Lay off New York, Ted Cruz
Hot Air ^ | 1/15/2016 | Mike Lupica

Posted on 01/15/2016 5:17:47 PM PST by BlackFemaleArmyColonel

The next time Cruz shows up here he should tear himself away from his friends at Goldman Sachs and make a side trip to the Bronx and explain himself there on New York values; or to the Lower East Side, or Williamsburg, Brooklyn, or Jamaica, Queens, or 125th St. in Harlem. He should go talk to people in the Rockaways or Staten Island, the hardened survivors who bound together after Hurricane Sandy, about New York values. Or finally he should go all the way downtown, and back to September 2001.

Here is what New York values are: New York values are a young guy, a paralegal, literally giving somebody he doesn't know the shirt off his back on a subway because winter has finally come to the city and brought freezing temperatures with it. New York values are the New York taxi driver who traveled three boroughs across four days to find the guy who had left $1,400 in his cab, so he could return the money to him. You know what that really was? It was the real life of a city that Ted Cruz knows nothing about. He is simply another tourist here, one constantly on the make.

The best of this city is the best of this country, and always has been. When it was hit in a way that no American city had ever been hit, it came together and rose up together in a moment as thrilling as any America had ever seen.

Ted has had this in his pocket since day 1.

Brilliantly played.

I will say this though. I think the Dem candidates are actually very weak this election, and I pray we elect a very and actual conservative candidate. But If Trump should win our nomination, even though I will be sad we wasted a good opportunity as a country - I WILL wholeheartedly vote for Trump. But I sure hope we elect a real conservative like Mr. Cruz.

Would you do me a favor and change your name. Every time I see you post a high school classmate with same name comes to mind
Last time I heard from her she was a stripper and whatever out west. She learned her values right here in Indiana from her granny who sold her as a prostitute at age 14. Granny didn’t know any better she was from Kentucjy.

Anyway Everytime I see your name it brings a smile to my face

A liberal cesspool, yes!

And Cruz delivered a perfect "apology" for his remarks:

---

I apologize to the hard working men and women of the state of New York who've been denied jobs because Gov. Cuomo won't allow fracking," Cruz continued. "I apologize to all the pro-life and pro-marriage and pro-Second Amendment New Yorkers who were told by Gov. Cuomo that they have no place in New York because that's not who New Yorkers are. I apologize to all of the small businesses who've been driven out of New York City by crushing taxes and regulations.....

....I apologize to all of the African-American children who Mayor de Blasio tried to throw out of their charter schools instead of providing a lifeline of the American dream. And I apologize to all the cops and the firefighters and 9/11 heroes who had no choice but to stand and turn their backs on Mayor de Blasio because Mayor de Blasio over and over again stands with the looters and criminals rather than the brave men and women of blue.....

.... "Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton and Andrew Cuomo and Bill de Blasio have all demanded an apology and I am happy to apologize. I apologize to the millions of New Yorkers who have been let down by liberal politicians in that state," Cruz told reporters as he left the University of South Carolina.

Sen. Cruz, please don't insult* others. That's Trump's shtick.

According to the report, the speech was rife with Trump's usual array of insults, saying he understood the Islamic State group better "than the generals do," calling the only woman in the GOP race "Carly whatever-the-hell-her-name-is," saying Florida Sen. Marco Rubio is "weak like a baby," calling journalists "scum" and "garbage" and comparing Carson to a child molester. Mocking Carson's claim that he had tried to stab a family member but had been foiled by a fortuitous belt buckle, Trump played with his own belt buckle (launching a memorable gif) and invited anyone in the audience with a knife to come stab him. "How stupid are the people of Iowa?" he asked. "How stupid are the people of the country to believe this crap?"

*Isn't it interesting that calling NYC liberal is considered an insult? I thought progressives were proud of their liberalism. You folks from NYC keep voting for far left candidates, so why take offense at Cruz' accurate assessment of you? Sheesh. You just can't win with lefties.

I’m a Trump supporter. I was born and raised in nyc.

That’s my context. The idea that Cruz’s comment will cost him many votes that he would have otherwise had isn’t meaningful. It’s just wrong.

Speaking of values......

On Thursday, Goldman Sachs agreed on a deal with the US government to pay a $5 billion fine for bogus marketing schemes on home mortgages during the financial crisis seven years ago.

Whoops!

Actually regular folks would take Ted's comments on New York City as a personal insult. Not to think so would make one obtuse or going out on a limb here--a Ted Cruz partisan hack.

If I were Ted, I'd keep my mouth shut about NYC since his wife's employer, the ever popular Goldman Sachs stuffed Ted's pockets with a million dollars of campaign donations assuring the Ted will remain sympathetic to Wall Street's looting of America. Now that is a disgrace.
