Eric Trump: My dad’s immigration plan includes amnesty after deportation

Last month, Marc A. Thiessen of the American Enterprise Institute published the article Message to the GOP: Trump supports amnesty.

In it, he highlights Eric Trump’s description of his father’s immigration plan:

“The point isn’t just deporting them, it’s deporting them and letting them back in legally. He’s been so clear about that and I know the liberal media wants to misconstrue it, but its deporting them and letting them back legally.”

Which echoes Donald’s previous comments:

“I would get people out and then have an expedited way of getting them back into the country so they can be legal…. A lot of these people are helping us … and sometimes it’s jobs a citizen of the United States doesn’t want to do. I want to move ’em out, and we’re going to move ’em back in and let them be legal.”

The key word is expedited. An expedited process is another way of saying that illegals are going to cut in line of those who have been waiting for years.

This is the same touch back amnesty plan floated years ago by Mike Pence and Mike Huckabee. It was slammed then and should be slammed now. In contrast, Cruz' plan gives no favoritism to the current law breakers. They are deported and go to the back of the line in their home countries.

At least with Trump’s plan they are out and need to apply to get back in like any other foreigner subject to immigration laws and limits.

We can discuss this issue after the border is secure...until then, what happens to those who are already here is academic. That goes for Trump’s or anyone else’s plan until the border is secure. Murderers who were deported multiple times just kept getting back in...the ‘current law’ managed to be enforced on them several times, yet they kept returning due to the lack of a secure border.

Honestly I think Trump has merely been trying to articulate the most “conservative” border plan and immigration stance against his own instincts. Perhaps he really believes in what he says. But if so, it’s a recent development. And yes, he would allow many of these people to come right back in through the immigration process, which is at least a form of backdoor amnesty.

I think he’s just a guy who says whatever is going to most benefit him in his mind at a particular time. Kind of how a couple of people outlined on the birtherism thing today. 3 months ago he was saying there was no problem with Cruz being eligible when Cruz wasn’t a problem or a threat in any state.

Now today he says he hopes it isn’t a problem.

And no, I don’t think he “attacked” Cruz on it. Although I’ve heard two different versions as well. But mostly he tailors his message and his views as he sees fit at a given time. If it’s to his advantage to go the other way, he’ll go the other way.

That’s just one of the reasons I’m not particularly interested in him as our next president.

Cruz won’t deport anyone except those committed of other crimes. That is amnesty since they get to stay.

Trump never said they get in BEFORE those waiting in line. nun fact, he said just the opposite.

I wouldn’t support him otherwise.

Instead of criticising the source why not address the issue? What is the point of deporting 20-30 million illegals if you’re just going to let 18-28 million right back in?
