Donald Trump Shuts Down Ted Cruz’s Criticism Of His ‘New York Values’ [VIDEO]

Cruz "insulted a lot of people," Trump said. "I've had more calls on that statement that Ted made. New York is a great place, it's got great people, it's got loving people, wonderful people. When the World Trade Center came down, I saw something that no place on Earth could have handled more beautifully, more humanely than New York."

"[T]wo one hundred and ten story buildings come crashing down. I saw them come down. Thousands of people killed, and the clean up started the next day and it was the most horrific cleanup in the history of doing this and in construction," Trump said.

"I was down there. And I've never seen anything like it. And the people in New York fought and fought and fought and we saw more death and even the smell of death, nobody understood it. And it was with us for months, the smell, the air. And we rebuilt downtown Manhattan and everybody in the world watched and everybody in the world loved New York and loved New Yorkers. And I have to tell you that was a really insulting statement that Ted made."

Cruz did not offer a response to Trump.

Oh, let’s bring on some 9/11 tears in support for New Yorkers who normally go around giving everyone the finger and demanding nanny statism for the masses. Coming together after 9/11 was an event, not the norm. New York values - only idiot liberals don’t understand what that means. Trump was being cheap and shallow in that response, and Cruz should’ve nailed him on it. It’s not like New Yorkers are going to vote for either one of these guys anyway. There’s your values for you, in your face.

I grieved with you and still do but I love my city and under it all New York like London remains one of the best cities in the world. Both are under assault from destructive forces but will rise again.

“Trump was cheap and tacky to use 9-11 as a drama hook.”

So you’re the self-appointed arbiter of appropriateness on God’s Green Earth? And you’re probably one of those people who complain about Trump’s arrogance.

It sure is.

This is all fake, manufactured outrage.

Typical Trump fan tactic. Quick, don’t address the fact that you support a liberal liar-—pivot and start pushing Trump-as-messiah meme.

This country gets fixed if we get it back to its Constitutional roots-—that’s the only way. If conservatives have joined the left in becoming so enamored of celebrities that they think a bloviating, stupid reality show star is what we need, then God help us.

You might as well push that nonsense to someone who might be susceptible.

Let’s keep figuring out who’s not going to vote for us and spit in their faces. If we pick large enough groups to write off we can write off the whole Nation. Sounds like a plan.

I have to say that growing up in NY I was taught to judge each person on his/her own merits, to give everyone I met the benefit of the doubt to judge people by how they treated the least among them not the powerful.

I was taught better than to mock people for something like 911 and to attack grief from 3000+ deaths as crybaby tears. I guess its lucky I was exposed to NY values not yours.

So now in the age of Saint Trump, opinions are off limits, is that it? Observations about your hero are arrogant unless they're fawning?

I'll go beyond tacky. It was disgraceful for him to use 9-11 to try and score political points...but certainly characteristic of the man we know.

Are you nuts? How many of YOUR co-workers, family members, and good friends were burned, disintegrated, or jumped out of buildings that day? Some NYers lost multiple family members on 9/11. During your lifetime, did your Midwestern town have intact families at 8 a.m., and within six hours be left with many thousands of widows, widowers, and orphans?

9/11 did happen to all of America on one level, but very tangentially when compared to New Yorkers.

“Trump was better prepared than Ted expected... Look for Trump to move up in the polls in coming days.”

Yes. I think Trump’s polling numbers will increase even more after the debate. Trump doesn’t “prepare”. He shows up and speaks based on what he knows and what he’s done. His varied life experiences and successes have prepared him to debate with one-trick-pony government politicians.

Go Trump!

Its such a waste trying to be straight with you. We would need the second coming to get the country back to its Constitutional roots that way. Just simply impossible. Too many unaware, head blind people with no knowledge of history or cause and effect. We don’t live in a castle or fairy story. The world is a messy place with several hundred million stories running where each person is their own center. You have to work with what you have.

