To the man I sat next to on the train: I am the gun owner you hate

When I boarded the commuter rail, you were already in the midst of a spirited phone conversation and didn't seem to care about how loud you were talking. You were talking with someone about the Paris train attack and the growing epidemic of gun violence in America.

Most people, especially moonbats, would never guess that I’m an NRA Life Member and have been since 1986. Or that I’ve owned guns since 1970 when my father gave me a rifle for my 15th birthday. With my long hair and beard some think I’m a biker and most think I’m a hippy but I’m not.

70m+ gun owners in the US ... less then 7000 gun related homicides every year.

if gun owners were the problem, there’d be far more incidents.

LOL

I’m coming around to that POV more and more myself.
After Clock Boy ‘See Something, Say Something’ sounds
like pure BS to me. I’m not about to be the next one
pilloried by lib politicians and the MSM as an “Islamophobe.”

Go find a cop because if I see something I’m going to
disappear into the woodwork and keep on moving away.

"I've owned guns since 1970 when my father gave me a rifle for my 15th birthday. With my long hair and beard some think I'm a biker..."

I have the same story and the same year of birth. My father gave me a Remington .22 target rifle when I was 13. At eighteen he took me to see the chief of police and get a concealed carry permit.

After some time I realized that my father would gift me a gun anytime he found something he fancied. I was fine with that.

I've never been mistaken for a biker, but some people tell me that I remind them of a young Warren Beatty.

“but some people tell me that I remind them of a young Warren Beatty.”

I look like a young Liz Taylor. Well, I dreamed I did.

My Father gave me a .22 Bolt Action Rifle and single shot .410 Shotgun when I was Eight Years Old.

I have owned Guns for nearly 55 Years and I have yet to kill as many People as Ted Kennedy did using his Oldsmobile.

Come to think of it, my Father bought me a Schwinn Stingray with special order front and rear knobby tires for my Eighth Birthday too. He was a wild man, and at 92 still is.

If it was up to Obama, my Father would be in the Slammer.

I’ve played variations of this with lefties.

Sometimes you can do it humorously: “4 out of 6 households on this block are armed - you guess which one”. Sometimes satirically: “I bet you can’t guess which ones in this theater are carrying a weapon right now as we speak”. Sometimes forcefully; “As interesting as your attitude against guns may be, I have no interest in surrendering my rights to salve your feeeeeelings”.

Usually just the intimation that someone around them could actually be packing is enough to make them physically separate themselves from whatever situation you’re in.

“We don’t have liberals or trains here.”

Well, it’s certainly cheaper and more pleasant that way.

Judging by the comments at the Boston Globe site — the libs basically refuse to see the truth.

I think many fear gun owners because they fear what they would do to others if they had a gun. All they do is project. They fear others with guns because they think if others have guns, they will,do to them shat they believe they’d do to others if they had guns. See they want to murder those that don’t hold their views. They think if they had guns if they got angry they might somehow lose it and start shooting other people.

Others are not as smart and emnlightened as them so for sure they cant be trusted with guns, if they cant trust themselves.

I have people likethis in my extended family, unfortunately.

Me too. One of them actually admitted exactly what you said. She told me that if she had a gun, she’d shoot people for cutting in line in front of her in a store. I believe her.

I have never threatened anyone with a gun either verbally or by drawing one. I’ve come close to drawing down a couple of times, and thankfully it didn’t come to that, but I wasn’t going to threaten them with it. If ya know whadda mean! ;-)

They think everyone else has their own weaknesses.

Try sometime to say she probably wouldn’t. I mean she could just drive them over, or stab them, or some other way, but she never has. Her fear is irrational. What’s stopped her from using a hundred different weapons to do that? Guns are not any more special than anything else.

It’s not a hard and fast rule for me. Every situation is different. But the current political situation has changed my attitude so part of any initial assessment will be whether I really want to get involved.

I asked her that. She said that the “power of a gun” would make her do things that a knife never would. Liberalism is a mental disease, so I think that the power of a gun would actually affect her mind.

She is one of those types that you are not permitted to disagree with. She’ll shriek at you, demanding multiple citations of verifiable evidence that she will refute with her noting but feelings on the subject. Then, she goes to the “agree to disagree” statement, followed by the “closing argument” that you cannot rebut because “we already agreed to disagree”. Finally, she declares the subject closed and goes off to pout or tell other family members what a hate-filled right-winger you are.

She always makes Thanksgiving fun for my brother and me. LOL
