... Some of [Obamacare's] approaches have turned out to be ineffective, poorly targeted, or not ambitious enough to address deeply rooted problems. - Healthcare experts Timothy Jost and Harold Pollack These are inevitable occurrences with any major legislation, though they don't have much to do with the real issue conservatives have with the ACA. In the view of John E. McDonough of Harvard's School of Public Health, it's that Obamacare raises taxes on the wealthy while giving them "bupkis" in direct benefits.
A lot can be done to correct the real flaws in the ACA, and Timothy S. Jost, emeritus professor at Washington and Lee law school, and Harold Pollack of the University of Chicago have provided an extensive guide, published a couple of weeks ago by the Century Foundation.
Jost and Pollack approach their task as admirers of the ACA, which they note has brought the percentage of Americans under 65 without health insurance to its lowest point in five decades. Yet they acknowledge that "some of its approaches have turned out to be ineffective, poorly targeted, or not ambitious enough to address deeply rooted problems."
Here are a few of their main recommendations:

Here’s a great way to fix zero care: repeal every last line of it.
Then allow health insurance sales across state lines. Allow the free market to work.
Just that in itself would be 100% better than zero care.
its a big deal a statist-left-fascist rag like the LA Times is even admitting Obamacare has problems.
But of course, their solutions are “spend more money.”
Ahh... it’s not in need of fixing. It’s in need or repealing. Then, INDEPENDENTLY, enact things such as tort reform (e.g., loser pays), allow medical insurance to be marketed to other states, etc.
Hitlary promised that she would build upon the successes of Obamacare.
I recall that part of Hillcare was (fines, up to and possible imprisonment) for medical personal who attempted to avoid government controlled healthcare rules.
So where does the extra money come from?
Isn't that the main problem with Obamacare: all the bennies came up front, and the taxes/fees came up later and however high, were still too low to pay for its exorbitant costs?
Repel it. Allow re-importation of ALL pharmaceuticals and medical devices into the US at current world market prices. Allow for the expansion of these—http://surgerycenterok.com/.
Subject the medical industry to existing antimonoply/antitrust law just like all other businesses in the US.
“—Restore the “public option” by offering Medicare to the 60+ population.”
Good stuff.
Just came cross this article, hits nail on the head.
We’re going to have the best healthcare in the world and Mexico is going to pay for it. /s
I hope Trump nationalizes Lawyers by executive order and forces them to accept low cost legal insurance premiums in lieu of payments and standard court awards, and every lawyer in the bar has to do free attorney work for people who can’t afford the premiums.
I know it’s socialistic, but heck I bet lawyers are 75% of our problem.
This could be said equally of the real flaws of such things as terminal cancer, drinking cyanide and swimming in hydrochloric acid. Sure enough, if we apply any of those things to the uninsured and insured equally, the percentage of uninsured drops.
And yet ... we would just repeal those things if we could, wouldn't we?
“ObamaCare” needs to be given “the pill” and sent home to die.
Then she’s saying she has nothing to build.
I agree with you about lawyers. It was so cold here yesterday I saw a lawyer with his hands in his OWN pockets!
Absolutely! Stop the insurance monopoly that has turned into banking, while you are at it, please. An act that required a doc fix, a medical dev fix.. Can’t keep track.
What do theses men mean millions have more healthcare? I see more evidence that healthcare in real practice, is slipping from the middle class.
There’s no fixing this Rube Goldberg fiasco of a power grab.
It needs to be dumped, lock, stock, and deductible.
Obama’s folly has nothing to do with healthcare, it’s just a tax/power grab, and aTrojan horse to gun control.