Obama won because he was able to inspire people who did no fact checking, had no idea what the reality behind his slogans would mean. I despise the process but would rather learn from it than remain a purist in a world that’s going mad. We need as a Nation to believe that America can be great again and that we can work to make it so. That means someone needs to stand up and get people on board. Play on emotions, get people energized make people believe that he takes their priorities seriously. I can see Trump as that man. If you can’t that’s what makes horse races.

I will not allow the negativity and crudeness of naysayers on this site to draw me into attacking and besmirching Cruz or any other candidate, critical thinking and questioning is one thing purely derogatory comments tar the speaker.

“Cruz made it clear he was talking about NYC.”

Please post the transcript of that verbiage. I don’t recall him distinguishing NYC from NY.

When did that happen? I still hate Megyn. I still malign her. The trollop will never redeem herself no matter what she does.

So cry me a river, Democratic-Republican, about "bigotry" the nation has against various regions and stereotypes. It ain't nothin' compared to the bigotry against Californians.

Well first of all, I'm not crying about anything. I didn't say that and I don't think I even implied it. I did however say, that this thread ( and several others ) have showed me something. That something is that the obvious and sensible contempt for liberal values in any city or state is actually being spelled out here in English as contempt for New Yorkers, and not even NYC or Manhattan or Albany, but New York period. Clearly a bunch of children, but also a lot of Cruz lemmings who should know better than to walk off a cliff.

As far as you and your diatribe, I imagine you're young and take everything personally. When I think of California values I don't think of SF or LA decadence. I think of easy living, surfing and Venice Beach and valley suburbs and desert towns. But I imagine everyone has their own view from where they have visited and vacationed. But I honestly don't use the "state" name ever when referring to "city" values. So your venting is aimed at the wrong person.

The USA is being redesigned into ... cities ... and leftover land to be kept vacant ... The socialists are doing this on purpose, have been since 1965, and it approximates feudal estates in class division and people control. So I know full well how to discuss these things, and "California values" would never occur to me as an insult. I guess Cruz is your guy hence your need to fight today seeing how he stepped into a sh!storm by a stupid choice of words, and if you really think about it you should be mad at him not me, because he used the equivalent of "California values" when mentioning "New York values". It was vague and non-specific. The interesting part is watching the meltdown here of his supporters flinging out ridiculous and even worse insults.

What is everybody gonna do if he caves in now?

Trump is a bad risk and I'm bigoted against bad risks.

Risk? The risk is running a candidate who is likely to do the same or worse than Dole or McCain or Romney. Hillary and the (D)ummies have a 250 electoral vote head start and need only 20 to win out of the twelve swing states. Absorb that fact before you do anything else.

Now let me ask you something. Where does your preferred candidate, whoever that might be, win in those twelve states? Can you even identify those states? If not, you are not paying attention to what may be the last relatively fair election you will ever see. It will not take much more naturalization of invaders to take 20 more votes off the table. And when they finally turn Texas the country is effectively Europe.

Risk? Risk is running a candidate that the people in those twelve states will not vote for. Do you hear them clamoring for a Constitutional Conservative and/or an Evangelical? Risk? Risk is running who we want on the Supreme Court as a candidate in an electorate who wants something else.

Risk is walking into a casino and putting the whole wad on black or red. But that is practically a 50/50 bet ( minus greens ) and our electoral situation is far far from it due to their headstart. Are you feeling lucky?

People here and all over the place are coming to terms with this. The luxury of picking a boutique candidate probably vanished after 1988. It is no longer 1988. The enemy is going for total victory here, elections which don't matter and are decided before the candidates even declare. They almost have their victory. The candidate this time had better win. The alternative is death for the USA. The Supreme Court appointments alone are critical, but another amnesty and further invasion is annihilation.

Wow, that's some serious hatred right there. I admit I've never been a special fan of Kelly, but damn. And for what? Because she crossed your boy?

But that's how Trumpsters roll, isn't it? Anyone who does that---send them to outer darkness forever!

But it's not a cult.
