A document uncovered by Breitbart News indicates that the parents of Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) were named on a Calgary list of electors for Canada's federal election of July 8, 1974.
Ted Cruz's parents are listed as "Cruz, Eleanor, Mrs." and "Cruz, Raphael, self employed," both at 920 Riverdale Avenue, South West in Calgary, Alberta.
Canadian law restricts (and restricted) federal voting rights to Canadian citizens.
In a statement to Breitbart News-the full text of which follows this article-Jason Johnson, chief strategist for Cruz for President, said that "the document itself does not purport to be a list of 'registered Canadian voters.' All this might conceivably establish is that this list of individuals (maybe) lived at the given addresses. It says nothing about who was a citizen eligible to vote."

Sen Cruz’s mother could not have been a legal Canadian citizen at the time of Sen Cruz’s birth. Canadian law required 5 years of residence within Canada. His family move there in 1967 and Sen Cruz was born in 1970.
His mother was not a Canadian citizen, nor could she have legally been a Canadian citizen.
Ruh oh!
Canadian law restricts (and restricted) federal voting rights to Canadian citizens.
Uh oh. If this is true, this is not good.
Second, the document is from 1974. That is four years after Senator Cruz was born, so even if this document said anything about citizenship—and it does not—it would be irrelevant to the citizenship status of his mother at the time of his birth, which is the only relevant status for determining Cruz’s natural-born citizenship.
Third, Eleanor was never a citizen of Canada; she never applied for Canadian citizenship or permanent residence. Instead, she spent her time in Canada under a work permit.
OK let’s cut to the chase...
Ted’s mother was born in Delaware to American parents..
When Ted was born in 1970, was his mother still an American citizen ???
What she did about her nationalities later has no bearing on his eligibility...
His mother was not a Canadian citizen, nor could she have legally been a Canadian citizen.
If that's true, than that resolves the point which the article suggests.
Where are all of Hussein’s records?
This is not looking good.
The Dems knew what they had, and would have blown a nuclear crater in Cruz if they had the chance.
As long as Canada doesn’t require photo ID at the polls, what difference does it make?
Ruh oh is right.
This is bad. Very bad. At the very least Democrats will have enough of an argument to keep a Cruz victory tied-up in Liberal circuit courts for months.
Cruz is finished now./ sarc
The Cruz campaign has to be more forceful about this, or he's done (apart from becoming DT's running mate). "Senator Ted Cruz is a natural-born citizen, period."
It would not have been legally POSSIBLE for Ted’s mother to be a Canadian citizen. They moved to Canada in 1967. Ted was born in 1970. Canada REQUIRES 5 years of residence in order to become a Citizen.
So legally, she could ONLY be a US citizen.
Let the Cruz-haters spin their wheels. More grist for the mill.
Read the article before posting. It clearly says that Eleanor Cruz could not have been a Canadian citizen in 1970, when Ted was born. She had only lived in Canada for three years, and 5 years residence was required.
It looks like the local affiliate of the Democratic Party is in charge of the voter registration rolls in Calgary.
If Stephen Harper were still PM in Canada he could get Cruz out of this by going after his mother for registering to vote illegally.
Fat chance Junior Trudeau is going to help him out.
expect a lot more to come out. My bet is that Hillary has had her research crew has scoured for documents that would cast doubt on Cruzes eligibility. I think it good that its talked about now rather then 8 months from now.
Sorry, this is NOTHING.
Ted’s mom was a US Citizen at the time of his birth. Canada REQUIRES 5 years of residence for citizenship. The Cruz family moved to Canada in 1967 and Ted was born in 1970.
It was not legally POSSIBLE for his mom to change citizenship.
