It started with the Washington Post asking candidate Donald Trump about Ted Cruz’s eligibility to run for President because Ted Cruz was a Canadian citizen until last year. The question surfaced again last night – and the media continue to frame the answers as Trump attacking Cruz.
In November democrat Alan Grayson stated his intention to sue Ted Cruz over his eligibility or lack thereof. Trump appears to be responding (below) to the intent of Grayson to tie up the issue in court:
Donald Trump Ted Cruz Wasnt born In This Country He Had A Canadian Passport
According to the outline in the following documentation (Birth Certificate Below), both of Ted Cruz’s parents were Canadian Citizens at the time he was born in Calgary:
[…] Because Ted Cruz has been confirmed a legal citizen of Canada up until renouncing his Canadian citizenship in May of 2014, and because he has been confirmed a citizen of Canada at birth, and because his Father is on public record stating that he and his wife became citizens of Canada during their eight years living in Canada and because Rafael Cruz remained a citizen of Canada until he renounced and applied for legal citizenship in 2005. There is simply no way that Ted Cruz was, is or ever can be a natural born Citizen of the United States eligible for the offices of President or Vice President.

We have no specific skill set to determine these matters; it simply is, as many have noted, a highly charged conversation with much of the outcome dependent on interpretation of documents, intent and legal findings.
However, at least on the surface, it would appear that all Cruz needs to do is speak directly -for, and on, the record- and refute this outline above; if it is factually incorrect and put the entire matter to rest.
At the very least that might get the media to stop asking Donald Trump about it.
Otherwise, the Democrats and the MSM (but I repeat myself) will be hammering the public about it on a daily basis in the event Senator Cruz garners the nomination.
And if a federal judge decides to take the case, all bets are off.
I think I am looking forward most to the next debate. It is going to be historic. We will see who really has the debate skills. Trump has proved himself in the previous debates. We will see if Cruz really as good as he says he is. I haven’t been this psyched for a debate in.....ever.
Yes, indeed, what the judge will say is all that matters, not what the pundits, or you or I say. And any interested party who cares to litigate this, will find a sympathetic judge, or even unsympathetic judge who is a strict constructionist and will follow the constitution on this matter.
I agree with Mark Levin....Donald drop this one...there are way to many other fish to fry

It is in bed. Only the media and Trump supporters care.
The Constitution has not changed. It is NOT a living document. He held two citizenships all his life until a year ago. IMHO, he is not eligible.
And if a judge says Cruz is ineligible there would be an appeal, and another, to SCOTUS. By then of course the primaries will be long over. Meanwhile the waters are muddied in the eyes of potential Cruz voters, maybe enough to destroy his already long shot at winning. And Trump never had to actually say Cruz is ineligible, just say that others will. It’s brilliant, really.
Cruz not being born in the U.S. is not new news.
It has been generally agreed, I think, that a natural-born citizen includes one who has an American-citizen parent and is born on foreign soil - like a U.S. diplomat to a foreign country whose child is born there.
The issue is this for all in Loma linda. The constitution, in ARTICLE II, requires a President to have been born on US soil. PERIOD!! The language for illegibility of a President could have been “Citizen”. It was not “Citizen”! It was “NATURAL BORN” which does not mean “other than the not discovered Cesarian Section”.IT MEANT __ “ON US SOIL”. It will be raised by the Democrats if he is ever a threat. He needs to go into Federal Court and get a declaratory Judgment, NOW@!!. We are getting nowhere by sticking our heads in the sand. Cruz needs to TAKE ACTION NOW!! That is all that TRUMP is saying!! I hope Cruz gets a favorable ruling from Justice Roberts! HA!! But I don’t think he will.
I’m a Trump supporter.

This was all gone over with a fine tooth comb with Obama. Trump needs a quick update on this, drop it, and move on.
You people are playing the left’s game. Go back to DU.
Is there any proof his mother renounced her American citizenship> I cannot believe she would do that.
I think you left the GOPe off your list
“IT MEANT __ “ON US SOIL”
That’s your opinion. The other argument is that it means “born a citizen” rather than naturalized. Since it’s never been adjudicated it could go either way, no matter how passionately you SHOUT your opinion.
That depends on what you mean by "generally." The State Department considers it an open question.

“This issue needs to be put to bed as definitively as possible, IMO.”
I agree. I’m starting to think that they (Trump and Cruz) are in this together, as doing so provides 2 MAJOR benefits:
1) It forces the question to be dealt with on THEIR TERMS, and on THEIR SCHEDULE. If Trump wants Cruz for VP, then get this out of the way, once and for all.
2) It leaves Rubio and the other kiddies once again gasping for media oxygen, just as the first Primaries are right around the corner.
Trump has proven, to me at least, that he’s smart enough to come up with something like this...and Cruz has proven to all of us that he’s smart enough to go along.
Several lawsuits have already been filed on the eligibility of Cruz, Rubio, and Jindal. All of them have been dismissed.
Does a VP have the same eligibility requirements as the president? (to be Natural Born Citizen)
