During the White House press briefing this afternoon, one reporter explained the fight between Cruz and Trump and asked if the president was enjoying the drama around Cruz's citizenship.
"I don't know if he does, but I sure do," Earnest quipped as reporters chuckled in response.
Earnest then seemed willing to feed the narrative questioning Cruz's citizenship.
"It would be quite ironic if after 7 or 8 years of drama around the president’s birth certificate if Republican primary voters were to choose Senator Cruz as their nominee," he said. "Somebody who actually wasn’t born in the United States and only 15 months ago renounced his Canadian citizenship."

Interviewer: “Hello Mr. Cruz, it’s a pleasure to meet you. My name is (redacted). I am a (redacted) County GOP Precinct Chair and you have my support and vote. I have one question for you if I may?”
Cruz: “Sure, go ahead.”
Interviewer: “What is your understanding of how one becomes a natural born Citizen?”
Cruz: “Two citizen parents and born on the soil.”
Interviewer: “Not exactly, but as I don’t have enough time to fully explain how one does become an natural born Citizen, based on your understanding, would you agree that Barack Obama is ineligible to be POTUS?”
Cruz: “I would agree.”
Interviewer: “So when we get you elected, will you expose him for the usurping fraud he is?”
Cruz: “No, my main focus will be on repealing Obamacare.”
Interviewer: “But Mr. Cruz, if he is exposed as the usurping fraud he is, everything he has done will become null and void. Everything!”
Interviewer: “At that point, Cruz reiterated his main concern, so it was obvious the conversation was over as far as Cruz was concerned. I thanked him for his time and wished him success in the runoff.”
Now, what does natural born Citizen really mean and why did our Founder’s choose that term in an overt effort to prevent people like Barack Obama, Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio, Vladimir Putin and bin Laden’s son from ever gaining access to the Oval Office?
The answer is found in the Founders statements identifying the source of the term, Vattel’s international treatise on Natural Law, The Law of Nations, book 1 - Chapter XIX. Every American can easily find it, read it, understand it and know it. There is nothing at all ambiguous about it. unless you let your political agenda drive your facts.
The true definition of the natural born Citizen requirement for the Oval Office as described throughout the entirety of Chapter XIX can be summed up in this section from 212.
“As the society cannot exist and perpetuate itself otherwise than by the children of the citizens, those children naturally follow the condition of their fathers, and succeed to all their rights. The society is supposed to desire this, in consequence of what it owes to its own preservation; and it is presumed, as matter of course, that each citizen, on entering into society, reserves to his children the right of becoming members of it. The country of the fathers is therefore that of the children; and these become true citizens merely by their tacit consent. We shall soon see whether, on their coming to the years of discretion, they may renounce their right, and what they owe to the society in which they were born. I say, that, in order to be of the country, it is necessary that a person be born of a father who is a citizen; for, if he is born there of a foreigner, it will be only the place of his birth, and not his country.”
Why should anyone believe a purported interview by an unidentified person on some hack bloggers site? Unless you can provide a recording of the interview with Cruz’s own voice why should anyone give any credence to your post?
Not being a constitutional scholar, I just tell them, “Hey, Obama settled that.”
The purpose of the post was to provide the link to the document that the Founder’s reportedly had in mind when using the term Natural Born Citizen, not to attack Cruz for a mischaracterization of NBC.
This post was in response to C Edmund Wright’s request, it is one of many discussions of the subject I could have chose but with a bit more interesting material at the link and more pithy than many.

Trump did this on purpose. He could have answered differently but he is a winner. He wants to win. Ted knows this is not Bible Study but his supporters on here think it is. Must be their first primary. LOL.

The timeline doesn’t present any evidence that Cruz’s mother naturalized as a Canadian citizen. Even if she did and would not necessarily mean she lost her U.S. Citizenship.
If you are right about Trump, he can easily defuse this by clarifying his remarks.
He’s never been afraid to say what he thinks.
We’ll know in a couple of days as he will surely be asked about this as it is a big story on all social media ... all over Facebook.

This is Trump yesterday on New Hampshire 1 TV news. The political director Paul Steinhauser is interviewing Trump and says, “Mr. Trump, I want to ask you about Ted Cruz and your comments, because his birthplace is in Canada, it may be ‘precarious’ for the Republicans to have a nominee like that. Are you suggesting or questioning his birthright, his citizenship?”
TRUMP: No, I’m not at all. I just know that it’s being questioned all over, and a lot of people are asking me that question. I hope it’s not so. I hope it doesn’t come about. But people are worried that if he wasn’t born in this country — which he wasn’t, he was born in Canada, and he actually had a Canadian passport along with a US passport until just recently. So I don’t know what it all means. I know that other people are talking about it.
And there will be a judge somewhere that will listen to them. This is a real dangerous situation no matter what his status is finally ruled to be. Running with a cloud over this issue can and will influence the outcome exactly the way Trump posited that it might. Whether he was super clever or just nasty we may ever know.
The point is that Trump wouldn’t know the difference between the reasons Democrats oppose a Republican and why a conservative opposes a Republican. He’s not a small government conservative. His whole life he’s been a big government crony capitalist Democrat; he’s supported that philosophy. Until very recently, he’s lived a vulgar and ostentatious life constantly self-promoting and hobnobbing with Democrats, not exactly a Calvin Coolidge Republican. Granted, many Republicans and conservatives today are just as enamored of a TV reality star as the liberals are, yet how such a shallow, narcissistic, political amateur could suddenly present himself as a real deal conservative is a serious question yet to be answered. We’ve already had one amateur in the White House. We don’t need another.
