so the Great Society can continue to destroy your home? Do the weirdos with penises get to pee in the same bathroom as your 10 year old daughter?
The point is he did not apologize for what HE said. When he spoke about New York values in the debate, he explained what those values are - he said, gay marriage, abortion, fracking, etc. It was Trump who tried to change it to 9/11.
Just curious, do you know what those amendments were and the effect they would have on voting in the Senate?
Or, are you like so many of the Trump supporters that latch on to any anti Cruz message. Then, on this site, blast out anything against Cruz loudly and often?
I think I’m just pining for the days when conservatism meant something on this site.
Actually Houston is quite liberal. First elected a lesbian and then elected a complete leftwing nut black guy.
Austin is super lefty as well.
Ever been to the state?
Yes I do know what those amendments were.
One, double the amounts of normal yearly immigration
Two, increase from 65 thousand to 325 thousand the number of H1-B visas each year.
He was willing to vote for this. At least that’s what he said when he addressed the committee.
Note, his amendments didn’t pass, and the bill didn’t pass.
He was about to double the number of legal immigrants and he didn’t need to do anything since the bill wasn’t going to pass.
Then two years later, he was still wanting to increase the H1-B visas by the same amount.
I lived in Texas for about three years while stationed at Hood a couple of times. I grew up in Queens, NYC and now live in Ct. I am very well traveled having spent years outside the states in both nice places and shit places. I know what wealth is and I know what truly poor is. I know what leftism has wrought and I know what freedom brings. So I would say I know both well enough to know that somebody comparing New York to Texas and coming to the conclusion that the values are the same is nuts.
Check out this 1999 video where Trump defends abortion and gay rights.
Interesting how he has changed for the good in such a short time.

Wasn’t Cruz a Canadian back in 1999?
Or was that last week?
According to Rep Pete King, Cruz looks the other way about gay marriage for donations. So what REALLY are Cruz’z values? He’s not as conservative as he wants people to believe.
