Marco Rubio has made the critical political mistake of not dressing like a complete schlub. Everyone, it seems, is talking about his kinky boots.
The Florida senator and Republican presidential candidate came close to pulling off an acceptably frumpy look as he boarded his campaign bus in New Hampshire on Monday: mildly unkempt hair; creased black dress pants before noon; a lumpy blue sweater. But Rubioâs decision to don what Vanity Fair delicately dubbed âstatement footwearâ has turned his three-inch heels into a ball and chain.

Chick in the red, dead.
LOL That was what I thought of, too. You must be older than I thought.
I wear shoes like this too...BFD. Rubio ain't my guy but seriously.....other pols need to get a life.
Of course the Guardian doesn’t understand why dressing European isn’t a good idea for Marco—especially when the boots are clearly his version of Jeb reaching on his tippy toes.
No. Just no.
Disco Marco.
For Iowa and NH in the winter, practical snow boots are in order.
Give me a break.
There's more to the nomination than footwear, guys.
seriously! the brouhaha over this is beyond stupid. if Rubio had cowboy boots on, he’d be criticized for being a wannabe. I pay ZERO attention to what men wear on their feet!
In High School we called the “Fruit Boots”.
Could be a response to Tippie-Toes Jeb.

If shoes are all the media has ...
Hey, I don’t support Rubio, but is his attire really an issue for presidential politics? I have some western boots that have 2 inch-plus heels...
Wanna get my attention, ask him some probing questions about his relationship with McCain, Durbin, Schumer, etc.
Maybe if his pants were longer and were a little wider at the length.
He probably wants to look taller. Maybe he will wear them at the debate.
It seems that fairly tapered dress slacks are in style for men, at the moment. I prefer classic, straight-legs. The tapered ones are difficult to hem at a length that is both long enough, and doesn’t just get stuck on top of the shoes. So either the pant legs are too short, or they bunch up in an unflattering way around the feet. Neither is a good look, IMHO.
There’s a blast from the past. I actually remember that.
Rubio's aren't cowboy boots, more like the platform boots with the zipper on the side that I wore in the 70s.
Red shirt meant your Star Trek carrier was toast.
