Cruz: 'Why are Hillary's strongest supporters backing Donald Trump?'
The Hill ^ | January 12, 2016 | Jesse Byrnes

Posted on 01/12/2016 7:36:29 PM PST by Isara

Ted Cruz on Tuesday suggested attacks from Republican presidential rival Donald Trump are being promoted by allies of Democrat Hillary Clinton.

Trump has for two weeks repeated questions about Cruz's birthplace and whether he is eligible to be president.

Cruz responded by suggesting Democrats are "very eager" to support those questions in an effort to boost Trump toward winning the nomination.

"It's more than a little strange to see Donald relying on ... a liberal left-wing judicial activist Harvard law professor who is a huge Hillary supporter. It starts to make you think, gosh, why are Hillary's strongest supporters backing Donald Trump?" Cruz said in video broadcast by MSNBC.

"You know, the past couple of elections, we saw the Democrats thrilled that they got the nominee that they wanted to run against in the general election. And it seems that the Hillary folks are very eager to support Donald Trump and the attacks that are being tossed my direction," Cruz added.

Trump on Monday cited liberal law professor Laurence Tribe, who has called the issue of Cruz's White House eligibility "unsettled."

"Ted Cruz has a problem. Because the question is: Is he an actual born citizen?" Trump asked at a rally.

Cruz has mostly brushed off questions about his eligibility. He was born in Canada to an American mother, a scenario most legal experts have agreed meets the Constitution's requirement to be a "natural born citizen." But some say the question remains unsettled because the Supreme Court has never ruled on it.

On Tuesday, Cruz also cited a defense by Mitt Romney, the 2012 GOP presidential nominee, who last week noted that his father, George, was born to American parents in Mexico yet ran for president.

"I understand why my opponents are throwing more and more attacks," Cruz told reporters, suggesting his rivals were targeting him because they are "dismayed" with his top-tier status in the race.

Lol, Ted’s been bashing Trump so much lately, Fox News is even letting him comment tonight on the SOTU speech, along with Marco.

If Trump is going to face Hillary and attack her on the abuse of women angle, he needs to clear up his own rape allegation.

I’m not saying he did rape his wife - no, not at all, but he needs to get a ruling on that so it’s not a problem for the nominee in the general.

Not that he did anything wrong, but there’s some allegations and questions out there, that he needs to get cleared up, legally.

Cruz is losing it, in more ways than one. Hey Teddy, did you happen to notice the GOPe and Haley didn’t attack you tonight. You know why? They know you can’t win, they are not afraid of you.

Ok. So you liked Trump until the Birther issue.

If Cruz is the nominee, do u think the RATs will give Cruz a pass
on the Birther issue?

Do you think they will be less agressive than Trump?

Think about that before you respond.

Repeatedly cross-posting the same thing (and a cut-and-paste, at that) on multiple threads is just bad form on Internet forums, dude. You’ve made your point; by repeating it, you’re not changing anyone’s mind-—everyone has already viewed it and judged it, its veracity, its bias (simply watching ONE of Trump’s almost NIGHTLY stump speeches-—all available on YouTube-—disproves many of the graphic’s assertions). JR is very patient to allow you to do this. CR’s analysis in the graphic is disingenuous at best. And I’m one of those Trump/Cruz guys-—or have been until I’ve seen the stupidity of the FR Cruz posters, which is one of the things which makes me question Cruz.

It’s clear that 99% of the anti-Trump copy-and-pasters have never watched one minute of a Trump stump speech. Just like how liberals know exactly what the Rush show is about and how Rush is-—then we find out they’ve never listened to one minute.

I, and most people, can respect the opinions of others, especially here on FR, BUT the opinion of someone who has not done one iota of research, well, their opinion is worthless.

Good case in point is “Cruz is eligible”, without reading one word of the complex, centuries old facts of what the Constitution says, what God’s law says, what common law says, what court decisions’ precedents have said. Instead of actually gaining an INFORMED opinion, you put the jerk into “knee-jerk” by pronouncing Cruz eligible, while legal scholars are not even unanimous, and they HAVE read all the relevant material.

Because they are SICK AND TIRED about being sold down the river by Democrats and they FINALLY have a Republican that gives a damn about their issues - which include things like jobs and secure borders.

I must ask, in all seriousness, if Cruz's argument is that he is eligible because he was born to an American Citizen mother, albeit in Canada, than what was the argument with Obama? No one to my knowledge has claimed Obama’s mother wasn't a citizen. So, seriously, what's the difference? And I'm sure many will assume this means I don't like Cruz and that is not true. I just don't want to be a hypocrite having questioned Obama’s eligibility. I have a friend who's sister was born a month premature in Canada in 1967. We aren't far from the border and they went to Niagara Falls for the day and the baby wanted out. His sister was never called a Canadian citizen at all and received a birth certificate marked US and born in NY when they got home. Now what's up wit that?

So you fall for typical political lies. First of all Tribe DID NOT support Trump in any way. He simply stated that the question was UNSETTLED which Cruz states and I quote “IS SETTLED.” Tribe went on to say he taught both Obama and Cruz and INFERRED that between the two Obama was smarter.

This is Cruz’s typical slick tongue lawyer style. He tries to make people believe something that is untrue by the way he suggests it. Tribe is not a supporter of Trump in any way. He made a statement on the question of Cruz’s eligibility, period!

Obama’s mother was 18 when he was born and was not old enough to pass her citizenship on to Obama.

...........................................................
George Romney was born of TWO American Citizen parents. Cruz was born of one American citizen parent and one alien. He ALSO was not born in the U.S. but the issue of a foreigner for a father is IMO the major issue, according to Vattel’s definition of natural born citizen.

Good for them. I like Cruz less and less. He is proving to be just another typical life time politician snake in the grass.
