Megyn Kelly asks Ted Cruz about Trump's New York Values.
Fox News ^ | January 13, 2016 | Youtube

Posted on 01/13/2016 8:09:12 AM PST by true believer forever

Skip to 4:40. Kelly asks Cruz about the push polls. She asks if his campaign had anything to do with them. He swivels, and then she reads from the Washington Examiner article about one of the questions in the push poll asking voters what they thought about Trump's liberal new york city values ... she then asks Cruz if that is why he made the statements throughout the day about Trump's values (notably on Howie Carr). Cruz keeps on the swivel and finally Kelly gives up.

She then asks him, "What are New York Values?"

Cruz replies: "The rest of the country knows what New York values are, and they aren't Iowa values and they aren't New Hampshire values."

My problem with Cruz is this: He talks smack about New York but takes money from New York gays. It’s the height of hypocrisy.

Two gay business men that support Israel. Cruz did not backtrack on his belief for traditional marriage. He does not hate gays. Mr. Reisner, asked about the possible dissonance between his gay activism and being at an event for Mr. Cruz, said he did not agree with the senator on social issues. Same-sex marriage, he said, “is done — it’s just going to happen.”

In a statement later, Catherine Frazier, a spokeswoman for Mr. Cruz, said the senator had “stated directly and unambiguously what everyone in the room already knew, that he opposes same-sex marriage and supports traditional marriage.” He made it clear where he stands and even afterwards he supported Kim Davis

“New Yorkers” just don’t reside in New York.

NYers have moved to other places like FLORIDA, the CAROLINAS, other states that have a major impact on elections.

Oh, fiddle.

Cruz is pointing out that Trump is historically on the record as a standard liberal New York businessman.

Trump has changed his tune, helpfully and recently. But his former positions are worthy of scrutiny.

Trump is a populist. Now that we are down to our favored two, it is proper for the conservative to point out the record of the populist. That’s merely fair.

Seems like the question never got answered.

This is right up there with Chuck Todd asking Cruz 3 or 4 time about deportation and the path to legalization:

TED CRUZ: "Well, my view is first, we secure the borders and solve the problem of illegal immigration. And then I think we can have a conversation about what to do about the people who remain here."

Cruz stated in Newton Iowa on 11/29/15 regarding his prior support for granting legal status, not citizenship, that: Let's demonstrate we can stop illegal immigration, we can protect our national security interests, we can protect our law enforcement interests.... Then once that's done, we can have a conversation at that point about whatever people remain here illegally."

A week earlier in Harlan, Iowa, when asked about taking the granting of legal status off the table Cruz stated: "We can have that conversation with the American people once we've secured the border."

^^^^^^^^^^^^^ That's going to be one heck of a conversation when Cruz finally gets around to it.

In a word, a far left lunatic like Deblasio represents New York values. That is just plain sickening. The guy makes me wanna throw up whenever I hear him speak. His values and the values of the south and the heartland and flyover country are like the difference between night and day.

So you have no issue with Cruz taking money from New York City gays, while bashing “New York City Values”

Did Megan ask Cruz about Canadian values?

No, but she was thoroughly fed up with him and at the end, wouldn't even let him talk. I have to be fair and point that out no matter how painful it was to watch her on the vid.

[Trump is a populist. Now that we are down to our favored two, it is proper for the conservative to point out the record of the populist. That’s merely fair.]

Do you even KNOW the definition of a “populist”??

POPULIST: noun
1.
a member or adherent of a political party seeking to represent the interests of ordinary people.

ORDINARY PEOPLE. So if I choose between a POPULIST like Trump, or an ELITIST like Cruz, I choose the one who represents my interests as an average American.

The blood feud continues. Megyn will be under the microscope at the next debate just as much as Trump is. Even more.

Actually, Megyn in her own way, was standing up for Trump and all New Yorkers. She seemed thoroughly disgusted with the way Cruz refused to answer the question.

Now's usually about the time I start to feel sorry for the victim.

Giving you the benefit of doubt, it looks like "they" gotcha, Ted.

"They" set you up and you took the bait...now what?

How does this play out for you? You got your shot, now where does the story, and your story, go from here?

One possible plot twist?

You and Trump could strictly follow the Constitution and flip this mess into something amazing, just like Trump can turn and flip junk property into something amazing.

Man, what a hero you'd be if you two could do that! Then, your ego really would have something to hold up high.

You'd best work it out soon, though, Ted.

Trump is well on the way to doing it without you...which will also mean TO you, given the way you and things have been set up.

Your call...

The whole "Populist" thing I think is more of an invention by the GOPe, since they want to be the ones called "conservatives." Trump is more genuinely conservative than Cruz or the GOPe, due to his opposition to the cult of "Free Trade" and unlimited immigration. Cruz was supporting doubling green cards and H1B visas, and still to this day doesn't really oppose TPP in principle, even though there are a dozen or more corporations already planning on moving manufacturing to Vietnam. Trump is the pro-American candidate, and Cruz is just this year's Huckabee or Santorum.

Until December, Cruz was still telling media outlets essentially that legalization was still on the table, a fact that Mark Levin and other Cruz surrogates have done their best to cover up.

Trump supporters are like 0bama supporters. Willfully ignorant of their candidate’s background and history, because he says things they like to hear.

Not to say that anybody could have identified 0bama’s true colors prior to 2008 with some minimal effort, but at least with Trump his background and history are more easily discovered: he was a liberal until recently it became “profitable” to not be one, at least on the exterior.

If I were Trump, I'd Tweet: The country knows what Canadian values are, and they aren't Iowa values and they aren’t New Hampshire values.

I think Trump should ask Cruz to define New York Values. I'd like to hear Cruz's answer to that.

Other than Cruz, what’s the alternative to Trump?

This is the hand we’ve been dealt.

Yep. Trump’s vetting the NBC issue. If Ted passes, then he could be the VP.

How does Ted pass the vetting on that issue?

No court is going to hear it and the only people charged with making that determination are the Electoral College and Congress.

Technically he is not a candidate for President, but he is running to get delegates to the Republican Convention and then delegates to the electoral college.

Maybe he can be vetted at the Republican convention. If the majority of delegates to the Republican Convention are convinced he is not an NBC then they can refuse to vote for him. OTOH if he wins the nomination then he has been vetted by the Republican Party as a whole.

The problem is that with Trump raising the issue, he has cast his own doubts on Cruz's eligibility so he would be a flaming hypocrite to pick him as his VP unless there had been a determination by the courts that he is eligible... AND THAT IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN..... EVER.

Populism is unconstrained by ideology. It can be conservative today, liberal tomorrow, and back again.

I prefer ideologically grounded conservatism because it works, it favors freedom, and I agree with it.

What about NY values, Ted?

Yes, I would really like to hear Cruz define what he considers to be New York values?
