Republican Party Uses State of the Union Response to Attack Donald Trump
Breitbart Big Government ^ | 01/12/2016 | Julia Hahn

A new CBS report ahead of President Obama's last State of the Union address details how the Republican response - delivered by South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley - will serve as a rebuttal to the policies of GOP frontrunner Donald Trump. The new report seems to underscore prior reporting from the Washington Post that "Rep. Paul Ryan is rapidly emerging as Republicans’ anti-Trump."

CBS writes: "The Republican response to the President Obama's State of the Union address Tuesday evening appears to rebut… some of the policies espoused by Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, according to excerpts released by House Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wisconsin."

According to Ryan's excerpts, it seems as though Haley will focus particularly on chastising Trump's call for curbing immigration:

"I am the proud daughter of Indian immigrants who reminded my brothers, my sister and me every day how blessed we were to live in this country. My story is really not much different from millions of other Americans. Immigrants have been coming to our shores for generations to live the dream that is America…Today, we live in a time of threats like few others in recent memory. During anxious times, it can be tempting to follow the siren call of the angriest voices. We must resist that temptation. No one who is willing to work hard, abide by our laws, and love our traditions should ever feel unwelcome in this country."

‘But how many is Cruz willing to deport? Last I heard it was only those arrested of other crimes.’

I doubt your claim is correct, but if you find confirmation, please let me know.

Cruz is operating from what he knows the laws currently are saying......Trump isn’t aware of the Immigration laws so just says what he can to make it under the wire of the question asked.....

He said in 2013 that we had to find a way for the “Dreamers” to remain because they had “won me over”...he also made other statements which simply tells us he doesn’t know what he can or cannot do...rather what his audience wants to hear.

That’s the thing with Trump...he’ talks but hasn’t a clue about the powers of the Government, laws, nor how they work or not.....so he punts.

It was on his website. I haven’t checked if his policy has changed but heard it has been modified to be more like Trump’s as far as deportations go.

Ted Cruz won’t rule out legalization for illegal immigrants
http://hotair.com/headlines/archives/2015/11/21/ted-cruz-wont-rule-out-legalization-for-illegal-immigrants/.

‘If we put in place a strong E-Verify system and deport criminal illegal aliens, the number of people here illegally will drop significantly, particularly if there’s not a continual flow of people coming in illegally,’ Cruz said.

‘At that point, once we’ve demonstrated that we can solve the problem, then we can have a conversation about what to do about whatever people remain illegally,’ Cruz added. When asked if that conversation included the potential for a pathway to legal status, he repeated, ‘We can have that conversation with the American people once we secure the border.’ [snipped off at that point ...]

Question:

Is it true that Cruz will not simply enforce existing laws and deport wholesale right off the bat? I keep hearing he would.

kabar and greetings puny humans are the heavy-duty opposition researchers reg. Cruz and immigration. Not me. I’ve taken Cruz largely ‘on faith’ reg. immigration prior to running into obnoxious Cruzies today.

Reporter asks Ted Cruz four times: ‘How do you define amnesty?’

THAT statement is what set me off of Cruz. Especially when he condescendingly said “The American people don’t want to have that conversation.” I sure as hell did and moved to Trump who was conversing all over the place about it ;)

I guess Cruz is still being ambiguous. For one capable of being so eloquent, that speaks volumes.

Hey Arthur, I’d say you’re an excellent researcher!

Oh Cruz can be eloquent and clear, but he is smart, too: When it comes to speaking about amnesty, Ted doesn't want to bite the globalist hands that feed him.
