During the White House press briefing this afternoon, one reporter explained the fight between Cruz and Trump and asked if the president was enjoying the drama around Cruz's citizenship.
"I don't know if he does, but I sure do," Earnest quipped as reporters chuckled in response.
Earnest then seemed willing to feed the narrative questioning Cruz's citizenship.
"It would be quite ironic if after 7 or 8 years of drama around the presidentâs birth certificate if Republican primary voters were to choose Senator Cruz as their nominee," he said. "Somebody who actually wasnât born in the United States and only 15 months ago renounced his Canadian citizenship."

Better he should say nothing and let the Democrats bring it up? Settle it now. That’s what primaries are for getting the candidates ready to face the Democratic candidate who will be looking for everything including the kitchen sink. If settled now its old news with no traction later.
Well why not? After Obama proved there are no rules, we might as well ignore them too, right?
Obama?
Is this the first case of a Pot head calling a kettle Black?
The democrats WILL use this and they will win. They lied about Obama and created a birth certificate for him. They will have no qualms about making this a huge issue.
O always doubles down, daring “catch me if you can”.
Ha! We agree on something.
Just wait till people find out that Donald Trump was really born in Kenya...
PING to this article.
The gutless GOP let it slide, the hyenas on the other side won’t and they won’t worry about playing fairly either, not to mention that we look like hypocrites not to vet our candidates after the uproar about the Obama coverups.
Cruz is a citizen of the US. He arrived at that point without having to be naturalized due to his US mother. Therefore he is a natural born citizen. Cleared up for most people.
All the more reason to vote for Cruz.
no, that’s a pathetic sugar coat on your part.
it’s been cleared up to everyone but morons.
“never thought conservatives would go gaga over a thrice married guy though.”
Well Reagan was married twice. I remember that being a big deal then.
“Trump did attack Cruz on this issue. He brought it up as a problem that might disqualify Cruz.”
No, Trump did not “attack” Cruz. He stated that should Cruz be the nominee, he will most likely be dealing with legal attacks from the Dems re: his Canadian birth and dual citizenship. No where did Trump say Cruz was not eligiable.
He may have implied that these court cases may erode Cruz’s ELECTABILITY, which should concern ANYONE on the right.
Yeah, Trump always uses Democrat talking points when attacking Republicans.
Yep, liberal activist judges pick winners and losers based on ideology.
One big difference — Cruz has a real birth certificate.
Obozo does not, except for his fake one.
What’s fantastic is that if Cruz WAS sued he could assert that Obama’s election sets precedent for a foreign-born person to become POTUS, since AZ SOS Ken Bennett actually received indirect confirmation that there is no legally-valid BC for Obama in Hawaii. He could get discovery then, to make his case. In the process, maybe we could even find out where Loretta Fuddy is right now, and who ordered all the forging of records at the HDOH.
If Cruz wanted to open up this can of worms he could very easily come out on top, because a lot of stuff Bamster’s owners would like to keep secret would come out of Pandora’s Box with the depositions, and the whole world would be able to see the crimes that have put Obama into our White House.
If the dems want to go there, I say “Make my day”. I would happily - ecstatically - give Cruz all the evidence I have, and the good thing is that it’s already in hands in addition to mine so they can’t make it go away simply by offing me, cutting the sheathing on my husband’s vehicle’s wiring, or poisoning my family.
I can’t wait to see Obama’s handlers shipped to Gitmo.
Come on, Bamster, make my day! I am down but I will never be out.
It’s settled, except in the feeble minds. It will NEVER be settled there.
