FULL TITLE: Until White America looks at Tamir Rice and sees their own children, there will be no racial justice in the U.S.
~snip~
The failure to indict the police who killed Tamir Rice, Michael Brown, Eric Garner, Rekia Boyd, and so many others forces an uncomfortable question. Could it be that black people in America (and the West, more generally) are somehow “stained”? Are they marked for special punishment? Is the Curse of Ham real, does that Judeo-Christian mythology from the era of colonialism, white empire, and chattel slavery endure into the post civil rights and ostensibly “post racial” American present?
Research in psychology and other fields has demonstrated that many white people do not feel that blacks are worthy of empathy. Other work shows that many white people possess a deep subconscious belief which dehumanizes black people by linking them with apes and other primates. Psychologists have also determined that white people consistently view black children as being older than they actually are. Other research has shown that white people believe that blacks have superhuman, magical powers. Implicit bias research suggests that approximately 50 percent of whites (as well as members of other groups) hold racist and prejudicial attitudes towards black people.
And of course, America’s police are quicker in their decision to shoot unarmed black people than they are whites in the same scenario. Likewise, America’s police also somehow believe that harmless objectswhen held by a black person are transformed into lethal items such as guns and knives.
These examples suggest that the White Gaze views “blackness,” and by implication, black people, as toxins in the white body politic, a human curse, or even worse as “takers” and social parasites.

I’m guessing that when you were a lad it was less common for teenage thug drug boyz to shoot each other over the rights to a street corner? For my part, I am pretty much ok for anyone in a public park pointing a realistic looking gun at me to be shot. By me or the police.
I can see why The Beast would rather converse with Sherman than with the sports media.
How many U.S. whites (from all "white" cultures) reject the Holocaust as evil? And how many U.S. blacks (from all black cultures) reject thug dress and behavior as evil? You may find a disconnect there. Like "most" vs. "some", for instance.
Any white kid who brandished a toy gun at a cop would get nothing but a Darwin Award from the white community.
The twelve year old in question was 5’7” 175#’s and brandishing a weapon. The weapon was an air soft pistol. It was not a toy.
The boy was also pointing the weapon at random people in order to frighten them. The 911 caller said he is scaring the Sh!t out of strangers. He said the gun may be fake, but the dispatcher didn’t say that to the cops.
I know where this is, I live less than four miles from that rec center and am in the area at times.
That kid had pulled that gun on me and stuck it in my face and I would have shot him dead as I carry ANYTIME I go to that neighborhood.
I stopped reading at “White America”. These days you might as well because you’ve read what follows a hundred times before.
Tamir Rice was committing what crime ?
If being young and stupid is a crime..
This case does give me pause to wonder if justice was done
Wow. Now that you mention it... you're right.
To many in the black community, personal responsibility is to them like holy water and crosses are to a vampire.
Then start on the queers.
Roll me back to the 50's.
You’re kidding, right? I teach my children to respect the police and be very careful how they behave around the police because it’s a tough job and police deal with bad guys every day. Bend over backwards to be kind, no sudden moves, etc. THUS THIS WOULD NEVER HAPPEN TO MY CHILD as long as he remembers this and behaves properly. And I have already told them that if they mess up and behave inappropriately to the police, then they deserve what they get. You won’t find me saying “Not my baby,” if he’s caught doing something horrible.
It’s called civilizing your children so they never offend the public. It’s my job.
“Tamir Rice was committing what crime ?
If being young and stupid is a crime..
This case does give me pause to wonder if justice was done”
That makes no sense at all.......
Brandishing a firearm in the way he did...is a crime in many areas of the country.
If I was on the street and a 12 year old black male pointed a realistic-looking gun at me, I would blow him away without hesitation.
All the reports I have read have said that the gun was the type that was sold with a orange safety tip. If that’s true then someone removed it.
Yes, if you buy a real pellet gun, CO2 or compressed air, in most states it does not get a safety tip.
For example, they didnât have to pull up so close. They could have been a bit farther back, giving them time to observe that it really was just a kid playing with a toy gun.

Alternatively, they could have simply shot the gun out of his hand, like they do on t.v.
You have a good night.
God Bless
With you completely. Cops messed up. Kid did not need to DIE.
