My late uncle was a Jesuit.
He was not any of those things that you say.

Furthermore, Creighton is a Jesuit University, not a diocesan one. Thus, this story has absolutely nothing to do with the Catholic Church.

Yep, Jesuits have nothing to do with the Catholic Church. It's not like the Pope is a Jesuit....

/sarcasm, for those who need a tag.

A better question would have been “Was Mohammed the Anti-Christ”?

Of course that is not PC as Mohammed is a victim of Christian bigotry./s

You are correct that the Pope continues to have warm feelings for the Jesuit order, and he does seem to continue to honor his vow of poverty to the best of his abilities, but in fact he is no longer technically a Jesuit. He probably continues to think of himself as a Jesuit, but he no longer signs his name with an S.J. at the end, as all Jesuits do.

With that being said, this article is about a liberal college professor using his position to indoctrinate students. I explained why the headline was unfortunate. If you choose to hate on the Catholic Church, that is your right, but it is irrelevant to this thread. So please take it somewhere else.

Some ask if the Pope, and the powerful Roman Catholic Vatican whore house in which he lounges, are the anti-Christ.
What would Jesus think about the dysfunctional racketeering operation doing business in his name, that permitted unpunished pedophilia of thousands of children, and so many other attrocities?
Suffer the little children.

Best response: He can’t be the Anti-Christ ‘cause he was already elected and sits in the Oval office.

Hmmm. Can you suggest an alternative for Catholics who are fed up with these abuses?

take it somewhere else.

If you don't want discussion, post it as a Caucus thread in Religion.

Post in News, and take free and open discussion. Or, in other words, perhaps YOU should have taken it somewhere else.

You and the vast population of Catholics are excellent sincere people that are in awe of a living Christ which speaks d-i-r-e-c-t-l-y to your heart and soul.
No middleman is needed (nor desirable) skims profit off your relationship with God and his son.

The RC was good to help collate the King James bible.
The RC was Great in helping found hospitals, Universities and schools.
However, the RC has become unforgivable corrupt in colluding with decades of pedophiles within its ranks.
It’s seminaries are rife with homosexuals, he’ll bent to create cognitive dissonance, and co-opt the entire institution.
The current RC is a lot like the current GOP, irrelevant and actually an institution of moral hazard.
The only way to fix that is mass exodus.
Bankrupt the very institutions that encourage illegal immigrant invasion, socialism, and despises critical thinking and investigation.
Cast off the idols, saints, rote ritual that discourages learning biblical truths that make it clear no man or organization is needed to become close to god.
Find a grassroots bible based church.
Become free.

embittered ex-believers, crestfallen, angry

I've seen that too. Idealists betrayed by reality. The few I've known well seemed especially angry toward anyone who didn't immediately understand and accept and endorse their bitterness.

CHAPTER VII.

RELIGIOUS RAISED TO THE EPISCOPATE

Can. 705 A religious raised to the episcopate remains a member of his institute but is subject only to the Roman Pontiff by virtue of the vow of obedience and is not bound by obligations which he himself prudently judges cannot be reconciled with his condition.

Actually, wouldn't the opposite be true? Post in News, and take free and open discussion. Or, in other words, perhaps YOU should have taken it somewhere else.

Look, if you're really interested, I suppose we could have a long conversation about why lay professors at Jesuit Universities don't speak or act on behalf of the Catholic Church -any more than the Buddhist monk I studied under at a Jesuit university speak for the Catholic Church. I've actually covered quite a bit of it on this thread.

And, its true, this is a free country. You're welcome to post whatever you like. My point was that this was clearly an attempt by copy writer to drum up interest in an article that had nothing to do with the headline.

To me, the story here remains the fact that a liberal college professor (the college itself is irrelevant, other than the fact that it is a good one) has abused his position to indoctrinate students.

Find a grassroots bible based church.

I don't know what that means, and there might not be one in my area. Can you be more specific?

So lets look at that, because I guess this is endlessly fascinating to outsiders:

Upon ascending to the Papacy, did Francis then require all clergy members to take vows of obedience to the Jesuit Superior General and honor the other required Jesuit vows?

No, because while he does has an allegiance to the order on a personal level, he is no longer operating a Jesuit as pontiff. As per the instructions of St. Ignatius, Jesuit ministry occurs on an individual level, and is unconcerned with Church hierarchy. In fact, Ignatius was pretty specific on the fact that Jesuits should not seek higher office or become bishops. Sometimes it still happens, but rarely enough that the guidelines are not specific, as you can see from the canon you quoted.

Trump scares them because they know they have no leverage on him. He can’t be bought by them, and he cares nothing about getting their approval.

You’re more likely to find the Anti Christ living in the Vatican than you will at Trump Tower.
