Small churches is what Peter and Jesus had in mind when the Christian churches began, ie: small gatherings of believers.
Large churches, especially those nationally and internationally based are suspect these days due to systemic corruption of seemingly all organizations.
Discernment is in short supply, as is conviction, strength, and integrity.
Please consider familiarizing with what biblical doctrine is, ie: man’s salvation only comes from accepting Christ as your savior, confidant, and counselor.
Use your spidey-sense regarding signs of pastoral ego, hypocrisy, and that which acts as a stumbling block to believers.
