By now almost everyone has acknowledged that Donald Trump has ripped the masks from most of the modern professional punditry who espoused to be conservatives yet showed their hidden ideological colors as elite globalists.
Most notably this was evidenced in June as millions of Fox News viewers saw FOX's entire line-up of professional pundits proclaim borders shouldnât matter; border walls wonât work; illegal alien amnesty was the only viable solution to decades of unenforced immigration law; and, heck, this was only in week #1 of Donald Trump's campaign.
Since June '15, on almost every issue those same pundits have now openly aligned themselves with GOPe agenda items like global trade, tax policy, big government spending, and advocacy to including advancement of Speaker Paul 'Omnibus' Ryan.
However, a sharp reader, DrudgeAddict, smartly points out these same voices were the exact group who gathered together in an exclusive meeting with President Obama in 2009 to sing his praises after the '08 election. Including :
George Will
Michael Barone
David Brooks
Charles Krauthammer
Bill Kristol
Lawrence Kudlow
Rich Lowry
Peggy Noonan

I don’t think Cruz has a problem fighting fire with fire. He has called out both Harry Reid and Mitch McConnell.
It isn’t something a “political elite” would have their “ironclad career politician” do.
After reading all the posts of the Cruzers here, day after day, either bashing Trump outright or relegating him to second tier status, I just had to get on the boards and write that I, too, was a Cruz fan earlier in the year and have liked what he has done in the past few years. But, come on, people, wake the hell up, will you all? Ever since Trump has entered the race he has blown the whole process wide open in a way that Cruz, with all his good points, never did or never would! Trump has captured the imagination of large swathes of the people of this country in a mind-boggling way. Watching him every day you can only marvel at what he has accomplished. His debate performances, his rallies, his tweets, his use of the media; it’s incredible! The guy is a dynamo! And yet there are naysayers and ankle biters here on FR that make me despair for the future of our country yet again. We can’t ever, never ever, seem to get anything right politically anymore. We now have a guy who can definitely take us all the way to the White House in a manner we haven’t seen since Reagan. Let’s back Trump and Cruz as a tag team to Make America Great Again instead of letting the RINOs gawk at a Trump and Cruz fight that only destroys our chances! Trump already has the lion’s share of support. Let’s make it Trump/Cruz 16!
Agree with everyone on that list being GOPe except Barone. I haven’t seen evidence that he’s sold out to the Establishment yet.

All propagandists for The Cheap Labor Express
If we do not elect a President who WILL stop the illegal alien inundation and enforce the laws we will lose our country.
I agree.
Bingo, niteowl!
Another Trump Effect—faux conservatives unmasked, as well as Fox News.
The MSM has been controlling the news for the past 60 years—time to get rid of their filters.
Are you calling prior to 2000 the recent past?
Trump is a lot more transparent and consistent than Cruz is.
If the only thing you have heard specific from Trump is his tax plan, you haven’t been listening or paying attention. He has more written policies out than any of the other candidates.

What’s another one, “take the oil”?
No specifics
Fair enough, I’ll read them.
Thank you. :)
I liked the China/US deal and the VA deal, that’s for sure.
Immigration-pretty much same as Cruz (okay, everyone will argue who was first, but to be 100% honest about it, both men had “epiphanies” as time has passed, Cruz changed on H1B and Trump changed from his “dreamers” comments).
I like Cruz’s tax plan better.
2nd Amendment, would agree with him and Cruz both.
Thank you for reading it. ;)
You’re were right. I thought I had been paying attention, but I had only heard bits and pieces of Trump’s ideas.
I hope the best 2 candidates (guess who I think they are? LOL)start putting their positions out there more.
Cruz pushes his website a bit more in public, so I have been more familiar with that. Trump should do the same, IMO.
I still like Cruz, from his Solicitor General days and his race against Dewhurst for the Senate, but I am not anti-Trump.
You’re were right?
Not how I wanted to write that
You were right, that’s better English!
“My problem with Trump is I just donât believe him when he is saying these things now.”
Fair comment. I think that most of Trump’s supporters here feel the same - and even some of his more recent stuff (such as recently defending imminent domain, as liberals call it) is worrisome.
Even so, if Trump is lying about his key positions now, then why? It can’t be for money - if he just sells 2 apartments (not even buildings) in NYC, he’s set for retirement. Sell 1 building, and all of his grandchildren and probably great grandchildren will have enough money to get a Harvard education without any grants or loans.
Is it for publicity - to get more people to watch his TV shows? If he turns around and double-crosses his supporters, he will be reviled. No upside there.
Is he secretly trying to help Hillary? Considering the way he’s been smacking her, MUCH MORE than any other Republican (and face it, EVERY other Republican is frightened to death of her)...he’s not helping her very much. If he really wanted to help Hillary, he’d be running Third Party...but he’s not.
So, by default, as far as us supporters can see, he is on the level with us - and DEFINITELY no less trustworthy than McCain was (who said in 2008 that we need to secure the border before talking Amnesty...then lost that election and immediately teamed with Rubio on his Amnesty bill that nearly got through Congress). And does ANYONE think that Bush or Rubio can be trusted, AT ALL, on Border Security?
That then leaves Cruz - and a lot of us suspect that Cruz will be raked over the coals by the Republican Party, if Trump does get out of the way. The ENTIRE PROCESS for the Primaries was designed to PREVENT Cruz from getting the nomination...and given the Party’s record in getting the deadbeats that they want (Bush-41, Dole, McCain, Romney, and Bush-43, to some extent)...the odds of Cruz pulling it out would have been (and still would be) quite long.
...and then the general election. Like it or not, Cruz doesn’t offer much to the country once you leave the conservative arena...in fact, he seems more like a bible thumper to most people outside of our sphere, going to prayer breakfast after prayer breakfast, for example. Most likely he’ll turn off people that don’t want to be preached at and he’ll struggle on immigration, although at least he has some credibility on it.
Bottom line - it would be GREAT if there were a solid conservative with Trump’s key policy positions, money, and personality, but there is not. We can either roll the dice on (1) someone that we know is lying to us (Bush/Rubio), on (2) someone that will have a tough time winning in November, to say the least (Cruz), or on (3) someone that will be a dream-come-true president if he is being honest with us, now. I’ll take my chances on #3.
How can we know that Trump actually believes what he’s being saying of late? His record indicates that he doesn’t. He used to think single-payer was great. He said that Hillary Clinton would make a great President. Would I have ever said that? Would you? Did Ted Cruz?
Trump has given money to her. She was even at his wedding. Now he’s running against her? Why? Who knows...
Trump might be a great President. Or worse than Obama. Who knows?
I like what he has to say, but I have to catch myself, give my head a shake - people are falling for him like the Germans fell for Hitler, and some Americans fell for Obama. Hitler, like Obama, made great speeches - everything about them was great, got gobbled up by the followers, but what came next was a catastrophe. I’ve had enough with speechmakers.
The record of Ted Cruz stands far above any of the other candidates in either party in defending the Constitution, in defending our American values.
Who voted against the Omnibus? Rubio? Bwahaahhaha!!!!!!
Vote Ted Cruz.
Well, then I guess you should vote on record. Trump has built a great company, successfully dealt with politicians local to foreign, raised beautiful and successful children, quietly helped others and developed a forty year reputation of doing what he says he will.
Cruz has lied to Texas voters by saying send me to the Senate and I’ll work for you, then immediately deciding to run for President, lied to associates and the press about his support for the Gang of 8 bill when he was not supporting it, voted for and then against bills in the Senate, has helped no one that I am aware of and does not have a record of doing what he says he will.
