LIVE THREAD 7 pm 1/07/2016 Donald Trump @ Flynn Center for the Performing Arts Burlington, VT
Donald Trump 2016 Make America Great AGain ^

Posted on 01/07/2016 9:35:03 AM PST by nikos1121

Are Y'all fixin? As in "fixin" to get excited for Donald Trump tonight?

Tonight will be @ the Flynn Center for the Performing Arts in Burlington, VT.

I will post other live threads if they superior to this one. For example, we've noticed that Fox News of Phoenix sometimes stream the Trump Rallys at:

http://www.fox10phoenix.com/news-now

Here's a little background of this historic place.

HISTORY OF THE FLYNN

The Flynn has been at the center of Vermont's cultural landscape for almost 80 years—from its earliest days as a vaudeville house through five decades as a premier movie theater to its present incarnation as the region's leading performance center and arts education organization. Today, the Flynn Center for the Performing Arts is recognized internationally for its significant artistic, educational, and community outreach activities; superb technical capacity; beautiful ambiance; historic setting; and world-class presentations.

As we approach the Flynn's 30th anniversary as a performing arts center and 80th anniversary as an historic theater, we celebrate a rich legacy of connecting our community with the arts.

THE BIRTH OF AN ENTERTAINMENT

It was the time of the Great Depression and the country was trying to rebound from the stock market crash of 1929. The presence of the University of Vermont and active textile and lumber industries buffered Burlington somewhat from the ravages of precipitous economic decline. "Bootleggers" scoffed at Prohibition. The face of George Washington was unveiled on Mount Rushmore. The Graf Zeppelin took to the air. Hamburger was 35 cents a pound, an entire steak dinner cost just $1.25, and Ford's new Deluxe Coupe could be driven out of the showroom for $545.

More on the Flynn Center can be found here:

One last comment.

This is Bernie Sanders country. Why the Trump Team picked this place is beyond me. It's been reported, in some publications, that the organizers were worried his crowd would scoop up all the tickets. Whether this is true or not, I personally wouldn't know, but fact is the Trump Team has offered up to 20,000 tickets on line to an event that will hold approximately 1400 people. This seems a bit absurd, and may cause a problem for the neighborhood.

It's already posing a problem for the local police force who are committed to having an orderly and safe show.

I've noticed also in the local news that some of the artists who have performed at the Flynn have asked that theater cancel the event, because they consider Donald Trump's Rally has a forum for "hate speech," but the Directors of theater refused.

Let's pray that there are no serious injuries tonight.

Here are some excerpts from the Burlington Free Press:

Vermonters who plan to see Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump speak on Thursday should prepare for "airport-like" security and sizable crowds after the campaign issued tickets for more than 10 times the number of available seats, the Flynn Center's executive director says.

“We’ve been working with the Secret Service very carefully along with the Burlington Police Department,” said John Killacky, whose 1,400-seat theater is playing host to Trump's evening speech.

Outside the venue, city officials are concerned after learning the Trump campaign issued far more free tickets than there are available seats. As of midday Wednesday, police said the campaign had distributed about 20,000.

“I wonder if the Trump campaign took into account the safety of the police officers who have to contend with large, dissatisfied crowds,” Burlington Police Chief Brandon del Pozo said. “This situation would place police officers in needless confrontations with citizenry.”

Tech impaired is about your attitude. I asked a 93 year old man to “reboot” his house once when he couldnt get to the internet for more than a week and a half. Was hilarious for us both because I said OK, you don’t know which box to disconnect and reconnect... do you know how to set your vcr time? he said no, never set it. We rebooted his house with the main breaker. It was a proud moment for us both. He had been struggling with Comcast tech support for more than a week, and we fixed it. I was over 1000 miles away. He had been a Texas Ranger when he was younger. Was a magnificent man and I am blessed to have helped him a bit. Ray in El Paso. The old son of a buck sent me a box of Omaha Steaks as thanks, and it made me feel guilty. Crazy awesome old coot. ;-) I miss talking to him. He had a wicked sense of humor.

Frankly I don’t think even he can pull it off. We’re probably past the tipping point.

I believe he has the best chance, though, as my tagline indicates.

I like how he kept telling security to move FASTER.
Showing the drive and determination that we can expect when he is President.

The blue hairs outsmarted the Democrats by voting with them on important legislation.

The bright green hairs have a wife that’s a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.

The blue hairs offered up Legislation as a poison pill, but two years later were still advocating for a tenet of that poison pill legislation.

The purple hairs either advised a president to object to Proposition 187, or word things in such a way as to explain that objection to defray those who would disagree with it.

The dark green hairs helped Bush work children into the illegal alien issue, to defray objection to policy.

Gosh, what a train full of solid Conservatives...

What's the real story in Iowa re: Trump vs Cruz? Not sure if I trust the polls showing Cruz leading yet his rallys are so small.

I keep hearing about the Cruz campaign being highly organized. Not sure if that means they're arranging for buses to haul in people from nursing homes, or what.

I think this is her offhand way of inviting everyone over to the Cruz threads.
