CYPRESS, Texas -- While many businesses won't allow people to carry openly, at least one is greeting guns with open arms. Brooks' Place in Cypress is offering a discount to folks carrying a weapon at their waist.
"If you haven't tried it, how do you know you don't like it?" said owner Trent Brooks.
For once, Brooks isn't talking about his BBQ.

Every single perp knows how this works.
The safest place any law abiding American can go to enjoy a meal out... Relax and enjoy!
Jan 2nd, holstered my weapon and went shopping. Now, to be fair, I prefer a semi-open carry myself here in winter time. What I mean is no more stuffing the sidearm concealed in the waistband of my trousers. I put on my holster and wear a tee-shirt tucked and a long sleeve opened up but covering the holster...kinda. lol
Was a lovely day for liberty and freedom down here in Texas.
Do your telling me the gun didn’t jump out of the holster and start killing women an children?! I dint get it, the MSM said their be shootings everywhere.
What if it’s one of Obama’s sons?
That's cool as heck. Tell the owner he has many fans across the country. Oh, and we'll expect your after report. No pressure.
May have to take a special detour on my next trip to visit them and get some good food amongst friends...
I’d be glad to give an after lunch ping to y’all.
Bubba, you wouldn't believe it. I had rounds wizz’n by my head as I approached the chip/salsa isle. Ricocheting rounds as I turned the corner to the frozen section.
Horrifying I tell’ya....horrifying. lol
Yep, 10% discount for carrying your sidearm. Pretty cool. They are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays apparently.

Eh. As much as I’d like to come visit, Houston’s a 3-3.5 hour drive for me. Not really worth it.
Restaurants like this will have best success if they “blend” their discounts. By this I mean having a list of discounts posted, applying to a list of people and their families.
Veterans and Active Duty Military
Senior Citizens
People with Open Carry and Concealed Carry Guns
Police, Firefighters and EMT
Students
Groups larger than ‘x’
Frequent Diners
It may seem like a lot of discounts, but if you can turn your restaurant into the “go to” place for lots of customers and their families, you more than make up for it.
Good for Cypress!
Now if HalfPrice Books would take down their “no —conceal— carry, no open carry” signs, then I’d be happy...
IIRC, they never had a sign at all, up to Jan 2nd....
I was surprised to hear that a local Austin business Torchy’s Tacos said open carry folks were welcome. Have not heard if they got any blow back.
mmmm.... Torchy’s
