Ted Cruz: undocumented Canadian candidate? Andrew Cuomo didn't quite go quite that far, but the New York governor surely took a birther shot at Cruz during his appearance on today's Morning Joe.
Invited on to comment on Cruz's claim that Donald Trump represents "New York values," New York Governor Cuomo said: "You think the sign says only people from Canada that happen to come from Spanish-Irish descent? We said everyone is welcome."

I live in New York City and I am not pissed off. However I was really pissed off when the very same Cuomo turned round and said conservatives are not welcome in New York.

I was of the exact same thinking as you until Trump went above and beyond what is acceptable in my world.
He has just completely trashed Cruz. I am waiting/hoping for Sarah Palin to stand up and have Cruz back.
Trump suggesting Cruz was disrespecting 911 is totally out of bounds, off the charts viscous not to mention a outright lie.
I’m from NY, lived in the city and upstate now and we all know what NY values are. And they suck. Some of us are just stuck here for now.
Why was it dumb?
Not necessarily.
1. The NY media was never going to be kind to Ted Cruz. (So no harm there)
2. Cruz spoke the truth. Just as the hypocrite Trump had acknowledged in his 1999 interview about how pro-choice he is NY values are different from Iowa values.
3. Trump looks like a whiner. My favorite part of Trump's whining was in an interview after the debate where he says elections can't be won by insulting people. See his remarks on Megyn Kelley, Carson, Cuban evangelicals, Carly's face, etc. Trump lost me as I question whether he can be trusted on immigration or any issue. Great showman but he's all hat and no cattle.
4. Cruz's national strategy does not involve New York. Obviously as Cruz's explanation/faux apology suggests: The liberals of New York have a different outlook on abortion, guns, gay marriage, socialist economic policy, etc. In other words it is the epicenter of liberalism. Cruz was right everybody (with intelligence) knows the difference between NY values and the values of flyover country they regularly insult through their media control.
WELL PLAYED CRUZ.
Trump was NOT born of two AMERICAN parents either!!!!
Trump may not be eligible either. Trump is an anchor baby since his mother was a BRITISH citizen until 4 years AFTER Trump was born and only his dad was an American, which means that Trump is and has been eligible for dual British citizen. British law at the time conferred citizenship based on the mother’s citizenship. Trump may not have ever claimed British citizenship, but has he ever renounced it?
Anchor babies are not governed in the Constitution and are only allowed to exist via a court decision, but that does not mean they are eligible for office under original Constitutional theories.

Don't you understand, when New Yorkers get caught making Deliverance and incest jokes about Southerners, it's screw you if you can't take a joke? If non-New Yorkers criticize New York values, they're taking a shot at the first responders to 9/11. Trump's response is the very embodiment of New York values Cruz was talking about - an overweening arrogance that looks down upon the sibling lovers in flyover country. New York attitudes about flyover country rubes are unprintable. They think Deliverance was a documentary.
The state of New York is hemorrhaging people, businesses, and money, so be careful what you wish for, Cuomo. You’re not Detroit—yet. Give it 20 years.
Not real smart but a much bigger screw-up is Trump’s opponents saying that all the kooks and whackos have come out of the woodwork to his camp. If you’re a Republican and you’re looking to woo away voters from another Republican, how smart is it to go to the podium all over the country and repeatedly call them kooks and whackos?
The stupidest political strategists ever must be at the helm of these Repub campaigns. That’s as stupid as when the Dixie Chicks publicly called most of their fans dumb rednecks and that they want a smaller fan base with the cool people that “get it”. Be careful what you wish for!
Detroit is a mess but frankly I would rather live there than NY.
No soda nannies, self defense is legal and even encouraged, concealed and open carry are legal and encouraged, cost of living is considerably lower. The city government are corrupt democrats but the people are much more socially conservative.
Eh Cuomo, take off, you hoser! ;)
