The nearly 300 unarmed police officers patrolling Chicago’s O’Hare and Midway airports have been told to “run and hide†during active shootings.
Internal aviation department documents obtained by CNN instruct officers not “to become part of the response†to an attack.
“If evacuation is not possible, you should find a place to hide where the active shooter is less likely to find you. Block entry to your hiding place and lock the door,†but Matt Brandon, secretary-treasurer of the airport officers union, told CNN they have serious issues with the protocol.
“These men and women are sent to the Chicago police academy, and trained as police officers, and being a former police officer, I know your first instinct is to go to the problem — not run away from the problem.â€
“We’re nothing but casualties if you tell us to run and hide. And how can the public look at us if they see police officers running and hiding? That goes against the very oath we were sworn to that we took.â€
Additionally, Miami-based security expert Wayne Black said he has “never heard of anything so crazy.â€
“I mean, the concept in a post-9/11 world of having sworn law enforcement officers unarmed at an airport, not being able to take direct action — I don’t know what they are thinking.â€
Why? It’s Chicago. Guns are evil. This ensures there will never be any guns at the airport.....
They should rebuild the terminals with “safe places” for the cops to hide in.
They can just lie beneath a nearby pile of corpses.
Now just a cotton pickin’ minit here. Let’s be fair. Shootouts in international airports are a federal matter, best left up to the Feds, who’ve brought us such newsworthy events as Ruby Ridge, Waco and Little Big Horn. Newspaper and TV reporters have to make a living, too, and ‘if it bleeds it leads’ is their bread and butter. Do you want to put MSM anchormen out of work?

When seconds count, the police are running away and hiding.
I’ve always known that Rahm is a “see you next Tuesday” kind of guy.
Soo, a bad guy with a gun decides he wants to ignore the TSA checkpoint, the unarmed TSA calls the unarmed airport police who go hide in some back room. They now have a terminal full of victims with no where to hide and only known exits to escape. What could possibly go wrong while they wait for armed CPD officers to fight traffic and arrive?
Rahm can always order his police officers to “Fart In Zere Ghenerrral Direct-seeon.”

Operative word here is unarmed.
Run and hide is about all they CAN do; unless they want to act as human Meat Shields for the civilians, and I don't see that happening anytime soon.
