Prayers for brave Marines. Too bad no one in DC cares.
Collision? Was one of the pilots a Muslim?
Are those the helicopters called ‘Sea Stallions’?
Prayinâ¦especially for my friend’s daughters (need to find out where they are)
Not good. Tells me there was a mid air. Semper Fidelis.
two is a collision
or pilot error, I was in one over Korea in 81, we almost had a blade strike. I broke up a fight between officers later, didnt know that was the reason, the pilot who almost flew MY helicopter I was in into the other...I stopped them from kicking his butt
I should have stood firewatch, but I didnt know why then
who did you know at Desert One??
USMC 1977-1981 MOS 7242 HMM-165 USS Okinawa 1980 :)
Oh no. Praying for any survivors to be rescued.
Were you in HMH-461? That one was "weather related", but really the fault of the HAC in the lead bird. (not wanting to 'speak ill of the dead', but that's the truth about the accident.)
Too many air accidents recently.
These two were probably the newer CH-53E models, the "Super Stallion". Sikorsky currently is testing the CH-53K, the "King Stallion"
Thanks!
Most likely from Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 463 (HMH-463) helicopter squadron consisting of CH-53E Super Stallion transport helicopters. The squadron, also known as “Pegasus”, is based at Marine Corps Air Station Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii and falls under the command of Marine Aircraft Group 24 (MAG-24) and the 1st Marine Aircraft Wing (1st MAW).
