New York Rep. Peter King had some sharp words for Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz on Thursday, in the wake of the Texas senator's attempt to criticize Donald Trump.
Cruz, who had been playing nice with Trump for much of the campaign, recently attempted to disparage the real estate mogul by accusing him of possessing "New York values." The attack came after Trump raised questions over the Canadian-born Cruz's ability to serve as president.
Trump "may shift in his new rallies to playing 'New York New York,' because you know Donald comes from New York and he embodies New York values," Cruz said Tuesday on "The Howie Carr Show" on Boston-based WRKO.
King, a Republican, had a pointed response for Cruz.
"Memo to Ted Cruz: New York Values are the heroes of 9/11; the cops who fight terror; and the people you ask for campaign donations. Go back under a rock," King said in a statement to CNN Thursday.
Trump has also cited 9/11 as an example of why "New York values" are something to be proud of, rather than a turn-off for voters.
"New York is an amazing place with amazing people," Trump said on Bloomberg's "With All Due Respect." "We took a big hit with the World Trade Center -- worst thing ever, worst attack ever in the United States, worse than Pearl Harbor because they attacked civilians, they attacked people having breakfast and frankly if you would've been there and if you would've lived through that like I did with New York people -- the way they handled that attack was one of the most incredible things that anybody has ever seen."

Not sure what that means. As in any other company, there are liberal and conservative employees in a firm.
The hypocrisy will be proven only if Cruz pushes for policies FAVORING Goldman Sachs to the detriment of the rest of the country.

Problem is he already did by campaigning for Obama’s TPA. Temporary insanity is the only defense of a principled conservative who enables Barack Obama by greasing the wheels for his secret trade deals.

The above is IFFY at best.
Cruz initially voted for Trade Promotion Authority (TPA), a bill that gives Obama fast-track trade authority.
When it came up for a vote in May 2015, he voted AGAINST the final passage in the Senate in June citing his disapproval with the “corruption” and “back room dealings” involved with the legislation.
For that reason, I wouldn't have any problem with a Trump/Cruz ticket.

Does the VP have any authority in Congress at all other than to cast a tie-breaking vote?
Other than that, the position does not seem to be doing anything other than to wait for the President to be incapacitated or dead.
I don't know all the powers of the President of the Senate.
My impression is he would be very hands-on.

He is not having a good week in the leftist media. It works for him with conservatives on a national level, especially if Trump implodes.
I am a small-town semi-rural kid myself, and when I moved to the "big city" (very big -- Los Angeles & county, some 8 million souls, not to mention another 8 million souls total in adjacent counties) and it was hit with the Northridge earthquake, I was humbled at how resourceful, smart, and innovative were all those city folks I'd been scorning and making fun-of all those decades. Meanwhile, the rest of America believed the horse manure that the MSM was dramatically foisting on them about how we So Cal folks were "devastated" and paralyzed, but the reality is that WE (I was one) working folks who had to go on earning a living in spite of the chaos, proceeded to do so barely skipping a beat, working around inconveniences caused by that quake. Not one smidgen of the MSM reported it, though, and I think a lot of us here were secretly amused and proud that while the rest of the world wrongly perceived a bunch of chickens running around with their heads cut off, in truth the only ones doing that were the MSM reporters; we real folks were going about (and quickly) picking up the pieces and pressing on.
For that reason, I bet that NYC is in may ways much the same in its spirit -- I have learned the stupidity and foolishness of underestimating "city folk." Yes, for country-raised folks like me city folk are kinda dim and removed from reality in a lot of ways that make you go "Hmmm ..." but they are also wonderfully sensible and resourceful in a pinch, every bit as much as country folks, just in different forms.
Before you go off on how "anti-gun" Southern California is, think twice. I go shooting locally,, legal right down the line, with literally hundreds of So Cal "city folk" friends on a regular basis.
Extremely wealthy people, no matter where they are from, are not going to wallow in Christian American values of the middle and working classes. Many are totally foreign or hostile to the American middle and working classes. That is the moral of the story about elitist PAC spending and buying politicians.
Wealthy people can buy their way out of behaving badly so it is not automatically single parenthood in poverty, jail, life or death for them. Money and elitist status can be the balm needed for a lot of sins not available to the working and middle class. They often advocate for sin.
Except in the case of Trump, who had a beloved brother die of alcoholism and turn against his family. He passed on that knowledge to his own children knowing that money can’t buy one out of all messes. He probably had a lot of other politically incorrect rules, that he won’t mention. We know he’s not crazy about abortion or amoral humanist ethics of selling baby parts.
Cruz’s life is not covered in wealth and he’s conservative with his own family, as well. He does not advocate sin.
I’m from New York, adn I knew exactly what Ted Cruz meant.

The question for thinking people is this — What KIND of New Yorker is Cruz attacking and what kind of New Yorker is Trump defending?
Attacking New York values does not mean attacking CONSERVATIVE New York values. It’s attacking LIBERAL new York values, of which enough evidence shows is PREVALENT.
NYers may be mostly LIEbs but they don’t take no shit from anybody, some weird voiced Texan especially!-)
