For better or for worse, Ann Coulter was once considered one of the conservative movement's premiere storm troopers. She was wicked smart. She was tough as nails. And she seemed to actually enjoy being a woman in a growing age of naggy and dour feminism.
[...]
I miss that Ann. The one who still had the moral clarity to appear in worldview documentaries produced by the late Dr. D. James Kennedy. Unfortunately, it appears that Ann is long gone. She has been replaced with a sad caricature, which includes so many embarrassing meltdowns and contradictions it would require a whole separate column to chronicle them.
[...]
Nowadays Ann has had to metamorphose from provocateur to the punditry equivalent of "your mama" jokes with a side of bullying. For that's what happens to you when you start uttering complete nonsensical tripe like the following and call it a "hot take":
"It doesn't matter how liberal Donald Trump is as long as he's right on immigration."

LOL
I have to take a shower (no, seriously!) and I’m there.
I’m not talking about Trump. I’m talking about what happens if Coulter’s idiocy is enacted. You get America in name only.
In case you haven’t noticed, we get liberalism no matter who we elect, at least for the past 30+ years ... we have moved on from this reality to the reality that we are being replaced. The last threat to the continual onslaught of liberalism in government are conservatives, and we are being overwhelmed and replaced by wards-of-the-state that will have their hands out to Uncle Sugar for the rest of their and their multitudinous offspring’s lives ... Voting for a principled conservative is a great idea, if we get that choice, which we likely won’t. Voting for someone who will plug the gaping hole in the southern border is the only thing that can stem the tide and leave us with the option of having a conservative future.
“I’ve noticed her outrageousness correlates to the appearance of her latest book. Its all Kabuki and all about dollars “
Absolutely true. She has had some excellent observations and her work is well researched; but she foments controversy (including controversy generated by conflicts with some of her past assertions) for the sake of her book sales, there should be no doubt.
Sad to say that many on this forum agree with her.
In case you havent noticed, we are where we are because gutless liberal elect their own kind rather than stand on principle. And if you want to sacrifice everything BUT liberalism to stop illegals, guess what?
CR and Mark Levin are not impartial between liberalism and conservatism. They follow ideas, not people. It falls where it falls.
I can think of nobody I agree with 100%. But this attack on Coulter is nonsense. Here I agree with Coulter. Immigration will kill our future. Sharia law is totally incompatible with our way of life. Yet Obama is determined to bring more of them into the country, and anti-American politicians such a Nikki Haley support this.
I cant agree here. I respect spodefly and don’t see what he said was wrong.
In the interests of maintaining our friendship(s), I won’t get involved further.
So you claim to understand English and you actually think that Coulters statement was advocating for open liberalism?
Yes, the guy who gets my vote will be more of a complete package, biased rightward.
However, Coulter (for all of her hysterics, meltdowns, support of Mittens, etc.) is right on the immigration issue. Ignore the messenger and pay attention to the message: if we don't get a handle on immigration - SOON - then our country is lost. Immigration should benefit the receiving country, not burden it. Too many immigrants end up on public assistance (none should - they should get the boot if they do), too many are criminals (ditto on the boot), and too many REFUSE to assimilate. The latter seems to be a feature of Latinos (and I'm married to one, who became a citizen and DID assimilate, so I can criticize if I want to do so), but also a consequence of our government, media-industrial complex and education-industrial complex all telling immigrants NOT to assimilate.
Like it or not, Coulter is correct on immigration. Again, forget the messenger. Dems have planned this, and followed the plan, for over 50 years...and the tree that they planted is about to bear fruit for them like nothing ever seen before. If we don't stop it, in 10-15 years the Dems will never lose a national election again.
You might want to explain how her statement was anything but.
I’m not wasting more time than I need to un worthless article like this one.
She wrote a great piece today about Natural born citizenry.
I shouldn’t have to explain it, you are an American, you should have enough sense to understand sarcasm.
I have heard that excuse before. But it ain’t her first rodeo here and it ain’t sarcasm.
It doesn’t matter how liberal Donald Trump is as long as he’s right on immigration.”
Deace is a pretty good egg. I would ridicule many other pundits before I go after Deace.
You're damned right Coulter is being pragmatic -- she is trying to hold on to as wide a swath of her fan base that she can. If that means supporting functional amoral leftists like Mitt Romney, if that means supporting serial party-switcher and outright "Now-Ted-just-switched-his-views-on-ethanol" liar Donald Trump and suggesting Romney as his VP, so be it. She pragmatically wants to have her cake and eat it too.
As a "conservative," Ann Colter has become as phony as the candidates she supports. "Pragmatism" means putting desire ahead of righteousness.
Romney would have been a REPUBLICAN Obama, WORSE than Obama because he would be doing his amoral crap in the name of Republicans. Spodefly, OWN WHAT YOU VOTE FOR.
When you voted for Romney, here is a plain, pragmatic fact: you voted for turning the Republican party and America hard left.
Get it through your head. That is what you voted FOR, because if what you voted for had won, that is what would have happened.
Now you can BS yourself and "pragmatically" pretend that you didn't vote for Romney, you voted against Obama, but it is a way of lying to yourself for voting to turn the GOP and America hard left.
Dammit, spodefly, have the balls to own what you vote for, and have the maturity to accept the hard truth that voting "against" is pure 100 percent rationalization based on fiction.
So then all these years, the purpose of FR was all a lie. There’s nothing wrong with liberalism. Who knew?
It would be good to meet you in person someday, Mr. Lenhart! Perhaps at the TX shoot in Oct '16. Meeting people helps to really understand them better, and it forges strengthened friendships.
