Ted Cruz on Tuesday suggested attacks from Republican presidential rival Donald Trump are being promoted by allies of Democrat Hillary Clinton.
Trump has for two weeks repeated questions about Cruz's birthplace and whether he is eligible to be president.
Cruz responded by suggesting Democrats are "very eager" to support those questions in an effort to boost Trump toward winning the nomination.
"It's more than a little strange to see Donald relying on ... a liberal left-wing judicial activist Harvard law professor who is a huge Hillary supporter. It starts to make you think, gosh, why are Hillary's strongest supporters backing Donald Trump?" Cruz said in video broadcast by MSNBC.
"You know, the past couple of elections, we saw the Democrats thrilled that they got the nominee that they wanted to run against in the general election. And it seems that the Hillary folks are very eager to support Donald Trump and the attacks that are being tossed my direction," Cruz added.
Trump on Monday cited liberal law professor Laurence Tribe, who has called the issue of Cruz's White House eligibility "unsettled."
"Ted Cruz has a problem. Because the question is: Is he an actual born citizen?" Trump asked at a rally.
Cruz has mostly brushed off questions about his eligibility. He was born in Canada to an American mother, a scenario most legal experts have agreed meets the Constitution's requirement to be a "natural born citizen." But some say the question remains unsettled because the Supreme Court has never ruled on it.
On Tuesday, Cruz also cited a defense by Mitt Romney, the 2012 GOP presidential nominee, who last week noted that his father, George, was born to American parents in Mexico yet ran for president.
"I understand why my opponents are throwing more and more attacks," Cruz told reporters, suggesting his rivals were targeting him because they are "dismayed" with his top-tier status in the race.
Here’s another thing that has got Ted going here. It seems many don’t know about Cruz’s background about being born in Canada, and many may not agree with him running for Pres because of it. An article snippet from today.

“The new survey found that only 46% of likely Iowa Republican caucus-goers realize that Cruz was born outside the US. (More Iowa Republicans believe Cruz was born in the US than President Barack Obama.)
But just 32% of GOP caucus-goers said that someone born outside the US should be allowed to serve as president, while 47% think such a person should not be able to serve as president.” -end snip-

Some of us hate New Yorkers on general principles.
Bull. His wife settled the issue herself. She backed up Trump.
Ha. Canadian dollar.
Yea they’re dollar is worth more than ours!!!
That should be fun. Two politico’s on Fox. Hahahahaahahah
Such as? Attempts to "massage" the Trump phenomenon are wrong-headed, and conceited.
Furthermore, thoughts that fewer democrats will go for Trump than formerly abstaining Republicans will suddenly appear for Cruz is abject fantasy.
But now they definitely want Trust Fund Donnie. In all the head-to-head matchups, he fares the worst against the Dem between Trump, Cruz and Rubio.
TFD ties or loses - Cruz and Rubio have high double digit leads.

Anyone who sides with Ted Kennedy gets another black mark from me. Ted and his beloved Big Dig union stealing millions from the tax payers.
Trump is for American Workers not illegal immigrants taking American jobs.
All part of the Transnational Progressives plan to do away with nationalism and borders.
Cruz was BORNE INTO THE U.S.A. ;-)

.
Then why does he hire so many illegals?
Can it be that you simply don’t know Trump?
Cruzers complain that Trump was a Democrat years ago.
Ok, fine. But he’s always been an AMERICAN, with no dual citizenship, only US.
Me Too Ted is the perfect example of the North American Union. Born in Canada to Cuban and US parents. Dual citizen. Almost the trifecta there. When Heidi was writing her CFR report on the NAU, I see where the idea came from.
Rafael Edward Cruz... Who made up Ted anyway? Kinda like another fist term senator with questionable birth and a thirst for power.
No thanks.
Remember, all: this campaign, and our future, is about GLOBALISM vs. NATIONALISM. We’ve got to change our mindset. It’s hard, I know. But we face an existential threat, so globalists must be exposed and removed from policy-making wherever they are found.
Leftist? ME? I’m to the right of Genghis Khan, or so I’m told by those who know me. What’s your problem? Maybe it’s because I am informed and don’t swallow the swill that is dished out against Trump? Grow up!
Yes, much better to be like Trust Fund Donnie.
Inherit $100 million. Make stupid investments bankrupting multiple companies along the way and leaving others to hold the bag. Spend your entire adult life as a liberal Democrat. Get yourself a Kim Kardashian type reality show. Then con millions of idiots into thinking you're a "self-made businessman."
The only thing "self-made" about TFD is his pretense of conservatism.

Actually, the issue wasn’t her Age, it was her length of Residency in the United States before his Birth.
IF Obama was born outside of the Country, and his Mother did not meet the prior Residency requirements of five years, which she didn’t, he would not be considered an American Citizen at Birth. I assume upon his Mother’s return to the United State he would have been Naturalized.
Because he was Born on U.S. Soil to an American Citizen, the prior five year Residency of his Mother was not an issue.
That is why his Country of Birth was an issue, especially since he was toted as being Born in Kenya in one or two College Year Book Bios lauding his wonderfulness.
Yes it has changed. Unfortunately. I once supported Cruz until he started giving away our sovereignty with his votes. Now more and more I find fault with him. He is not who I thought he was a couple of years ago. I think Trump is the only one who can get the job done of turning this country around. He understands the issues and knows how to fight. I don’t want just another politician no matter what “label” some have assigned to him. You don’t send a butcher to fix the kitchen sink. Time we picked the man with the proper skill set for the problems we face.
By and large, Trump IS a self-made man; he didn't stay in his father's business and went off to Manhattan to try his hand there, building apartment buildings, none of which have failed.
I've NEVER seen THE APPRENTICE, which Trump didn't make up, but was asked to be the host of. And I don't watch reality shows, so don't know anything much about the Kardashians, except that their father got O.J. off.
Who IS TFD?
Your mordant stupidity has blinded you and rotted your now liquified brains.
We agree 100% ! :-)
A military base is, for citizenship purposes considered American soil. The same applies to an Ambassador when on foreign assignment, no question his children are natural born citizens.
